The Avengers Amanda Righetti is Sharon Carter

If Peggy takes a youth potion, most of the Avengers will want a piece of her, especially Tony Stark.

As much as I love Hayley Atwell, and I'm deeply in love with her, if Peggy takes a youth potion, I'm walking out of the theatre. If I couldn't handle adamantium bullets, I sure as hell can't handle youth potions.

lol...you won't have to worry about that.

What we have here is the same case with Thor's MCU position when it comes to his own romantic life. He's currently involved with Jane, but mythology states that he ends up with Sif.

We had a tragic ending for Steve and Peggy in the MCU films, and comic book mythology states that he's to enter in a relationship with Sharon..so I doubt that they'll go up against that.

But, IF Amanda is playing her, or if someone else is playing Sharon, that person will have the burden on having to perform at the level that Atwell did in order to make this new relationship believable and worth watching.

I'm not against the idea of Atwell playing Sharon. A modern haircut, different tan and American accent could easily & believably sell her as Peggy's granddaughter.

What? So she was 18 when she was that high of a ranking officer? I know these things should be overlooked when were talking about movies but that just kind of bothers me.

Having her still be alive kind of takes away a bit of the poignancy of the ending of Cap. Yea he still missed out on having a life with her but he'll still be able to see her again. I rather she had passed on and have Sharon bring Steve to the grave of Peggy at the end of Avengers instead.

It wasn't 70 years exactly. it was 1945-2011, which is 66 years. Saying "You've been asleep for 66 years" sounds stupid, so Fury says "Almost 70."

If we're to take the comic book universe as gospel in the movie universe, Peggy Carter was born in 1920, which would make her 23 at the start of the film, 25 at the end of the film, and 91 in modern times.

Now that we know Peggy is alive, I wonder if they will address that in The Avengers?

Honestly, while I enjoyed Atwell in the movie, I don't think her performance was that amazing. You're making it sound like it's going to be next to impossible for anyone playing Sharon to match what Atwell did as Peggy, which I don't agree with at all.

If he did indeed wake at 2011 and Peggy is stated to be 88 at that time than by movie timeline she would have been 19 in 1942 when she first met Cap.

I believe Atwell did very good in her role but there wasn't really enough of her in the movie to make it difficult to match. They just have to make Steve and Sharon falling for each other believable and if they have chemistry together its not very hard with good writing.

I've yet to see it said in any official source that Peggy is 88 in modern times; care to share?

But, I think Cap takes place around when IM2 did (when he wakes up), which was shortly after IM1. So, that means she'd be 88 because the film would take place in 2008. Not 2011. If we're assuming IM1 took place when it was released, which was 2008.

Well if you go back to page 3 of this thread where you quoted me from, that conversation was started based on the fact herolee10 said she was 88 from an interview. I don't know for sure that is correct, I was just basing my response from what the post said.

Well this probably doesn't matter but if you look at the ads of Time Square at the end I see one of Daniel Radcliffe for his play which has to be after 2008, 2010 at least. Yea I know of course they're not gonna change everything to fit 2008 but I'm just saying.

Even so if its 2008 and Cap was frozen in 1945, its only been 63 years. Fury needs to work on his math skills and say over 60 instead of almost 70.

Well, if it was 2011, it is closer to 70 years than 60. I don't think Fury saying almost 70 years is stupid. It's fine how he phrased it.

^Well yes than this goes back to my original issue of her being pretty young(19) when she meets Cap if the age of 88 is indeed true.

I've always operated under the assumption that the MCU "begins" in 2008 with Iron Man, and that its "present day" is now in either late 2008 or in 2009. If that's the case, and Peggy is 88 by the time of The Avengers (sorry, I must have missed that reference, where did it come from?), then she would have been born in either 1920 or 1921, which would have made her either 21 or 22 when she met Steve in 1942. That's not so bad.

The statement that Peggy Carter is "now" 88 years old was made by Joe Johnston in an interview.

Q: In terms of that 70-year period, what was the explanation for what happened to him between when he got into the original crash in the beginning and the hospital scene at the end? How did they preserve him? I was kind of disappointed that he never made the date.

JJ: So was he. It was Dr. Erskine’s serum that allowed him to be frozen for 70 years and not die basically. It was better than Walt Disney. (loud laughter)

KF: That’s right, Disney bought you guys.

JJ: No, it was the extreme cold and Dr. Erskine’s serum that allowed him to survive.

Q: Did the lady ever find out what happened to him?

JJ: When he’s brought back to life, the lady is 88 years old. I mean, I would love to see them have that date.

KF: It’s a May-December romance. Stay tuned.

JJ: That’s right.

Q: Does that mean Peggy’s still alive?

JJ: Yes, oh yeah, absolutely. She’s still alive.

Thanks!

EDIT: Whoops, double post.

That's not a "May-December" romance --- that's a January-December romance.

Peggy Carter wouldn't be a cougar....she'd be a damn-near extinct saber-tooth tiger.

Maybe they'll include a scene with Steve jumping her bones while she's in her iron lung.

Who cares about nitpicking about the age? We are speculating about Righetti and the identity of her character from Cap. Is it Sharon or just a random nameless character?

If Peggy Carter is still alive in modern times, she will have so many wrinkles in her chin she will look like a Skrull.

The one thing that I wonder is that should his reunion with a elderly Peggy be saved for the sequel to CA or take place in the Avengers?

I've been thinking about this a lot. I think it should only be hinted about what happened to Peggy in The Avengers. I think Shield/Fury would have Cap believe she's dead, so that he can focus on 'the mission'. Then have it revealed that she's actually alive at the end of Avengers, and then that story-line can continue into Cap 2.

There's going to be so much going on in Avengers with so many character arcs that the Peggy/Sharon/Cap relationship aspect won't have enough time to be properly developed...

Indeed; though I wonder how all of this will be factored in IF Sharon Carter is indeed in this film as well.

I hope whoever plays Sharon she is introduced to Steve by someone saying ''Agent Carter!''
in a sentence and then Steve hears this and he's in shock because he thinks it's Peggy but as he turns around he sees it's a different woman.

This reminds me of the scene in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery where Elizabeth Hurley's character is introduced. It kind of makes me wonder if the Kensingtons in Austin Powers were actually an intentional homage to the Carters, but I digress.
