Ant-Man and The Wasp Ant-Man and the Wasp News and Speculation Thread

I'm not sure if Paxton and Maggie would turn Scott in. We don't know how they feel about what happened in Civil War. They seemed on good terms by the end of Ant-Man so they might look the other way if Scott came calling.

I could see Scott just agreeing to register after the slightest bit of pressure is placed on him by the government. he could easily say that he was misled by Captain America; being new to the game and, actually, being misled (they told him that they were going up against assassins). he's got more to lose than some of the other heroes; losing visitation with Cassie and potentially going back to prison. they might release him into Pym's custody or something. I definitely think that Hope would sign the Accords. I don't see much of an anti-authority streak in her. :shrugs:

Yes he could but then wouldn't his daughter's mother and her cop husband be aware of what Scott is doing or what he has already done? Because I am sure they all watch the news...it wouldn't exactly be a secret the things that Scott got involved in especially the events surrounding Civil War so I am sure Scott's ex and her husband they would probably figure out that Scott visits Cassie

The Raft looked like a potentially illegal set-up. Norman Osborn once avoided jail by exposing that he had been kept in a similar location. but I kind of expect Lang to make a deal/register in some form.

Yes my bad his daughter's name is Cassie but then afterwards I mean his daughter knows that he is Ant-Man and I am sure his daughter she watches the news so I wouldn't be surprised if his daughter has learned by now that her father Scott/Ant-Man was or is a fugitive

I wouldn't be surprised if his daughter thought it was really cool and is waiting for her Spider-man autograph. I kind of like the idea of Scott being a fugitive and Hope being the media-friendly size-changer.

Yes but then if Scott is a fugitive and Hope signs the Accords then what does that mean for them? I mean in the Ant-Man solo origin film we saw Hope and Scott become close almost to the point where you could assume that they would get together as a romantic couple so

well there's bound to be a conflict even if they both sign. they are very different people. maybe the beginning of the movie is Hope (as Wasp) apprehending Scott. from there, he's put on probation with Hope as the "parole officer" for lack of a better description.

Yeah but then that would cause more tension between Hope and Scott and considering the sequel is supposed to be about them not only teaming up but getting closer in the more traditional sense then where does that leave them then as far as in the romantic department

There's technically nothing legal about the Avengers and superheroes and what they are allowed to do.

Vigilantism is technically against the law. The heroes are not acting with any legally granted authority.

I'm just playing devils advocate. They weren't read their rights, given a phone call, given a court date, etc. and they weren't acting as vigilantes when they were captured. It was basically a street fight.

FWIW, you don't have to read someone their rights when they're arrested, only if you want to interrogate them. I suspect a phone call is a courtesy rather than a right as well, but I can't speak for every jurisdiction.

They worked for shield then the un after that didn't they? Before that cap worked for the us military.

No they didn't. Technically they were always acting on their own. Captain America, Black Widow and Hawkeye all worked for SHIELD then SHIELD was destroyed and they left. As a group, they were always acting on their own with no legally granted authority.

They could've been. It all could've happened off-screen. Plus keep in mind they were apprehended overseas probably by a joint task force. Street fights also still technically legal, plus they leveled a commercial airport. Think about the property damage for that.

Ehh, if she's not going to be with Hank then I'd rather Scott had his own Wasp. Hank and Jan should be together; if you're not having Hank as your Ant-Man, then don't have Jan as your Wasp.

I know this point is well beyond moot, but if your suggesting that Jan's character only works in tandem with Hank then on principle I have to disagree. Sure, most of Jan's comic book history is tied to Hank, but there is decades of material there to develope Jan as a full, rich character who is interesting all on her own.

I mean, I know it's not the strongest comparison, but has anyone played that Avengers Academy cell phone game? Hank is present but only as an unplayable professor character while Wasp is pretty much your main girl. And she is fantastic. Seriously, my friend dragged me into this game and while she is an MCU fan she has never read a single marvel comic. This game got her asking me about Wasp she's just such a cutie. And while I have never had any complaints about them skipping right to Scott it does make me wish we could have gotten an MCU adaptation of Jan.

I want for it to be revealed that Hank and Janet when they worked with SHIELD were co-named "The Avengers" and when Nick Fury was makes the "Avengers:Initiative" to get a group of heroes together for special missions, the name was picked in the Pym's honor.

This way Hank and Janet would be established as actually the first Avengers.

This seems like it would remove Iron Man, Thor, and sort of Hulk as founding members just to give the honor to Hank and Jan, which just sort of seems like a lot of backpedalling for nothing.

my personal choice is still a revitalized Advanced Idea Mechanics; co-opted by mad scientists (ex. Monica Rappaccini, Elias Starr, etc) whose plans are more nihilistic than profit-motivated (like Killian). they could even idolize Pym. I feel that A.I.M would play to Ant-Man and the Wasp's strengths by giving them an army of faceless characters to fight; led by people that can match them intellectually. you could even have them shrink down to fight some kind of A.I.M nanovirus. or, wait for it, an enlarged microbe; to stand in for the Creature from Kosmos. someone like Crossfire could also align with A.I.M to avenge his cousin

I feel like, tone wise, Ant-Man is the series best suited to pull of things like Modok or the AIM bee keeper suits. And hey those are even semi thematic!

Yeah I do wonder what effect being a fugitive again will have on his life and especially his relationship with Cassie

Can anyone tell me how old Cassie will be in Ant-Man & The Wasp? Assuming the movies are set in real time of course. I'm assuming also they age her like normal rather than like a movie kid.

Damn... We still don't know squat about this movie...

When do modern movies typically start producing news on a more frequent basis?

Filming starts next year at some point. We won't hear much news until the film starts gearing up to go into production.

Cassie will be 10 in the next movie.

Too young to become Stature? Or maybe not. Civil War indicated that going big exerted a lot of energy on Scott. 10 year olds have an over-abundance of energy. I hope Cassie goes giant in this movie.

I think it is still a bit too early for Stature. Reed seems focused on developing Wasp and her team dynamic with Scott's Ant-Man. I don't see a place for Stature in the movie just yet.

A potential third Ant-Man & Wasp movie or Young Avengers film is when we could possibly see Cassie become Stature.

I wonder if Scott will be a public super hero "fighting crime"?

This was inspired by Michael Keaton playing the Vulture in Spider-Man next year, but I like the idea of Danny DeVito as Egghead.

That would be a good idea.

I had an idea for a train sequence with Giant Man, since Marvel loves those so much. Where he grabs the train off the track while it's out of control. I dunno, there's alot of Giant Man stuff they can do. They need Giant Man vs a giant robot. The again, Legends of Tomorrow did it with Atom. Maybe made by Egghead like your idea.
