Nah, it's all good and I wasn't criticizing, I was just saying "Hey, since this in on your mind, check this out, too"
I was just checking that i wasn't violating some rule.
Thanks, If I hadn't seen it already I would have checked it out.
and it was what inspired me to do my own.

cool stuff.
Thanks, glad you like it. If you were referring to my stuff.

Jaw-dropping work !
If you mean my stuff, thanks, and if you mean all the work on this thread, I agree. This is some really cool stuff.

To get some really good in site into the X-Men Evolution style go to this guy's website:
http://stevenegordon.com/how_to.html
He has loads of stuff like this:
cyclops_02p.jpg

wolverine_02p.jpg

rogue_02p.jpg

rogue_03p.jpg

char_design_01_09p02.jpg

as for the Timm style,
All I can say is study some of his character designs like these:
7W_docmidas.gif
7W_minerva.gif
abinsur1.gif
amalgam_ironlantern.gif
batgirl.gif
blue_beetle.gif

greenlantern.jpg

Not that I know exactly what I am talking about, but he simplifies the body into shapes, lots of curves and straights.

I have no idea if there is a website out there that has Bruce Timm style guides, like the X-Men Evolution guides on the link I posted in the previous post. But if someone knows about a Bruce Timm Style Guide that would be awesome and I would also love to know about it.

well both your stuff and the whole thread. Even though I didn't request how to draw Timm drawings thank a lot !

Yeah I was onbout your stuff Artistsean. And this thread is cool too, didn't know to much about it, got a book The Amalgam Age Of Comics, The Marvel Comics Collection, but thought it was a knock off of D.c and Marvel till I looked on this thread, then I looked on the web yestarday to see what Amalgam was, and I was shocked, its cool, Going to have a go, at drawing some now .lol thanks

There are lots of comics out there that are a rip off of Marvel and DC characters, so its understandable. I was getting the DC vs. Marvel comics that lead into the Amalgam comics, so thats how I know.

I still have more Amalgams to post:
DC + Marvel = Amalgam
AtomMan.jpg

the Atom + Hank Pym (Giant Man, Ant Man, Yellow Jacket) = Atom Man
Dr. Ray Pym (or Hank Palmer) was a scientist who discovered a fragment of a White Dwarf Star. Using that fragment he was able to create what his called Pym (Palmer) Particles, which he could use to alter the size and mass of anything, including himself. The Particles in question are sort of mini light grenades, in a way. Pym (Palmer) is able to use them to bath himself, or whatever, in light similar to the White Dwarf.
Pym (Palmer) decided to use this power to help mankind, he became The Atom Man. He made himself a suit that would allow him to alter his body and clothes without ripping them and, more importantly, without putting an incredible amount of strain on his body.
Pym (Palmer) was one of the first ALA, Avengers League of America, and has even fought along side the famous Super Soldier.

s.jpg

Silver Surfer + Green Lantern = The Silver Lantern (that or the Green Surfer)
Hal Jordan was just a test pilot when he was summond to the middle of the desert by Norrin Surr (or Abin Rad). He was the Silver Lantern, but he was now dieing. He passed on his power to Hal.
(Not sure how to combine this exactly, should Hal now have to work for Galactus? Did Abin (Norrin) break away from Galactus and thats what killed him? Or Maybe Abin was a space cop, like the GLs, and gave that up to be Galactus's herald in order to save his space sector.
Hey, I think I like that.
Abbin Rad (or Norrin Surr) was a member of the Silver Lanterns, space cops, and was charged with the mission of protecting Space Sector 2814. Galactus, a rough Watcher of the Universe, attacked and to save his sector he became Galactus's herald.
Oh, wait, no. That leaves out the Galactus giving the surfer his powers then.
I guess you have to either give up the Lantern Corps, or the Herald of Galactus. If only we could keep both, merge both perhaps.
Anyway, Silver Lantern is GL + Silver Surfer.

c.jpg

Captain Marvel + Captain Mar-vell = Captain Marvel
Billy Batson uses two alien wrist bands to become Captain Marvel, when he hits them together and yells SHAZAM! (Shazam being something like a voice key to unlocking the power). Billy's DNA is alterned turning him into a Kree super soldier with super speed, strength, wisdom, etc. These bands, while alien, had been held on Earth by a man claiming to be a wizard, and claiming to have been guarding them for centuries. (Perhaps the Kree put a human in charge of the wrist bands, and altered his life span so he can live longer).
As Captain Marvel young Billy became a full grown adult with super powers, and a costume (which was a traditional Kree uniform).
Billy fought along side heroes like the Super Soldier, Atom Man, Thor (Wonder Woman + Thor) and others, and even was a member of the ALA, and the ALI, for a while.

SilverLanternThurstforPower.jpg

In the Amalgam Universe Silver Lantern travels around collecting objects, weapons, and artifacts, of extreme power throughout the universe. Thorian's Hammer, Thanosied's glove with the Infinity gems, Captain Marvel's wristbands, the Cosmic Cube, Stangefate's helmet and medallion, etc.
(Like how Hal went mad and around taking Lantern's rings and became Parallex)
I guess it starts off with the best intentions. He wanted to rid the Universe of its threats, Galactus, Thanoseid, and Mongol + whoever.
But the more power he gets, the more power he craves.

any drawing style thats really simple and i could do in photoshop? lol

Here is a quick one I just made, so if its not good then its only a rough draft:
DC + Marvel = Amalgam

Kumandi + Killraven = Killmandi
Killmandi2.jpg

Killmandi.jpg

In a post Apocalyptic Future, Kumandi Raven is the last human boy with human intelligence. In the last Great War Aliens invaded and War between the invaders and Earth erupted, resulting in super evolved humanoid animals as the dominant species and humans as the lesser species (used as cattle, food, pets, and entertainment).
Kumandi was forced to fight for his life against other humans as a much younger child, he survived and earned the nick name Killmandi.
Now Killmandi and some Animal rebels work to overthrow the balance, and free all the humans.

Well, thank you very much. Glad you are.

Here is some more

l_f3cc1b9dcaa415e25fbe3c17e3ce57da.gif

(I didn't make this by the way)

I merged Batman and Spider-Man because of some similarities in their comics, both have some of the most interesting villains in comics, both lost loved ones greatly influencing their life's as vigilantes. But I wanted to try something else,
I was inspired by Blue Spider, from page one, Spider-Man and Blue Beetle are very similar in personality and were both created (or co-created) by Steve Ditko.
And so...

Spider-Man + Blue Beetle = Red Spider

GoldenAgeBlueRedSpiderBeetlecolorro.jpg

The original Red Spider:
Ben Garret (Uncle Ben Parker + Dan Garret) was an archeologist who found a mystical Spider medallion. The medallion granted Ben super strength, speed, durability, and invulnerability.
During WWII he fought along side heroes like Super Soldier and, calling himself the Red Spider, was hailed as a hero. His costume is similar to the original Blue Beetle, except that his chainmale is now webbing.
Flash forward more recent times. "Uncle Ben" is now taking care of his nephew Peter with his wife, her sister's son, after they were killed in a plain crash. Ben has retired, from his daily job and from being a superhero. Peter first came to live with Ben and May when he was only ten, now Peter is a senior in High School.
One day Ben is forced out of retirement and becomes the Red Spider again. Peter just so happens to be near and accidentally distracts the Red Spider. He is shot and the villain got away.
Peter is shocked when the Red Spider calls out for him. Peter removes his mask and sees it is Uncle Ben.
Ben gives Peter the medallion and asks him to carry on as the new Red Beetle. Peter promises.
Later Peter tries to use the Spider Medallion but is unable to, but he made a promise to Uncle Ben, he is responsible for his death.
so...
GoldenAgeBlueRedSpiderBeetle2.jpg

BlueRedSpiderBeetle2rough.jpg

Peter Kord (Peter Parker + Ted Kord) creates weapons, an armored suit, and using only his athletic ability and his inventions, becomes the new Red Spider.
Peter finds that Uncle Ben also had a Spider-Mobile, and with some modifications Peter makes it the "Bug". a flying spider looking vehicle. (A reoccuring joke is that Spiders don't fly)
Peter has a hard time at first because he is still in high school, he finds out that now the public sees the new Red Spider as a vigilante and a menace, and he has to keep this life from Aunt May (who may or may never have known about Uncle Ben either).
One of Peter's inventions he uses the most is his Spider-Gun, it shoots a type of webbing, or a blinding light. All his weapons are non-lethal. He also has "Spider-trackers."
Peter's costume comes equipped with buttons and triggers, some to contact his "Bug" and others for other reasons, he also has webbing under his arms to allow him to glide better.
Peter has no powers, and sometimes uses inventions like night vision goggles.

Heres the back of his costume, minus the webbing:
ReverseBeetleback.jpg

Or maybe instead of Spider, maybe its Beetle-Man:
Beetle-Man.jpg

Beetle-Mancolorsrough.jpg

See, instead of a spider its a beetle logo. His costume is still red and blue, but no webbing.

Here is another costume idea for the Red Spider:
BlueRedSpiderBeetle3.jpg

BlueRedSpiderBeetle3colorroughs.jpg

Maybe there is no webbing at all.

I have tried to design a costume that evenly merges Beetle's and Spidey's.
And it got me thinking that there are a variety of different ways to merge not only their designs but the characters as well. Blue Spider, Red Spider, Beetle-Man, there are lots of possibilities.
Even mixing a character like Spider-Man with Batman, or Batman with Iron Man, or Iron Man with Steel, or Spider-Man with Blue Beetle, or Spider-Man with Super Boy, there are lots that can be done.
They were both, Blue Beetle and Spider-Man, designed by Steve Ditko you know.
(By the way, I traced these from pics of Blue Beetle and added my own costume design. It was quicker that way.)

These are cool ideas:up:

Maybe both are viable. Peter becomes red spider (like the gogles on the first but closed masked on the other)

But the reason he doesn't get powers is he never finds the villian the hood his uncle was trying to stop and took it so he creates the cocky beetleman identity and decides its easier to be a hero and he can get what he wants that way.

Thanks, thats very true. I have looked back into Amalgam comics recently, wouldn't it be cool by the way if DC and Marvel teamed up again to release a line of Amalgam comics (maybe even another company), but I digress,
In Amalgam they merge DC and Marvel, they merge 2 DC characters, 2 Marvel characters, 2 DC and 1 Marvel, etc. Prime example is Bishop + Martian Manhunter + Professor X = Mr X
So why not have one Red Spider and another Beetle-Man. Thats cool with me.

I have another one, I also posted this elsewhere but I have since revamped the origin story:
DC + Marvel = Amalgam

New Gods + Inhumans = New Inhuman Gods

Odin, Thor, Loki, and all the good and evil Norse Gods died during Ragnarok. Ragnarok also tore the planet of the Norse Gods in two leaving behind nothing but barren planets. But with the death of the Norse Gods brought the birth of the New Inhuman Gods.
On one planet, in areas once occupied by Asgarand Valhalla then grew into New Genesis and was ruled over by the loving High Father (maybe son of Thor, once Thor became Odin). Under his rule New Genesis grew into a paradise, peaceful and advanced in technology.
The other planet, which once contained the lands of Hel, grew into the dark planet of Apocalypse and was ruled with an iron fist by the dark and evil Thanosied (another son of Thor perhaps). Under his boot heel the planet became a hatefilled pit of evil, advanced in polution and weapons, feeding its rulers but starving its slaved citizens.
Thanosied wanted the Anti Life Equation, a power that would give him the keys to ruling the Universe. this led to war between the two planets, until an uneasy deal was finally reached.
High Father and Darkseid would exchange their children.
High Father raised Orion like his own. Black Orion grew up into a wise leader and a brave warrior.
Thanoseid raised High Father's son, Karnac. He was brought up in the Orphanage, a horrible place, and did all he could to escape at every given chance. This developed into a skill, almost a second nature or a power, he could see the flaw in anything, any structure, any plan.
He also freed another New God raised in the Orphanage, Big Gorgan.
She was big, around 6 something, and very strong. With one mighty stomp she could cause a lot of damage.
Black Orion, Karnac the Miracle, Big Gorgan, Medussa (not sure who she'd merge with), and Triton (not sure either), are the New Inhuman Gods, and fight Thanoseid at every turn.
newgodinhumans-1.jpg

Black Orion (Black Bolt + Orion)

inhumannewgods.jpg

Karnac + Mr. Miracle = Carnac the Miracle, Big Barda + Gorgan = Big Gorgan. They are a Happy Couple.

kalimax.jpg

Maximus + Kalibac = Kalimax: Another son of Darkseid, half brother of Black Orion, raised on Apocalypse. He is a monstrous creature who wants to kill Black Orion and rule New Genesis. He is often a disappointment to his father.

metron.jpg

Metron + the Watcher = Metron the Watcher: While many of the Watchers became Guardians of the Universe and keepers of the Lanterns, Metron became the Watcher of the 4th World and the New Inhuman Gods. He is neither good nor evil, he does nothing to stop Thanoseid nor does he help him. Only one rare occasions does Metron interfere and take sides. But he does like to tutor young New Genesis students by showing them the past, present, future, and alternate worlds.

thanoseid.jpg

Darkseid + Thanos = Thanoseid: Perhaps it is because he seems unable to die or be killed that Thanoseid seeks out death and destruction and will stop at nothing to get the Anti Life Equation. Thanoseid is a demonic dictator who rules with an iron boot, he feeds off the misery and pain of his slaves who toil in the fire pits of Apocalypse. His greatest weapon, besides himself, is his Infinity Gems he wears on his glove.

Jack Kirby created Thor, I read he began thinking up a story about Ragnarok (the death of the Norse Gods) and the birth of new characters he would call the New Gods.
But he new Marvel would never kill off Thor so he kept it to himself until he was able to bring it to another company.
Thus New Gods were born in DC, not connected to Thor comics.
Jack Kirby also created the Inhumans, a race of powerful beings like the Inhumans. And i think that maybe the Inhumans were his version of the New Gods at Marvel.
So I merged the two using the Ragnarok idea.

Artisean = best amalgam character designer and story make ever!
WOW, thanks so much. I try.

got any tips on how i should practice, other than just keep drawing?
Just pencil mileage I guess. But if you just want to present your ideas you can trace an already existing drawing like I do sometimes, you can just use one of the drawings and draw your own by looking at that one, stuff like that.
But if you really want to learn how to draw in that style then you sort of have to keep practicing.

Here is one I read on another site, someone mentioned two characters they'd like to see merged, and since I already did Super Hulk,
why not this one:

Marvel + DC = Amalgam

Powergirl + She-Hulk = Power-Hulk?
956908-timm_powergirl_color_1.jpg

Unlike her cousin Clark/Super Hulk, Power-Hulk can control her transformations. She has actually chosen to stay in her Hulk form permanently.

okay, thanks, um any tips on the body and arms and legs? i've got the head, im not gonna say mastered, but they are recognisable, but the body is um, not good. lol

I just love Power-hulk since both o original characters are super sexy

Oh thanks, I was going to merge She-Hulk and Supergirl, but I had already done a Hulk in the blue and red costume, so I thought I would use a different Kryptonian with a different costume. So i used Powergirl. Plus someone mentioned the idea elsewhere.

Not having the X-men evolution styled guide I am not sure, but here is a tip that might help, i hope:
evolutionart.png

The designs seem to use lots of straights and curves in contrast to eachother. Like in the arms and legs especially. As for the torso, I am not sure. But I hope you can figure it out. Drawing through the objects helps a lot too.
I hope I helped somehow, but I am not sure. Just keep practicing I guess.

Biggest problem I have with this is the lack of boob window. Not for pervy reasons, but PowerGirl explained it so well during Infinite Crisis, I think it's a vital part to her costume, much like the eyes of Spider-Man, or more fittingly the :super:.
