I was really surprised when I walked into my theater today and there was a long line...but majority of the people were going to watch The Purge instead of Antman and The Wasp.

Count me as one of the people who don't understand the fascination/draw with dystopian films like The Purge.

I don't get it either, yet my son enjoys these films for some reason. Maybe I just need to give 1 a chance and stop turning my nose up at them. Sometimes a trashy, horror/action flick is a good thing. Not sure what they are, really.

Speaking of OS it opened on the 4th in South Korea and is currently at $15.3 million there. For comparision’s sake, the first film did a bit more than $21 million it’s whole run there.

Good to hear! Just hope it does well enough for Marvel to go ahead with a 3rd film and Ant-Man and the Wasp certainly deserves it.

80 mil is dissaponting for Antman 2 when the original made 57,5 mil ?

Is it great ? NO but its far from dissaponting.

I was expecting a 90-100 mil opening but 80 mil is still good.

80mill is fine this movie had a lower budget then most marvel films it only cost 130mill it should gross over 200mill domestic

It’s a movie with no cameos from any other heroes and was marketed without any connection to Infinity War beyond “Where was Scott during IW”? I’d say it’s a fantastic opening. Heck it’s only about $10M short of Justice League’s opening weekend.

Your theater is weird. Ant Man grossed an estimated $33,801,000 on Friday while the Purge grossed an estimated $6,060,000.

I think Ant Man and The Waso AMATW will gross more than 80 million this weekend. Maybe even 90 million. Most likely 85 M though. It should make more than Doctor Strange (final donestic gross) but we shall see. These are all domestic numbers btw

Everyone spinning this as a success when this is the worst opening for any MCU film sequel. People aren't buying the mediocrity anymore. They've been elevated with WS and other sequels.
