Annihilation

War of Kings sounds like it will carry on the tradition of very entertaining space epic, only now with the possibility of Black Bolt vs. Vulcan action.

I love cosmic Marvel.

Annihilation was top notch.
The Mini's leading to it were less so, but still good overall.
The mini's leading to Annihilation : Conquest (Which is for all intentive purposes is Annihilation II) were good.
Annihilation : Conquest was good as well.

The problem with Conquest was that the scope and storytelling was no where near that of the original Annihilation, which everyone compared it to. Not that it's a bad thing, because it pretty much is a direct sequel to the first.

Nova, which spun out of Annihilation, has had a very solid first 15 issues, and is definatly worth it.
Guardians of the Galaxy, which spun out of Annihilation : Conquest, is kicking more ass than most books and it's only at it's 4th issue. The only thing I can see wrong with Guardians of the Galaxy is that if you didnt read through Annihilation:Conquest, you might be a little confused and lost.

I definatly suggest the entire "Annihilation" saga to anyone that hasn't read it. The mini's leading up to the original, the original, Nova spinning out, the mini's / tie-ins leading up to Conquest, Conquest itself, and Guardians. Marvel really did bring their cosmic game back with a bang with Annihilation, and Conquest kept it moving along. I wish they'd do a third one, as a trilogy of sorts, but they're running with War of the Kings instead next season.

Hope that helps you.

Thats great, thanks, already have Annihilation Book 1, ordering 2 and 3 now, once i'd done with them, I might go for the books you suggested, thanks again.

Also, one more question, the involvement of The Silver Surfer in the Annihilation books is what first drew me to them, is he in the other books you mentioned also?

He didn't play a role in Annihilation: Conquest.

But he did show up in a two parter Nova story.

He's not been in Guardians yet though.

^Oh, that puts me off a bit then. I originally only bought Annihilation because it so hard to hold of Silver Surfer TPB's over here. But if i really enjoy Annihilation, I might just get them anyway.

Believe me, I'm a huge Surfer nut, and even without him, the stories are fantastic and solid. I'm sure you'll enjoy them anyways. Heck, the story even made me care about character's that previously I never liked..such as Ronan.

The Annihilation: Conquest Prologue was one of the best single comics I have ever read.

It made me sad for Peter Quill...since it was the second disaster he was involved with.

Wiki said:
Years later, Star-Lord does battle with the Fallen One, the rogue Herald of Galactus. He is almost killed in the encounter, and eventually recovers and uses the residual energies from recently deceased souls to defeat the Fallen One, at the cost of Ship. After the battle, both Star-Lord and the Fallen One are taken to the Kyln, an intergalactic maximum security prison

This event cost thousands of lives, and Starlord was held accountable for it.

Oh yeah, he talked about that.

I liked when [BLACKOUT]the Spacknights revealed themselves to be part of the Phalanx and **** got pretty crazy from there. It just read really well.[/BLACKOUT]

This one rejuvenated him, though. Now he's leading the Guardians (or co-leading with Adam, I guess) and is at least more at peace with his past, if not exactly happy.

Yeah, until Drax splits his skull in half with a megapunch.

LoL alright I concede. I've got nothing else to contribute to this line of conversation.
Well done Anubis.
