The Question said:The Mighty Crusaders:
For those not in the know, The Mighty Crusaders were Archie Comics' brief fore into super heroes. They had, for a short time, a decent amount of popularity, and even a good deal of talant behind them (one of the characters, Th Fly, was created by Jack Kirby). However, as with most non Marvel and DC super hero comics from back then, they're popularity quickly diminished and they faded into obscurity. In the early 90s, DC bought the rights to the characters and reintroduced them in the short lived "!mpact" imprint. While in some ways, the !mpact line could be seen as an "Ultimate" Mighty Crusaders, most revamps were completely new characters with the same name and similar powers, instead of simply retellings/updates of the old characters. So, my idea has two goals: To merge the Archie continuity and the !mpact continuity into one, and to bring out these characters' true potential. Let us begin:
The first step is to combine the two continuities. While seemingly daunting a task, it is really quite simple once you think about it. For The Shield, I make the origional Shield, Joe Higgens, the great uncle of the !mpact Shield, also Joe Higgens. The younger Joe's armor would be the origional armor worn both by the first and second sheild, but modified with all sorts of high tech goodies. With The Fly, I would change the !mpact Fly's grandfather's name, Jason Troy Sr., to Thomas Troy, and have him be the origional Fly, now retired. The same entities that gave Thomas his powers later contacted his grandson. With The Jaguarr, I would have the origional Jaguar, after the Mighty Crusaders disbanded, go to South America and become a sort of spiritual leader and healer. He passed the knowledge of his power to his aprentices, who took it with them. The family of the !mpact Jaguarr learned the origional's physical skills, and these powers were then passed to the current Jaguarr. The origional Jaguarr's spiritual/shaman-like abilities would be learned by Travis Fox, political actavist and grandson of the origional vigilante hero by that name. The Web organization of !mpact is easy enough, simply saying that it was founded by the origional Web, who now serves a Nick Fury-esque status. The origional Black Hood couls easily be said to have been a previous wearer of the cursed hood of !mpact. And The Comet, well, seeing how very generic that name is, I'd just chalk that one up to coincidence.
Anyway, on to the most important bit: The story.
While things have been rather quiet for the past few years, mysterious buisnessman and criminal mastermind Arvell Hauser aims to stir up some trouble. With the help of a very mysterious associate, he has begun the process of locating various superhumans, most notebly former members of the origional Crusaders.
Meanwhile, Nathan Cray, the most recent Black Hood, is paralyzed in a car crash. Bitter and unable to carry on his war on crime, he tosses the hood away. It is soon found by Edward MacLeaod, an unemployed former soldier. He dons it, and like so many others before him is compelled to "do only good." Unfortunately, like others before him, the definition of good is based upon his own moral compass. And so, he begins a very bloody one man war on crime, leaving a trail of corpses in his wake. After slaughtering an entire barroon full of men, he is found by an elderly man who is, non the less, in suberp physical condition. After the man strangles one thug Edward missed with a rope, he introduces himself as Robert Dickering, The Hangman.
In Crowns Pointe, Jason Troy (a.k.a. The Fly) finally reveals his dual identity to his family. While his mother is understandibly shocked, his grandfather is oddly less so. His grandfather then reveals to him, in private, that he too wielded the same power when he was younger, but gave it up to raise a family. When certain descrepencies in their origin stories comes up (Thomas was given a magic ring by a representative of a long lost race of fly people, wheras Jason was given an amulet by a strange middle eastern fellow), Thomas, Jason, and his wife, Maria (The Jaguarr) become very curious about the origin of his powers.
Hauser and his associate, referred to as Siegel, track down the origional Shield, now living under the alias Roger DeLeihs. Higgens acts as if he recognises both of them, but Siegel quickly causes him to pass out with just a glance.
Back in Seaside City, The Hangman explains to the new Black Hood how, for many years, he has fought the corruption of society in the only way that really works: With absolutely no mercy. He now plans to create a team of people who share his philosophies in order to make a better world. They're first task must be to obtain the necessairy power to do so. And the best way to do that is through The Hangman's brother. The origional Comet.
The Fly and The Jaguarr, with Thomas Troy, set out to South America, to find the holy man from whome The Jaguarr's family gained their power. In all of his wisom, it seems likely that he would be able to explain more about where their power comes from. Naturally, this holy man is Ralph Hardy, the origional Jaguarr.
The origional Shield regains consciousness in a dark room. There, Hauser and Siegel stand over him. Because they can't torture him physically, Siegel instead places his hand on Higgens' head and seems to telepathically force the information they need out of him: The where abouts of the origional Jaguarr.
When the Tory family arrives at Hardy's commune, they are greeted quite warmly. When they ask about the nature of the powers, Hardy introduces to them his guest, Turan, the "Fly Wizard" who origionally gave Thomas Troy his powers.
Back in the U.S., Hangman and Black Hood are able to track down The Comet, who lives in seclusion with nothing but his mood regulating drugs to keep him company. After years of psychological probelms, he's shut himself away from society until he can figure himself out. His brother, however, tries to convicne him that there's a world out there that needs to be fought for and plenty of very bad men that have to be punished. Reluctantly, The Comet allows the two to reintroduce him to society.
Back at the commune, Turan explains to the Troys that there never were any fly people. He is a manifestation of a sort of universal collective unconscious, which binds together all life and existence. This collective unconscious wishes for everyone to basically have a good time, and so sometimes it carefully intervenes in our lives to make them the best possible, often apearing as gods or other such cultural archtypes to get us to shut up and listen. So, basically, all mythilogical beings exist as aspects of this great cosmic force. It apeared to Thomas Troy as Turan, to Jason Troy as "Mr. Abin," and to Hardy as the Jaguarr god.
While trying to reignite The Comet's fire, Hangman and Black hood take him to a particularly nasty slum. There, he witnesses all manner of cruelties and horrors. Finally snapping, he vaporizes a small gang of thugs atacking a homeless man with a blast of heat vision. The COmet, The Hangman, and The Black Hood then go on a vigilante rampage, burtally killng all manner of scumbags. This catches the atention of the younger Joe Higgens, the current Shield, who tries to stop them. The situation soon escalates when The Web organization and The American Shielf, Higgens' replacement in the government, show up aswell.
A few days after their arival in the commune, it is atacked by mercenaries payed by Hauser and Siegel. Hauser and Siegel are themselves present, and Hardy quickly identifies them. Siegel is in fact the Brain Emperor, an old enemy of the Crusaders who was thought long dead. After "dying," he became aware of the universe's collective unconscious. After he rebuilt his body, he swore to master it and become a living god. The contacted Hauser, who joined his quest to remake the universe in their image. More shocking, however, was Hauser's true identity. He was, although much older, Lancelot Strong, a former member of The Crusaders. After the team had disbanded, he began doing black ops work for the military. Seeing unspeakable horrors in doing so, he was dissilussioned. He went AWOL and create a false alias of Arvell Hauser. He began thinking that the only person he could trust and the only person who deserved to be cared about was himself, and thus began a criminal empire. Strong and The Brain Emperor then kidnap Hardy and force him to use his shamanic abilities to open up a connection to the collective unconsious of the universe.
It's Hokey but I think for these characters it fit, I'm just thinking the over use of the 'Legacy' thing is played out.
That is, of course, all I've got so far. What do you think?

Zoken said:Continuing Adventures of What If Squirrel-Girl were an Avenger?
It is an obvious thing that we seek out those who are like us. Though we may have friends who are dissimilar from ourselves, we always attempt to seek out the company of those like ourselves. Christans preach to the choir, Mutants form the X-Men and Brotherhoods, and squirrels hang out with other squirrels. this brings us to the day in question where Monkey-Joe (Full name Joseph Who Swings Like A Monkey And Gathers Many Nuts) was trying to help his fellow squirrel.
I like the bit with the name^
It is a little known power of Doreen "Squirrel-Girl" Green that makes Monkey-Joe as he is. Any Squirrel who spends time around her will have it's intelligence increased slowly. now for those squirrels who normally come to her aide, this is not a dramatic thing, HOWEVER Monkey-Joe has spent almost everyday since the two of them met with Doreen. He is now, not just smart for a squirrel, but smarter than most humans. Which was why the poor squirrel was trying to explain to his brethren the pulley system he built them for moving large amounts of nuts up their trees in one trip rather than many, decreasing the amount of time they needed to gather nuts.
The other squirrels simply snatched the nuts from the basket and scampered up the trees. Monkey-Joe chittered in depression. he was not human, and could not find a friend among them, aside from Doreen's friends. and he was no longer the squirrel he was, for his intelligence elevated him beyond their understanding. He was quite alone.
that was when he sensed someone sneaking up behind him. he whipped his head around and scampered out of the way just in time to avoid someone trying to grab him. the man was dressed in a green body suit.
"GET HIM!" yelled another man in green.
"Oh, this is just ridiculous," growled a third green man.
"Are we sure it's him?" asked a fifth.
"Yes, now grab him!" barked the second again.
for five minutes seven men in green attempted to capture Monkey-Joe. he led them on a merry chase, easily avoiding them clumsy humans. he was feeling pretty confident until a cage slammed down around him. he looked up to see a larger eighth human in green. "You are most certainly the one we seek," the large human stated. "You will make Hydra very proud." a gas was released and the little squirrel fell out of consiousness.
Monkey-Joe slowly came to hearing a pathetic whining. It was a dog, a very unhealthy dog if Monkey-Joe heard right. he smelled, however, no breed of dog he'd ever smelled before. he also smelled... smoke. he got to his paws, taking in his surroundings. he was in a clear plastic container. to the left of his container was a larger one housing a purple winged lizard that did not look pleased at all. to his right was a large cage housing a gigantic (even for a human) bulldog. this was the dog he heard whining. the dog lay on his side, panting shallowly. then, directly in front of him was a large... humanoid... sort of. it had the correct body shape, and even wore large human clothes, but instead of a head it had a large block. it's skin was gray. it was holding a chalkboard... OH!
Monkey-Joe focused on the chalk board and read; "Hi, I'm Andy. We've been captured by Hydra. What's your name?"
Monkey-Joe responded, but after he chittered out his answered, he hit his head with his paw, remembering that only Doreen could understand squirrels.
he looked up to see a new message on the board. "Nice to meet you Monkey-Joe."
shock swept through the little squirrel. he chittered out many questions.
the android wrote down his answer and showed him, "I can copy powers. I absorbed your Squirrel-to-English understanding. Do you know our friends?"
Monkey-Joe looked at the other two. he shook his head.
"That is Lockjaw," Andy wrote, then pointed to go with his message. "He's a teleporting inhuman dog." Andy erased and then showed, with another point, "That's Lockeheed. he lives with the X-men. He's an alien Dragon."
Monkey-Joe chittered out a reply.
"Because," Andy responded. "They drugged Lockjaw. even if he wakes up enough, he still won't be able to teleport for a few days... I heard them talking about it. they don't seem to think I'm too smart."
Monkey Joe rubbed his chin with his paw. then chittered to Andy, and together they came up with a plan.
in a couple hours, Lockjaw was beginning to come around, and right on cue, a Hydra agent came in with his next tranquilizer shot. he heard banging from Andy's cell. Andy showed him a message that was short, simple, and sure to enrage the man in green: "Hydra Sux"
"You shut up you cement-moron!" griped the grunt. "What do you know?"
the grunt didn't notice Monkey-Joe chittering to Andy, telling him what to write. so he was shocked when Andy showed him the next message; "I know I did your wife and momma last night."
"You...you... you want another shock?" grunted the grunt.
"From a little beyotch like you? You don't have the stones," replied Andy, finding all of this quite funny. he wished he were as witty as Monkey-Joe. Andy, however, was a lover, not a fighter.
"that's it!" said the Hydra grunt. he hit the button beside Andy's cell that sent an electric current through the cell, and Andy. Andy dropped his chalboard and fell to his knees. the grunt hit the button three more times.
"You had enough ******?" the Grunt barked.
Andy weakly reached for his chalkboard. he scribbled out, "Are you trying to tickle me, queer?"
I honestly don't think Monkey Joe would be that crass.^
the grunt hit the button again... but suddenly his attention was taken by the sound of rending metal.
the grunt released the button and whipped around. There, looking very annoyed, was Lockjaw with the bars to his cage in his mouth. Lockjaw spit out the bars and bared his teeth at the frightened grunt. the fight didn't last long. the grunt was down quickly. Lockjaw applied his teeth to both Monkey-Joe's and Lockeheed's boxes releasing them. Lockeheed made to melt the door, but Monkey-Joe waved him off. Monkey-Joe got into the key hole and after a few clicks, he came out covered in grease but the door swung open and Andy was free.
"Now what?" wrote out Andy.
Monkey-Joe chittered as he sniffed the area out with Lockjaw. the rough translation was "Revenge."
two hours later, a large group met at the entrance to the secret Hydra headquarters. Black Bolt, Medusea, Karnak, and Ben Grimm were searching for Lockjaw. Doreen, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Captain America were searching for Monkey-Joe. Kitty, Colossus, Cyclops, and Beast were searching for Lockeheed. and She-Hulk and the Two-Gun Kid were searching for Andy.
"Jerk," muttered Kitty under her breath as she glared at Wolverine.
"A fer chris' sake," Growled Wolverine. he turned to Peter Parker. "Never take a little girl as yer partner bub," he shook his head. "they think they own ya' ferever."
Cyclops blew a hole in the side of the building. and there were four very suprised looking beings surrounded by Hydra agnets.
Andy held up a sign saying, "Oh, thank god. We were lost."
Monkey-Joe leapt at Doreen, hugging her and scampering around his best friend. Lockjaw leapt at Ben, pinning the large rocky man to the ground and lapping at his face. Lockeheed quickly landed on Kitty's shoulder and began nuzzling her. Andy stood there sheepishly as Shulkie and the Two-Gun kid embraced him, telling him how worried they'd been.
as the groups mingled for a bit, Monkey-Joe leapt onto Lockjaw's head, using his paws to give him a good ear-scratching.
through strange coincidene, Monkey-Joe and Lockeheed could understand each other. they exchanged information and somehow, in a way only known to Andy, they formed a rivalry. not hatred, but a good rivalry. both immediatly became more affectionate than necessary with their human.
Lockjaw shook his head. both were silly in the large dog opinion. he walked by Black Bolt, hoping the Inhuman king wasn't displeased with him. a smile from the silent king warmed the enormous canine's heart. Medusea gave him a pet with her hair, and Lockjaw returned to Ben Grimm's side.
Andy became oddly distant as everyone started to go their own ways. Monkey-Joe asked him the problem.
Andy showed him, privately, a messge that said how lonely he was. and how much he wished there were others like him.
Monkey-Joe comiserated, explaining how strange he himself was.
the two gave each other pats and went off, knowing they'd made friends that day.
Zoken said:Deemare: I understand what you mean bout Monkey-Joe not being that crass, but he is intentionally trying to tick off the Hydra guy and that is the only reason he's having Andy be so vulgar. The entire plan was for the Hydra guy to be so distracted that he forgets to give Lockjaw the tranquilizer that keeps him from using his super-strength (They figured that since the tranq nocked him out and stopped him from teleporting there wasn't much else they needed to do)
The_Mystery said:CIVIL WAR:
Here are my changes to the current issues for Civil War that would fill plot holes and keep characters in the right personalities-
#1 -I would keep in Speedball's comments, but would definitely have Night Thrasher leading the charge. I would also lose some of the recklessness that they showed. The New Warriors are almost veterans in the hero game. Nitro would still go off big time and blow up the kids.
-Instead of Spider-man dropping by the Avengers Tower to quip against the registration, he would be there supporting Tony, but Luke Cage would call Spidey on the inconsistanes(sp) of the Act.
-Maria Hill wouldn't try to arrest Cap for "violating" the act because it wouldn't have been a law by then. She would try and take the costume, title and sheild from him and when he refuses, then, being the jerk that she is, would try and take it by force leading to the confrontation in the issue.
#2-There would be a section in the issue involving a conversation between Spidey and Tony in which Tony would be trying to convince Spidey to unmask to the public
#3- Instead of Cap throwing the first punch to start the fight, I would have a trigger happy sheild agent who lost a kid in the big Nitro explosion fire of the first shots and wound both Cloak and Wiccan. Then Cap would take down Tony, who doesn't want to fight and wants to talk things through.
#4- Clor wouldn't be a clone, but he would be a robot who Tony uses for a psychological edge. The robot would go rogue when Luke Cage super punches it to the head. The rogue robot would then blast Goliath and kill him, making his death a true mistake.
#5- Instead of Tony giving the order for the Thunderbolts, it would be Maria Hill by orders from the president.
These changes would keep Iron Man a hero and present a better side for the Pro-Regs. It would make both arguements even. It would also fill up the character inconsistences. When I think about more changes I'll post. I'm also welcome to hear some from you folks.

It's been a while since I posted in here, so I thought I'd give you all something I've been thinking up lately. I'd basically go back to Avengers #500 (and you know, keep the title running past that point). It'd be a big issue with the wedding of Justice and Firestar. Of course, there are a whole load of guests in attendance, and this wedding serves as the start of a new 12-issue arc, if not longer, that serves as a tribute to the long history of the Avengers. It'd see them face a wide variety of their villains, have the team shaken up, and in the end let the heroes come together to have their big Rocky moment.
Avengers - "The Search for Thor"
![]()
During the wedding, a group of seperate Avengers slowly come together, each of them particularly noticing the absence of Thor at the ceremony. He has not been in communication with the Avengers for months now as well. Together, the individuals represent what can largely be considered the mainstay Avengers. They are a combination of the founders and Cap's Kooky Quartet, and together with Wonder Man, are some of the people that have known Thor the longest. As the wedding concludes, this group decides that they need to travel to Asgard and see what's up. They find that travelling to Asgard is not much of an easy task anymore, and with the Dr. Strange away with the Defenders, the Scarlet Witch and Brother Voodoo (on the advice of the Black Panther) must combine their powers to send the Avengers to Asgard. Brother Voodoo and the Witch are each others' connection, as the Witch travels with the Avengers and Voodoo stays behind.
As soon as they arrive in Asgard however, tragedy strikes. Magic in Asgard has gone wild and random, and the newcomers are struck with blasts of magic. Captain America is blinded in the accident, but some of the others are just as worse of. Yellowjacket is stuck at his minimum height, while Wasp can neither grow nor shrink. The Scarlet Witch has gone catatonic and Quicksilver can no longer slow down, while Iron Man's armor is shot to all hell. The only ones that are unaffected are Wonder Man and Hawkeye. Now stuck in Asgard, they must travel to Thor's place of rest (the Avengers arrive shortly after the events of Ragnarok) before they succumb to the environments' harsh conditions.
Avengers - "The Fall of Wakanda"
![]()
It had to happen. Eric Killmonger stayed still during the scare of the disease that spread out over America in honor of the Panther, who working alongside the Avengers, had to fully concentrate on the matter. Claiming kingship would have only cause confusion and disarray. However, the disease has been stopped, and now, with the Black Panther in America, it is time for Killmonger to seize power. Arranging to be crowned king by the tribal council, he also holds the position of chieftain of the Panther cult. Now, T'Challa is forced to stop using the Black Panther name, stop wearing the garb, and live in exile.
It's too much for T'Challa. Retaking the name of Coal Tiger, he decides that he has no choice but to retake control of Wakanda by forceful measures. With some of the key Avengers having gone off to search for Thor, and Panther unwilling to ask the others to help him, he decides to assemble his own team. Consisting of close friends and allies, he and his new Avengers start their covert operations in Wakanda, in an effort to surprise Killmonger. While this new Coal Tiger seeks to reclaim his mantle by honorable combat, the Widow and Knight fear that assassination of Killmonger is the only way. After all, if there is one opponent of T'Challa that has always been able to beat him, it has been Killmonger.
Avengers - "Cosmic Oddysey"
![]()
Of course, the fun just never stops at this little wedding, as the alien Skrull Fiz crashes the party. Originally an ally of the X-Men, and later a member of the Skrull group Cadre K, who hang with Xavier for a while, he's now joined up with Captain Marvel (Genis-Vell), who was once more infiltrated the Kree. It turns out that the Kree are going for one last gambit, as they travel across the galaxy in full force to annihilate their opposition. They are basically planning the genocide of the Skrull, Shi'ar and Earth people. Thing is, Earth is going to be their first stop on this universal rampage.
In order to combat this, a small group of cosmic Avengers have to be gathered in order to ensure the survival of amongst others, the Earth. Quasar, being the Protector of the Universe and all takes command and gathers a small group, knowing that taking a larger group into space can only serve to endanger them, as they need a defense force on Earth. Obviously accompanying him is Nova, and they are later aided by Gladiator of the Imperial Guard, who has been sent by the Shi'ar to assist these Avengers.
Avengers - "Home Team"
![]()
Now, finally, we've come to the team that stays at home. Most of the mainstay Avengers have been divided over the aforementioned teams, leaving the Vision behind to assemble a team that will just plain have to do. Pulling both from the reserve list, the Vision is capable of gathering a team, that in the coming months, face Ultron, the Absorbing Man and others, and are still capable of coming out victorious.
Firestar and Justice cut their honeymoon short in order to help out the Avengers, while Hercules joins the team to honor the new couple, especially after he made one drunken mess of himself at their party. War Machine returns back into the game in order to help out, and Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk are of course, good old mainstays. The She-Hulk also gets the chance to redeem herself.
Baron Zemo's Avengers
![]()
Say what now? Baron Zemo's Avengers? Yes. Zemo has returned after taking a long journey of reflection in which he has started to master the moonstones he carries. With his goal of ruling the world, so as to make it a better one, he finds that the best way is through the established hero route. Zemo finds the Avengers lacking, and that means setting up a rival Avengers faction, and trying to outdo them in good deeds. Its a scheme Zemo knows well, as he tries to use the public trust to give him more power.
Joining him are a cadre of his old friends, villains seeking to try the hero game and newer heroes, inexperienced with the Zemo of old, who seek to find recognition. The answer that both Zemo and the public most ask themselves though: Are these villains seeking redemption or power? And the Avengers must ask themselves: Are these friends or foes? Finally, Zemo must look towards the strange new anti-hero calling himself Supreme. Is he too dangerous or just the right amount of it?
When I get around to it, I'll post about how it all culminates and what would be left of the Avengers afterwards.

How I Would Do It - Cont.
So we've got a team of Avengers in Asgard looking for Thor, a team in Wakanda that will try and overthrow Killmonger's government, a team in space trying to stop the Kree, and two teams at home that try to deal with what comes on their way. Over the course of this epic and universe spanning adventure, these stories advance as each team comes close to reaching their goals. I'll put them in a little play-by-play structure.
"The Search for Thor"
- Now, these Avengers have been wrecked, literally.
- Pretty much everyone is injured except for Hawkeye and Wonder Man.
- Hawkeye gets his time to shine again as he and Cap form the perfect leading team. Without his eye sight, Cap is left with his pure raw tactician's mind as he's forced to envision what the battlefield is like. Heck, in some manner, being blind enhances his planning skills. Hawkeye is the improv master, and he makes the team gell really well together in battle.
- Wonder Man and Iron Man finally get to bond as they are pretty much the team's only heavy hitters at this point. Where it would've led to rivalry earlier, both men have grown beyond that.
- Quicksilver, sped up beyond his ability to control starts to appreciate the moments of being still, and will be looking up Crystal when all is said and done.
- Yellowjacket and Wasp, although practically useless in battle at this point provide the core for the team, they are the two people actually keeping the team together mentally.
- After that long, hard, grueling journey the Avengers reach the chamber in which Thor rests and wake him up.
- Still in full command of his abilities, he greets them and first aids the Avengers by healing their injuries and restoring the Scarlet Witch to consciousness.
- Afterwards, he pushes all of his power into reviving Asgard, and his father Odin.
- He is left with a smidge of the power he held. He's back to his original power levels.
- Odin returns the Avengers to Earth, just as things have finished in Wakanda.
"The Fall of Wakanda"
- Losing another battle with Killmonger, T'Challa is left near dead.
- Over the course of their travel, Moon Knight becomes increasingly instable as his multiple identities strengthen themselves on the hard journey through the Wakandan jungle.
- Iron Fist, Luke Cage and the Falcon come through relatively unscatched, but look in horror as the Black Widow kills Killmonger after his battle with T'Challa.
- She herself is nearly killed by Wakandan warriors, when Wakandan scientists discover the implantation of a mind control chip. The source? Hunter, the White Wolf, adopted son of T'Chaka, and completely loyal to the rightful heir to the throne.
- Hunter's plan does not stop there, as he broadcasts a live video of Killmonger's assassination all over the world, ensuring that the Black Widow will become one of the world's most wanted criminals.
- The idea behind Hunter's plan is simple: With the death of Killmonger, the Panther can do nothing but return to his position as King of Wakanda and Chieftain of the Panther Cult. T'Challa does so, but when fully recovered, decides that the only way he can prevent such things from happening ever again is by isolating Wakanda once more.
- Moon Knight flees from Wakanda and treks into the jungles of Africa.
- Iron Fist, Luke Cage and the Falcon are allowed to leave. The Black Widow goes on to kill Hunter and is then given asylum in Wakanda.
"Home Team"/"Zemo's Avengers"
- The home team spends most of their time fighting Avengers villains and doing a splendid job at it. However, they have constantly been met with opposition in the form of Zemo's campaign against the current Avengers team.
- The rivalry between the two teams is largely between the Vision and Zemo, as the two teams get along surprisingly well at times.
-- Hercules and Sandman go out for drinks from time to time.
-- Hercules and Titania have a one-night-stand.
-- Justice kind of takes Gravity under his tutelage.
-- Firestar and Songbird even go shopping at one point.
- Friendly relationships also develop among the teams themselves.
-- Supreme's powers are similar to Gravity's, but much more powerful and experienced, and as such, Supreme teaches Gravity a few tricks.
-- Juggernaut and Sandman get along great.
-- Ms. Marvel and War Machine build a great friendship, both a little based on their experiences with Iron Man.
-- Firestar finds companionship in She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel, while hoping that she and Justice will be able to leave the Avengers soon.
- The big moment comes of course when the home team is incapable of defeating a villain and require the aid of Zemo's team.
- Supreme shows his true colors after the battle and goes to beating the home team. All under the command of Zemo.
- Songbird, Gravity and the Juggernaut stand with the home team against Supreme, betraying Zemo.
- Supreme stands revealed as having been the victim of Zemo's villainy when he was younger. His powers are ionic, and the teams learn that Zemo had tested the ionic machine that gave Wonder Man his powers on a young ruffian he picked up from the street.
- Zemo is horrified to learn of this and uses the moonstones to defeat Supreme.
- Zemo, Sandman and Titania are taken into custody.
"Cosmic Oddysey"
- Genis-Vell is discovered and captured by the Kree.
- Phyla-Vell, his sister, attempts a rescue mission but is nearly killed.
- Genis breaks out of his jail and bonds with Phyla via the Nega-Bands to save her life.
- Moondragon follows Phyla and the three all get involved in one big fight with the Kree.
- Nova and Fiz would develop a bond similar to the Nova-Speedball friendship, and the two save each others lives on multiple occasions. Their mission is primarily to rally other races to help against the Kree and save the remaining Skrulls from extinction.
- Quasar and Gladiator have trouble working together at first but become an effective team. They are the primary guardians against the Kree. They lead this ragtag team in the end, as the members spend most of the arc seperate.
- Moondragon is seemingly killed in the massive Kree onslaught, and in retaliation, Phyla destroys a large part of the Kree army.
- Nova and Fiz show up with a cadre of Skrulls and other races as they fight off the Kree. They are signalled by Quasar to lead the Kree into an ambush near Earth.
- Gladiator travels to Earth to find the Avengers.
Climax
- All of the remaining Avengers have gathered at the Avengers Mansion.
- The Avengers that have just returned from Asgard are quite simply, exhausted. Although their injuries were healed, they also had to go through weeks of cold and hunger.
- The home team is wrecked emotionally, but has gained allies in Juggernaut, Songbird and Gravity.
- Iron Fist and Luke Cage decide to reopen Heroes For Hire, as they and the Falcon go their seperate ways again.
- Gladiator arrives at the mansion with news of the impending invasion.
- The Avengers assemble and travel into space to combat the Kree army that has literally gathered around Earth.
- Over the course of the battle some interesting meetings take place.
-- Genis-Vell and Songbird meet again, and after he saves her life they share a kiss. Genis reluctantly tells her that there can be nothing between them as long as he is bonded to his sister.
-- Justice and Firestar meet with Nova. Although they've been through hell, they really feel like part of the big guys.
- The Kree are able to break through and crash land into Wakanda, identifying it as the most technologically advanced nation, and thus the best place to regain their strength and use the Earth heroes' tech against them.
- With the help of the Black Panther and Black Widow, the Avengers fight the Kree and ultimately are able to beat the last of them in the Great Vibranium Mound.
- Only a few Kree have survived, with most of the army and its soldiers having been destroyed in space.
- The end of the first 24 issues is with the Avengers in Wakanda, just victorious over the Kree.
I'll do an epilogue next, which will mean a reshaping of the team into a single unit as most of the characters leave to do their own thing, but after this adventure, they're never the same again.![]()
