Antlers - GDT Producing, Scott Cooper Directing

Basically they don't need it. With Pixar, Lucasfilm and Marvel under their belt everything else is just whatever.

Right. So just put it on Hulu or something already.
I think part of the problem is it is a hard R so Disney won't release it on Disney+ which is about all Disney cares about right now. And most have completely forgotten about this so Disney doesnt have much incentive to do anything with it let alone spending more money to market it again.

Doesn't Disney own Hulu, though? Or have some sort of investment/interest there?

They have to advertise this movie to some capacity though and since Disney owns Hulu I don't see the problem with them just dropping it on there since that looks like what they are going to be doing anyways. All they have to do is put together a new trailer and poster with the new streaming release date and that's pretty much it.

Hulu has been having a good streak with their movies this year. I'm honestly shocked they haven't pawned this off on them, it seems like a perfect fit. And I NEED this freaking movie to come out, already!

Searchlight Sets Release Dates for ‘Antlers,’ ‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye,’ Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Nightmare Alley’

After a number of delays and missed release dates, Antlers finally gets a perfect, Halloween-adjacent spot on October 29. The film, directed by Scott Cooper and produced by Guillermo del Toro, stars Keri Russell, Jesse Plemons, Jeremy T. Thomas, Graham Greene, Scott Haze, Rory Cochrane, and Amy Madigan. The official synopsis for the incredibly creepy-looking movie follows: “In an isolated Oregon town, a middle-school teacher (Russell) and her sheriff brother (Plemons) become embroiled with her enigmatic student (Thomas) whose dark secrets lead to terrifying encounters with a legendary ancestral creature who came before them.”

I honestly could care less about twitter/critic reactions at this point because I'm just ready to see this bad boy regardless and judge it for myself which is what I usually do anyways.

I will say though that I do like how most are gushing over the creature design which was enough to get me excited since we first saw glimpses of it in the teaser trailer.

The comparions to The Ritual get me even more hyped since that did have a pretty awesome creature in it, but why the hell aren't they promoting this movie more right now?

Hard to believe this is still coming out in theatres on the 29th and I haven't seen a single tv spot for it and I can't find any on YouTube either which makes me think the studio doesn't have much confidence in it either.

Can't wait. I mean, I CAN, cause I've been waiting a heckuva long time for this. But I've had quite enough of that, thank you very much.

Bumping since it comes out on Friday, looking forward to Hypester impressions!

I really enjoyed it, but if your going in expecting a straight up creature feature than your likely going to be disappointed because this is definitely a dark, slow burn family drama at its core.

It actually reminded me a lot of Bryan Bertino's The Monster in terms of tone, but Keri Russel, Jesse Plemons and Jeremey T. Thomas are fantastic in it and its atmospheric as hell.

The creature design is pretty awesome too and you definitely get some solid gory scenes, but I would have liked a bit more carnage if I'm being honest, especially once it got to the big third act reveal.
