Quantumania Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

The Russos did Community before they did Winter Soldier. Directors arent one trick ponies necessarily, I think.

Peyton Reed has a long track record by now. It's fair to say he's established his capabilities and style.

How many directors blossom decades into their career?

He's fine, but there's no evidence of untapped promise.

Peyton Reed strikes me as one of those directors that are easy to work with, get the job done in budget and time and is nice to have around. He might not excel in his capabilities but he isn't a loose canon like let's say Taika Waititi.
Sometimes all you need is someone that get things done in just the right way and that's it. That's how I see him.

If anything, at the very least Jonathan Majors as Kang is something everyone who's reviewed it so far has agreed to be the most enjoyable part of the movie.

I'm confused where the pessimism in this thread is coming from? Every reaction I've seen so far has been generally positive.

Is it really that negative?

I'm of the opinion that early reaction Tweets are useless generally. The professional critics don't bother, as do most of the critics with negative thoughts for fear of being blackballed from future previews. Anything less than universal acclaim probably draws attention.

I can't believe this is a still from a $200M movie.

Is it a shock this movie doesn’t look to be that great? The writer only has some Rick and Morty episodes to his name and Peyton Reed is pretty much just a point and shoot guy. This is not a team you hire when you want something that is dramatic and has stakes

Thing with the MCU has always been they already knew what stories they wanted to tell. Feige and the mains already knew how the 1st three phases were going to go. How much do some of the writers and directors actually do? They may have little scenes and ideas they can implement but overall the main story was already set.

Maybe some of these movies after IWs saga they have more say and Disney maybe getting more involved in what they want. Thor for example they knew where Ragnarok needed to start and finish with important aspects placed in the movie. Waititi had his parts, but in L&T that seemed like it was all him. Two pretty different movies 1 I love the other I rank in the bottom and plan to never watch again.

I stay away from the spoilers and reviews. I really want to see where they go with this and the future movie setups. Always go in with mild expectations since the IW saga ended though I still got disappointed by majority of the phase 4 movies. I know I will enjoy Rudd though, I do have my 2nd showing booked since I have free tickets from subscription. Guess I will be back on Thursday after seeing it.

Release in Turkey has been delayed a week due to the recent earthquakes.

Campea just revealed what the image that was sent to him was and it was nothing. It's Rudd and Majors standing around Iron Man's work shop set from the first Iron Man movie and a friend who has seen the movie, confirmed that it's not in it.

The Russos proved their mettle immediately with Winter Soldier and did even better in their second try with Civil War, a top 5 MCU movie.
Reed did a respectable but hardly spectacular job with the first Ant-Man and then delivered one of the bottom 5 MCU movies with Ant-Man & the Wasp.
I hope he proves everyone wrong this time but I'm not holding my breath.

The absolute bottom for me in terms of MCU directors, isn't Peyton Reed.
It's Alan Taylor For The Dark World.

Peyton Reed is a yes man (heh) and all Feige needs him for is to make decent movies. As much as i liked the first Ant-Man we all have to admit he was working off ideas from far more talented people (Wright, Cornish) and the 2nd one, well...its not great, so i wouldnt be surprised if this isnt a top tier MCU movie.

Too much perception, too much assumption, too little time. My hunch is that best case scenario is borderline fresh but likely rotten.

I love Mama’s Geeky and I’m sure she’s a really great person in real life, but she sometimes tends to fangirl over/overhype things and say things are better than they actually are. For example, she praised the Cowboy Bebop Netflix series, and we all know how that turned out.

So, take her praise with some reservation and keep expectations in check.
