No way did
Drax just kill Thanos
. I was really looking forward to seeing Thanos destroy some ass. I know he aint "dead" he'll probably show up to release Galactus at the end of the arc, but i thought they should have atleast had a fight instead of
Drax just ripping his heart out.
Thoughts?

Dude contact a mod and ask for the thread title to be change to Annihilation #4 spoilers.

Your ruining it for people whom don't have it yet.

Yeah well my freakin' jaw dropped when I saw that, you never expect Thanos to get done in and especially not at that 'blink of an eye' pace. It is a good cliffhanger since he was literally seconds away from releasing Galactus.

Annhilation has yet to dissapoint.

I disagree man. That was damn Awesome. Drax went through a rebirth and it was never specified what his capabilities were it was only speculated. There is no way you can claim that it was unrealistic or anything and it great storytelling.

So far Annihilation has been 100x better than civil war.

The probation is not because Harlekin simply showed attitude, but HOW he showed it. When a post is deleted, it is deleted for a reason, so consider it a warning. You did something inappropriate and we are giving you the opportunity to understand why it was wrong. If you post the same thing AGAIN, then it is obvious that you know you are breaking the rules, so all we can do is figure you are a troll and deal with you accordingly. If Harlekin serves this probation out without attempting to post under a new name or otherwise sneak around his probation, then he will be allowed back, no muss, no fuss. It's merely a day off to calm down. Anyone who raises a stink is more than welcome to join him.

Now lets get back to the thread topic? Thanks

Hopefully I can ask these questions without getting banned. (It's meant as a question to understand what's allowed and what isn't.)

First, does questioning a judgement made by a mod (especially one that was made public) get a) someone's posts deleted and b) possibly banned? (I do appreciate that in deleting my post that you also deleted all the posts in question. This isn't about the initial argument, but as I said an understanding of what people are allowed to post.)

Basically, if we disagree with something, what's our forum for discussion? In fact, could a thread be made for discussion of disagreements where a mod can answer questions posed by people who frequent the hype?

If you ever have a question with a mod's decision, feel free to PM that mod or any other and direct them to the thread in question. If we feel it was unjustified or an over-reaction, we will be more than ready to remedy the situation. Stomping your feet and calling us names in the public areas only makes you look like a flamer.

Back on topic, yes, it was a cool scene and hopefully it wont be reverted or taken back in anyway.

Seems fair to me, though I may point out that to my knowledge, Harlekin didnt repeat said offense but merely made a snarky comeback at Morg's ax waving comment.

I'll be glad to comment on ANNIHILATION #4.

ANNIHILATION #4: Now officially better than CIVIL WAR and free of all the pretentious political angst, Annihilation offers kick-arse heroes doing kick-arse things with Giffen putting in another classic and DiVito all but rising up to be this generation's George Perez, IMO. Every issue of this series just seems to get better than the last, and unlike so many other Marvel comics, doesn't feel the need to APOLOGIZE for the conventions and expectations of both superhero & space opera comics in general via making it more angsty or "urban", but simply does it well. It also doesn't place "head talking characterization" ahead of actually moving the plot FOWARD, a pratfall more writers should avoid; granted, Giffen has over a generation of experience.
Drax, who seemingly sacrificed his life to allow Cammi and the others to escape, secretly survived his gambit and did it so he could both keep Cammi safer and persue his true goal without any distractions; the murder of Thanos at any cost. So he slaughters past an army of bugs, kills off one of Annihilus' queen drones and steers a ship right for Thanos, an act Thanos can "feel" the closer he gets. Meanwhile, Moondragon (who, recall, lost an ear to Thanos) is kept in check via worms and Thanos even BURNS OFF HER SKIN FROM HER ARM to keep her in line. However, he uses her psychic powers to read Annihilus' mind and learn his true goals for his Wave and the Power Cosmic being sucked from Galactus; he doesn't merely want to conquor the universe, but DESTROY it. Now, I could see many a "modern" writer like Millar or Bendis being "ashamed" of so "simple, or hammy" a motivation, but Giffen doesn't care about all that, lays it bare and makes it work for him, like all classics do. Thanos, having joined Annihilus merely out of curiosity about where his war would bring him, decides to unhook the machines keeping Galacus in tow, only Drax arrives at the worst possible time.

Elsewhere, Nova has decided to go on a suicide mission to take out Annihilus to finish off the Wave since a conventional war is unwinnable. In a conversation with Starlord (Peter), Giffen simultanously vents some opinion about CW and also evolves Nova further as not merely a kid flying around, but a scarred, war hardened MAN.

Nova: "If I don't kill Annihilus...[looks at Earth], they DIE."
Peter: "Earth's got it's protectors. Hell, the FF alone stood down Galactus--"
Nova: "You've been monitering the transmissions from Earth. You know what's going on down there. 'A house divided cannot stand.' We had a united front and look where it got us! They're split into warring factions down there... of no use to us, to ANYONE! It's as if they've forgotten how to be heroes. I'd just as soon bring in the Badoon."
Peter: "They'll unite against a common foe, Richie. We've seen it a thousand times. The Annihilation Wave will--"
Nova: "-- RIP THE PLANET OUT FROM UNDER THEM WHILE THEY SHOOT AT EACH OTHER! I BECAME Nova because of them. I'll STAY Nova in SPITE of them."

ANY future writer who bungles Nova after this has no right to write comics. Period. Before Annihilation, Nova might have been worthy of joining the Avengers. If it keeps pace by it's finale, he could LEAD the Avengers.

So Nova, Starlord, Phyla and Cammi cobble together some bootleg teleport device which gives them a 60% chance to 'port to where Annihilus is to make their last stand. The transport begins, with Cammi seemingly left behind. But naturally the real bit that will make the fanboys squeal is Drax's quick and efficient dispatching of Thanos. He just drills through a shield and tears out his heart. Now, Thanos has come back from worse; I mean, he's an Eternal and they're basically unkillable, but it was still an incredible moment of kick-assery that makes you remember that once upon a time, Wolverine had whiskers and lost to Hulk after barely getting hit with one punch.
While most series take time to get to the good stuff, Annihilation has been gaining steam with every issue and has no hints of quitting. A must read for any fan. Great characters, great stuff, great everything. I honestly can't find much to quibble about. Even the "sci-fi gibberish" that Mike Carey is DROWNING in with UFF isn't present here. Just go out and buy it. Don't wait for the trade; track down the back issues, support it monthly, and be a man. Or wo-man.

I liked the Nova scene a lot actually.
Me too. I think it really "made" him (or remade him), and symbolized just how far this guy has come from Annihilation. I mean he started out as a guy who needed Spidey's help to fight the Rhino in MTU. And now look at him now. ;)

Looks like I'm going to need to go back and buy all the issues for this so far. In all honesty I passed it up, I thought it would be good, but I didn't bother with it. You guys all bragged on it, and it still didn't really hit me. After reading this I can see I should have picked it up, and plan to now. Those sound like some awesome scenes, and instead of rampant mischaracterization it's defining their characters further. That's one thing I always appreciated in comics, the further a character is pushed the further their personailty comes out and is refined and shaped. CW seems to have been the opposite, the further some characters are pushed the further they go down that dark path the opposite of what they've been up to this point. I wish Annihilation would have been pushed as the big event as it's a cosmic one with everything in balance, and CW been pushed back a bit because it's really only turning into an excuse to have as many hero's fight eachother on a page as it can. Not that it hasn't had it's moments, or some characters like Hercules aren't shining, it's just that Annihilation sounds like it's blowing CW out of the water.

I'm buying and bagging every issue, and then I'm buying the trade when it comes out. I've loved this story so far and I seriously hope we get some more of the space side of Marvel once this mini is finished. Seriously this has probably been the most enjoyable event in comcis this year for me and it came out of nowhere when I picked up a single issue out of curiosity.

i passed on it to,but when i saw the art on the inside i thought "hell no,this is ugly as hell".but when reading wat u guys said, and just looking at the cover of #4,i thought of really picking it up,but aftering hearing wat happens to thanos, i'll pass again

It's the best title comming out of any comic book company right now, period.

Scan is up.

i do hear good things from it but, thanos is probably my second fav character(until they bring venom back)and to see what happens to him(although it is a nice pic)sux to know he didn't even fight,it makes him look weak to me.
