Ant-Man and The Wasp Ant-Man and the Wasp News and Speculation Thread

I would rather Wasp doesn't just look like Ant-Man with boobs but has her own distinct look. Otherwise it feels a bit like a budgetary thing to not have to design two different costumes.

It makes sense in this case though. The original pair had similar suits as well. I'm sure there will be slight differences and maybe even a costume change within the film itself, who knows.

I always found it funny Janet didn't have a mask in the comics. Al she would have to do is enlarge herself back to regular size and everyone would know her identity.

The technology is the same and the suits are designed by the same people so it makes sense for them to look similar.
Marvel already established some ground rules for the technology in the universe as well which means they can't really stray too far from what they established.

I hope we get to see Cassie again and if we do I bet any money they make Cassie more older in the sense that they decide to re-cast her into a teenager especially given the events of not only the first film but everything that went on with her father and her father once again becoming a fugitive it only makes sense for Scott's daughter to be a teenager

Janet had a public identity in the comics though. She didn't have a secret identity but was like how Iron Man is with Tony Stark in the MCU. She was this celebrity fashion designer and superheroine. She had plenty of costumes.

I think Wasp could have an invisible mask so that she is utilising the same technology in the movies, but just that she prefers her face to be seen. I personally would like Wasp having many different costumes of different colours.

Nice.

I would rather Wasp had a see-through helmet rather than one that just looks like Ant-Man's.
Um, because then why wouldn't Ant-Man also choose to wear the far more practical see-through helmet instead of keeping his cumbersome gas mask?

I figured they were gonna go with the helmet. If you had her go unmasked or with some sort of invisible thing you'd then have to justify why Ant-Man doesn't wear the same thing.

EDIT: Ninja'ed

Well they already moved away from the Janet Van Dyne fashionista version. It's not the same Wasp. I'd agree with you 100% if it were.

Because Scott might think the full helmet looks cooler for him. There was never a need to justify the difference in looks in the comics.

Of course Wasp doesn't wear a full mask in the comics... she's a woman. For some very mysterious reason, superheoines are just naturally averse to wearing things that conceal their pretty faces.

Isn't that image a re-worked screencap from Ant-Man? When we see Hopes mother in the suit?

I'm ignorant and I don't know what the word "mothering" means in this context, but I'm pretty sure the only interaction Hope had with the suit in Ant-Man was when she stared at it in the post-credits scene.

When we see Hopes motherin the suit?

Translation: When we see Hope's mother in the suit.

Latest poster collaboration between artist Marko Manev and Marvel Studios. It's something from the last film but I imagine he'll be doing something for Ant-Man and the Wasp as well.

It's Andy Park concept art, and according to him this is the first it's being (publicly) seen.

Here's his post on tumblr:

Janet and Hank originally had secret identities in the comics. No one knew Janet was the Wasp because she was shrunk most of the time so couldn't make out her facial features.

She later revealed her identity (as did Hank) and became known as a public celebrity

These movies unfold mostly in real time.

It is unlikely they are time jumping years ahead just to age up Cassie.

Don't forget, the Ant-Man suit is at least twenty year old tech, same as the Wasp suit. They went unused for decades until Hank came along. So that would explain why they have older looking gas masks.

Maybe in a sequel they'll upgrade.

Hank has always been there in possession of the suits so he didn't just come along but could've upgraded them all that time.

Oh, I know he had the suits all along, but I never had the impression that he was continually upgrading them. Esp as it is a tech he never wanted used again. Why upgrade a technology you want to bury?

Look we know Scott's suit will get some changes just based on the need to sell more toys.

Of course. It may be 'updated' since it's been put back into use (and to sell toys.)

I think it would be great if they went to clear face plates, but I think they also want to keep the insect look.
