Superman Returns Another Side-By-Side

kool, thanx.after seeing them side by side like that,I now think the S.R. plane rescue is my fav.

i always thought they were similar but this is pretty much copy and paste work...

bar margot kidder's reaction to superman catching her and that pimp calling superman's suit 'badass' and the crappy worldwide applause by everyone at the bugle (everyone at the baseball field should have been clapping, everyone at the bugle should have been jumping up and down), I think Returns does a better job of pretty much everything.

I love that pimp.

A Better job! PLEASE!!!!
When SR's superboy tear open his shirt Man, did you see that little A$$ :supes: ?
What an emotional let down, after seeing SUPERMAN original’s dramatic Clark into SUPERMAN transformation.
Superman’s Clark had a long rip, while SR’s Clark had a quick tear :woot:
SR’s Plane scene is copied from SUPERMAN the Animated series & Justice League.
See how smooth Donner’s SUPERMAN was in the big rescue scene, while SR’s boy wonder make boneheaded mistakes!
Man, was that a rough landing or what?
Who’s going to pay for all that damage done to the plane? :wow:

^^^You're joking right? Yeah, that'd be real intense if he just set the plane down with no difficulties.

an empty helicopter in free fall is not the same as a aircraft full of people spiralling out of control.

not in size, shape, potential damage.

some direct comparisons can't be made because the clips has superman reacting to different situations. I think you are clutching at straws

I only saw SR once in the theater. I didn't realize just how thoroughly Singer flat out copied STM! It's kinda embarrassing. However, I really enjoy both scenes. The SR plane/shuttle save was fantastic, as was the chopper scene in STM. The SR "shirt rip" was terrible though. Overall, the energy and sense of the heroic is more palpable in STM. The SR "copy" doesn't really compare favorably there. Flashing back and forth between Reeve and Routh really emphasizes just how much better Reeve looked/acted as Supes in pretty much every way. I like Routh and hope gets his chance to shine next time.

Pilot was onboard FYI, and Superman would have used two hands for the aircraft compared to one hand with the helicopter. :word:

Unfortunatly, his arm looked ridiculous the way he was holding the helicopter, Donner screwed that up.

You do of course realize that entire montage was designed to pimp SR. It was from the website about the Summer (06) of Superman's Return.

The reason there was no new movie footage in the montage was they didnt want to leak any additional film footage aside from the trailer at the time this was compiled.

And if you think Lois and Clark represents the best incarnation of Superman....... just wow.

^ Actually the montage was designed to hype people up for SUPERMAN, so SR can sell better to the buying public. They could have added footage that was used in the trailers to promote the film in the montage.
Oh! By the way I did not like Lois & Clark, but I have to give kudos to the show for bringing new fans to the table “mainly women”. Mr. Dean Cain was a solid SUPERMAN.

Given the trailer aired directly after the montage on the website, why would they need to show footage from it twice?

Anytime you bastardise Superman you alienate one group and appeal to another. Lois and Clark was an okay romantic comedy for the types that enjoy that but it definately alienated me from watching that crap.

It also proved how the Bryne element of Clark being the real person and Superman the disguise became totally unbelieveable if used in a live action format. Cain played them both exactly the same; which is why I thought his portrayal was dumb.

If they had include the footage in the montage, there would be no need for the trailer to follow the montage.
Stay focus, we’re talking about the BEST incarnation OF SUPERMAN to date.
I find it very cool that images of SR supes, was not included!!!!

Except they clearly wanted to show the whole trailer to pimp the film.

Youre arguement fails when the whole montage was designed to lead into the SR trailer that followed it.

This whole '2006= year of Superman' thing would have never come into existance if SR wasnt released. It was the big deal that the montage was hyping Supes for.

Additionally SR wasnt even on DVD at the time (it wasnt even released), so why would they show it in a \S/ DVD commerical?

I like a lot the Stm scene and i love the Sr one :yay:

Of course there are similarities , but seeing it again haters can say all they wan't that it is a copy , it's pretty clear that Sr has his own identity in those scenes too. :hyper:

This is why an action packed sequel has been greenlighted.
Well you know i am pretty satisfied with this movie and at first i didn't care for a sequel . kind of like what would be the point to make a sequel to Blade Runner?

but the more i think about it , the more i just think that i wan't to see a Singer 's Superman sequel action packed sequel..:yay:

can you just imagine? :hyper:

Its easier to imagine after playing the game. Essentially the game was the exact opposite of the film; action action action, fighting, Routh's Superman kicking ass and loads of comicbook supervillians............but no story whatsoever.

The key is obviously to find the balance between the two.
