Annihilation

That was hardly the case when he and Quasar confronted Annihilus. :(

Nova wasn't overpowered by Annihilus. Annihilus was just taking control of his power.

Its a bit of a paradox .... If he can wield the N-Zones version of the P.C. why has been bullying Thanos into doing his home work for him, on the P.C. ? On the other hand if he doesn't wield it (Which i suspect he doesn't), how does he control Ravenous and co ? Maybe his powers have had a Ret conned update, to allow the story to occur. According to Wiki, his 'Cosmic Rod' (Sounds like a Star Trek *****),can only generate the power of a 10 megaton nuclear bomb, which would be like a fire cracker to a Herald level being. Mind you the same source, suggest he beat Thor and Odin once ?

The Power Cosmic is renewable, and quite possibly, far more powerful (as beings like Galactus and gang show it to be, where it seems the Essence doesn't have such a big power base in the other place) He might just want ALL the power he can get. And since Thanos would be the most likely to understand it, it would be him you wanted to talk to.

The Cosmic Rod actually takes in other energy sources and such.

Most of Galactus's power is used to restrain Abraxas. The cosmic control rod does not use the power cosmic. It uses Cosmic energy.

Annihilus has had a big upgrade. Although sometimes he has wielded great power in the past e.g. when he created the negative field in Manhattan in Fantastic Four. Although his high showings can be countered with examples like Blastaar stealing the Cosmic Control Rod.

This last issue was too badass to go without resurrecting this thread.

Ronan breaking his hammer on Ravenous' face made absolutely no sense given their respective power levels but it was still damn awesome to see. And how 'bout that Galactus :D

Hah! Spoons you're awsome. I was just about to search for this thread, as I just read the newest issue.

I think this issue was the best one yet. I thought the previous issue was great, but this one was amazing. I've not given a lick about Ronan since this story began, but this issue alone with Ravenous and the Supreme Intelligence won me over. I think he's awsome, and I like Super Skrull more now as well. He provided some great dry humor. Nova is great as always, and Drax is just getting better by the issue. I really thought he messed up last issue, but he went and pulled it out this issue. Man this is great.

So some questions... do you think that
Thanos is truly dead? (yeah I know, dead in marvel isn't dead, but you get what I mean)... and do you think Moondragon will make it out of this thing alive?

I agree. I yawned all through Ronan's mini but now I've really taken a liking to the guy. I went into this event hoping to gain understanding and appreciation for spacey/cosmic characters and I sure as hell did. I'm all over the post-Annihilation titles I've seen in the upcoming solicits

I'm quite ignorant about Thanos' relationship w/ Death and his previous "deaths" so I can't really say. Going by general Marvel practices, I'd say no. I see Moondragon dying though, sending Drax spiralling off the deep end.(He pretends to not care about her, but he's shown that he cares)

Thanos is in love with Mistress Death (not sure why) and he is always trying to please her. The whole point of the Infinity Gauntlet was that he wanted to please her by killing everything (which by the way, is an excellent read. Read it if you haven't). Also, if you haven't read it and like Drax, his mini that was a lead in to Annihilation was also good, and showed his transformation from Dumb Drax into the current Drax. Good stuff.

I also get the feeling that Starlord won't be making it back. Either that or he somehow ends up with Quasar's powers and becomes the new Quasar.

Someway, somehow Quasar will be coming back. I can feel it in my bones. I never read Starlord but I like the guy; his sarcasm is much appreciated IMO. If he's Quasar, awesome.

I have the IG, always meant to read it. Probably do that this week. It's funny to see peopel liking this new Drax more than his old self even though he's had a MASSIVE power drop.

Does anynbody else think that when Thanos returns it will be Marvel next big cosmic event?

Especially with the return of Captain Mar-Vell and Quasar (I think it was hinted that he would make a comeback in Marvel Previews)

What would happen to Phylla?

Oh man, I can only hope that Wendell returns at some point - maybe the small remaining energy he retained from the Star Brand will be the key to his return, same as his previous ressurrection.

Please God, make it so.

She would have are father.

I didn't know if we were limited to one Cpt. Mar-vell. Like, if they shared a power source or something

I know your trying to push my buttons, but GOOD GOD what?

Um, I was refering to the possible return of Captain mar-Vell.

I think the Mar-Vell would keep the name, while everybody else drops it.

His name is Mar-Vell, he is Captain Marvel, nobody else is.

I don't think it's a possiblity anymore...

Tell that to DC.

Captain Marvel returning.

I meant he is the one and only Captain Marvel of the Marvel Universe.

Uh, yeah. I got that. Forgive me for attempting to make a light-hearted quip.
