True that. I was too young when the first Spider-Man game came out. We need Spider-man Legends!

Exactly :woot: I remember playing Spider-Man on PS1 and thinking "wouldn't it be cool if Spider-Man could actually roam around an entire city some day...", and then later, we got Spider-Man 2. It was such a huge step to Spider-Man games I feel. Then, we got Shattered Dimensions later... that I feel was a step back. I'm glad that Beenox decided to make free roam Spidey-games again

TASM got a lot right (wall crawling, combat, web swinging) but even those had problems like sticking to walls wasn't smooth like in Spider-man 2, combat animation is a little choppy, and web didn't attach to walls, and it's almost like they think we're stupid when they put that you only have to hold R2 to web swing

I feel that studios think there has to be some sort of story all the time. Just do what Lego Batman did and have the Master Planner (Who non comic book fans are probably unaware of who that is) have a mass breakout and Spidey stops a large amount of his rogues gallery. That is what I feel a lot Spidey games are missing. A large cast. It is not a movie, it could work. And I'm not talking about turning good characters into infected hybrids. Make a comic book game. Have alternate costumes, and heck, throw some famous storylines in there. A breakout happens, and uh oh! A meteor with the symbiote crashes to Earth. These are just ideas, but really, X-Men Legends had a basic story, and integrated a WHOLE bunch of characters from the X-Men world. Same with M:UA.

Yep

I leave the button as soon as the *****e leaves the line

For someone who said he likes both characters a lot, you do seem to lean more toward the thought; "Yay Spidey, meh Batman"

not to sound hipster-ish but the so called "fans" that only emerged AFTER TDK came out have ruined Batman for me.

I use to love batman, then got more interested in Spidey but still really liked BatMan, now BatMan is just meh cause he is way over hyped.

Iron Man is just as overhyped too. nobody hardly ever gave a damn about BatMan or Iron man until Iron Man and TDK came out.

I don't understand how some of you don't see it, well i know soem of u are still blind, high, and drunk off the hype surrounding their films.

and don't get em wrong i'm guilty of being sucked into the hype as well. it's hard not to.

but after 2008 was over i took a step back and realized neither movie was as awesome as people make them out to be, not just the movies that came out that year but the rest in their respective series as well.

I mean I like IronMan AND BatMan, i like their comics, i enjoyed cartoon shows they have been in, and like all their films.

But they are over hyped.

Their movies and their games. and as characters neither one of them deserve as much hype as they have been getting either.

u can argue all day long about "omg this was awesome and that was awesome" about them, but i still say its all hype.

are they actually awesome? yes. are the movies awesome? yes

games? yes

as awesome as everyone makes them out to be? heck no.

I'm not a Spidey fanboy either. most often times fanboys are placed into two categories: the fans who LOVE everything, or the fan who HATES everything.

I'm neither. I'm the fan who genuinely likes and sometimes loves certain Spidey things, and genuinely dislikes and sometimes hates Spidey things.

so I'm a hardcore fan who, despite likes Batman is annoyed how it seems like everyone worships him? sue me!

It's your opinion, that's fine.

my opinion= judge dredd

meaning

its the law

and

I AM THE LAW

jk

sorry i'm in a random mood at this exact moment in time and just wanted to set up a way for me to use that line

Pretty good, I think you posted that in the wrong thread though.

Can someone please explain how the combat animation looks choppy? Cause, honestly, it looks rather smooth to me and flows pretty nicely.

When Spidey starts his attacks with punches, that's where the animation isn't only bad but actually pretty much sucks.

Apart from that, some issues I have with the animations are the same as with Beenox' past games though much improved now. I think there are still cases where you clearly see "animation -> brief pause -> animation". The flow is still not perfected.

So, it's just at the start of the attack before getting the combo boost and unlocking the better moves? Cause even at the point you're describing, I don't see it. Maybe I never will and lol, maybe I don't want to either. I enjoy it too much.

It's not THAT bad though, but it's still far from perfect, that's what I mean. It could be improved alot. The ideas and some animations are top notch though!

I can see a difference in the flow between this game and Arkham City. AC has a smoother flow to it but at the same time I don't see the 'choppy-ness' in the flow of ASM. It's not quite as smooth but the animations still flow really well imo. I do agree that if Beenox had, say, another 6 months to polish it and possibly add some more ideas, it would be better.

It will probably be improved 'til next game. Beenox had some ideas they didn't have time to use here. I look forward to see it!

Someone on another forum made a post about including an ability to choose what type of webbing to fire. In his example, he made the controls similar to how Bats uses the quickfire of his gadgets during combat.

So, not word for word, but basically: (using PS control layout)

L1 + Triangle = web to face
L1 + Circle = disarm weapon (either knife or gun)
L1 + X = web multiple enemies
L1 + Square = web enemies feet

And the circle button on it's own would still be used for basic web shots and performing signature moves.

Even with all upgrades. Some times he just repeats the same animation consecutively before doing the next attack. In Batman it flows better because, after he punches with the right arm, for example, then he does with the left, then with the right one again. It feels natural.
Spidey, sometimes, gets stuck with the first right punch, then he does exactly the same punch animation again and sometimes a third and fourth times, with the body always moving the same way as before. It's like a glitch preventing him from evolving the beating.

Sounds like a great idea!
