so I'm not the only who thought about batman when reading this :woot:

Yeah, Langdon is claustrophobic because he fell down in a well and spent several hours in it before being rescued !
No, ur not alone :hehe: and indeed, it has to do with what happened during his childhood. It was explained in DVC (both the book and the movie).

"Angels and Demons" remained ruler of a robust foreign box office in its second frame with $60.4 million at about 10,610 playdates in 99 markets, topping the $50.1 million overseas opening for "Night at the Museum: The Battle of the Smithsonian" at 8,100 in 93 markets
Sony's religious thriller's continuing to show far more traction overseas than domestically with foreign grosses at $198.3 million -- more than double the domestic cume of $81.5 million -- as many major markets saw solid holdover performances with declines under 40% and a $5,693 per-location average.

Germany led the "Angels" way again with $8 million, off only 25%, for a $23.6 million cume, followed by the U.K. decreasing 36% to $4.7 million and Spain down 39% to $4.4 million. Mexico, which had seen its launch delayed due to the flu outbreak, debuted with $4.1 million for the biggest opening of 2009 and 24% shy of the first frame of "The Da Vinci Code."

Japan declined 31% to $3.9 million and France was off 39% to $3.65 million. Italy, which had posted the second highest opening, slid 56% to $3.5 million for a $17 million cume.

"Angels" has already grossed 37% of the final foreign cume of "Da Vinci," which finished its run with $540 million internationally in 2006. Sony's held off on releasing "Terminator Salvation" overseas, where it has nearly all the rights, until next weekend in Asia and until the first June frame in most major markets.

"Angels and Demons" is already the biggest international grosser this year, topping the $192.8 million foreign cume for "Fast and Furious," which dominated in April.

for now it's at around 280 millions$ ....

I really liked it. The Da Vinci Code felt more like a tedious seminar than a film, but this story had tension and genuine emotion. Great score and beautiful atmosphere.
Hanks performance again felt rather uninspired, other aspects of the film were good enough to make up for it though.

One of the better sequels I've seen to a movie that I didn't like.

i hate how people expect oscar worthy movies in summer flicks...and give them awful reviews because they are...wait for it...summer flicks.

i hate that excuse!

there are great summer movies, good summer movies and horrible summer movies. just because a film is " a summer flick" does not preclude it from being good or even great.

entertainment value and good filmaking are not mutually exclusive.

see iron man, raiders, the dark knight, empire strikes back, superbad and forgetting sarah marshall, terminator 2, hellboy 1 and 2, jaws, E.T., minority report, and anything made by pixar.

quality is quality.

Not to mention the plethora of horrid "oscar-worthy," movies; I roll my eyes every time I see that term attached to a film as though it indicates a film is high class art.

Agreed. just because a movie is released as a "prestige" film is no promise it will be good.

i like the movie. good story but the ending could be more ''mean'' if you get me :)
i must say the CGI church was very good. it looked so real.

found on the IMDB (you're not obliged to trust theme I know but anyway...):
Clint Eastwood expressed interest in directing the film, but Ron Howard was contractually obligated to it because of his contract from The Da Vinci Code (2006).

Clint ??? Doing the movie ????:wow::wow: Awesome (at least it could have been)

Leonardo DiCaprio turned down the role of Camerlengo Patrick McKenna. He declined despite being offered the role personally Tom Hanks.
could have been nice but Ewan is perfect !

Five minutes were cut after the film received an R rating.
I'm curious to see what it is....:huh:

In the prequel, Langdon remarks to Sophie Neuveau that perhaps she cured his claustrophobia by laying her hands upon him. It appears that she did so indeed, as in this movie Langdon is twice confined in a small, glass room with poor ventilation and seems unfazed. He also seems fine when he needs to squeeze through a small alley between two very close walls in his search for the bomb.
that's what I stated before (and I didn't remember the "passetto" moment which confirms it).....too bad if true because it was a nice flaw for the character !

...and I love how the goof section is filled with historical and geographical innacuracies :woot::woot:

Update:
Domestic: $106,066,546
+ Foreign: $252,056,287

= Worldwide: $358,122,833

Indeed, very good numbers worldwide as i expected :yay:

I really liked the ominous tone and beat of the score.

The score was amazing!

This will probably end up being the fourth best grossing movie of the year, behind Harry Potter, Transformers and Up.

Angels & Demons, mustered an estimated $6,500,000 this weekend for a domestic total of $116,125,000. It also brought in $22.3 million this weekend overseas and stands as 2009's top-grossing picture internationally at $292.9 million.

I knew this movie would get the bigger bucks internationally. There's more appeal for Dan Brown books worldwide me thinks.

It's become the first movie to cross the $400 million mark this year: http://www.screendaily.com/sony-rul...salvation-surges-towards-100m/5002225.article
Meanwhile Angels & Demons added $22.3 in its fourth weekend from 9,190 screens in 100 territories for $293m internationally and $409m worldwide and held exceptionally well in Northern Europe.

I can't wait for 'The Lost Symbol'! September can't get here soon enough.

Sony's Angels & Demons earned an additional $4.2 million thisweekend. Domestically the film has earned $123.3 million, but internationally it has already reached $315 million for a worldwide total of $438.3 million.
