Aqua - Discussion Thread(Spoilers)

This episode stunned me to DEATH! I loved it way too much (of course i was geeked the whole time when i realized arthur was wearing orange & green) He did smile and say "bro" one too many times, but i loved this ep. I loved him calling vlark superboy and the "boyscout". I have to admit something, when i heard the jla line, i was screaming "oh yeah"!!!!! tool . . . . . hee hee

this season is off the hook! (not thrilled about the next ep, but hey, they can't all be gems right?) amazing :D

The only reason I caught that was because I do like to do a little research for my reviews, and remembered that was in the list of the ones they did.... ;)

Reading up on James Marsters actually was very interesting... I gotta love a guy who co-founds a theatre group named after the group run by Orson Welles.

He's getting a glowing review for this episode from me, btw. Marsters did a brilliant job with not a whole lot of screen time.

Alan Ritchson, not so much.

It was his first real acting job, everyone has to start somewhere and he fit the bill in every other aspect, so I would give him a thumbs up for that.

True, and his inexperience goes a long way to explaining his uneven performance.

He did do better in the scenes with MR and TW, He seemed more focused in those (probably got some help from the other guys, he talked about Tom giving him tips in that interview on K-site) but he was very uneven in the ones with ED.

At times their scenes were sweet and romantic, at other times awkward and stiff.

While he definitely had moments of new-actor-syndrome, I'll cut him a break. It's not like his first big gig was as the star of a $250M tentpole film. :p

I loved this episode!!

Definitely some of the best work yet by the cast, IMO.

The guy who played Aquaman was really good. I really like the allusions he made to his heritage, and that line about swimming with the seals was great!

Arthur Curry's slight surfer talk didn't bother me a bit. It made sense because of his age, and besides, what made Aquaman the character he is was captured in this episode.

I was liking Milton Fine (Braniac) a lot. The dialogue between he and Clark, and Clark and Lex for that matter was awesome. It's really cool to see how things are unfolding. I love it when they make references to various comic lore, and the history of the character in the dialogue. I look forward to these things in every episode, and for those of us that like it, we really received it in this episode.

Aqua was definitely one of the better episodes. It's liked they have really upped their game this season. It shows, and I appreciate their efforts.

I had to read that twice before I got it. :D

A few other small things I liked that I caught:

Arthur mentions being raised by a lighthouse keeper. That is true to Aquaman canon.

Clark covering the bomb with his body was just cool! Almost made me think of when Superman put the bomb in his mouth in the pilot of Lois and Clark.

Lex has a sample of A.C.'s blood now, I wonder if that is going to be touched on later in the series.  I hope so!:)

Did anyone happen to read "Justice" #2?

It's the bi-monthly series written and painted by Alex Ross.
Anyway, I thought it was interesting that this issue came out the same week "Aqua" aired. One reason is that the issue features the debut appearance of Braniac. Secondly, the reveal on the last page of the ish looks just like this scene from the show (just substitute Lex with Brainiac):

Did anyone else catch Lex's nod to AC about how he must be a freak if he's hanging about with Clark? I thought that was intriguing given the debate about whether or not Lex will know Clark is \S/ later in life.

the next episode: Aqua

Lot's happing in this episode.

(1) Aquaman Guest stars

(2) Lois retruns

(3) Lex is becoming more evil.

(4) More Professor Fine

(5) Clark learns more about Lex's secrets

(6) Super Battle between Clark & Arthur

and so much more.

Discuss.
I'm not a big fan of Aquaman-nor of DC in general, for that matter-but I enjoyed this episode. It was fun. That's all that matters.

Yeah, I did. And that he saw two somethingerothers swimming off after the weapon exploded.

Another thing I noticed.. which could very well just have been coincidence.. was when Lois said to A.C., "You're not a military brat, are you?" And he replied, "No, just a brat."

In fact, Alan Ritchson is a military brat.

Guess I picked up on that because I am too.

One thing is for sure, this guy was ripped more than Tom Welling ever was :o Seriously Tom got a bit flabby this season. Wonder why?

wise words

As for Erica Durance, after Teri Hatcher playing Lois... Eh, Erica seems so average to me. Wish she wasn't even on the show.

I'm sure they used Aquaman because he is one of the only ones that doesn't have a hard set movie slated yet. That is ok though, I did enjoy this episode very much.

LOL!! Just having some fun. :D

Did anybody else catch Fine's line to Clark about having issues with people who change their minds more often than they do their clothes? I *totally* laughed out loud there. In fact, I applauded. Brilliant.

HEY!! How do you get to have one of those neat moving pictures to the left side of your post under your name???

You have to have at least 300 posts before you can select a custom avatar....

I really enjoyed the episode as well! When i saw the college professor, i was like: "Oh SNAP, it's Brainiac!" The highlights of the episode was of course the underwater fight between Clark and A.C., and Clark's diposal of the bomb that A.C. planted at the Luthor Corp lab! Does anybody disagree that Lex is uncapable of killing anyone this season, or having anyone killed for that matter? He's truly embracing Lionel's teaching from the first two seasons, and he's running with it!

Oh yeah, the actor playing Aquaman was definitely in better shape than Tom! Com'on Tommy, you can't let the guest-stars' steal your thunder!! You're Superman for cryin' out loud! (LOL!)

Okay, this will be negative, and I just have to get it out of my system, because this episode pissed me off.
James Masters was awsome, and the rest of the cast was okay (Barely any Lana, yay!) but this aquafreak ruined this for me. Look at his face. Like he's escaped from the mezezoic or something. I expected him to start saying
"Chumba hungry! Chumba likes food!" or something of that nature.
Look at his forehead people. Didn't he play one of the villagers in Ice Age? And it only got worse when he tried to act. It was cute when Arnie gave the same performance earlier in his carreer, but he had a freaking sweet accent, and therefore kicked lots of ass. This guy had nothing, no charm, no talent, just the ability to bug me to hell.
Then again, from now on, Kristen is not giving the worst performance in the histroy of the show. Yay!
They should give some lines to the janitor sometimes, he could out act "AC" anytime and clean your toilet while he's at it.
Also, this is Clarks first day at collage and we get... this? Four minutes about his new station in life? The new status quo?
Well done writers, you didn't find a place this season to explore the new day at school theme, but hey, you have new meteor freaks (and vampires!) to show, so I understand you couldn't spear an episode to show Clark's character facing his new environment. Don't worry, maybe his first day at the planet a few years down the line. But I can see they passing on that in favor of some giant, kryptonite powered purple gorillas. Maybe they should give the janitor some writing duties as well.
But then again Brainiac was freaking sweet, and even TW had some chemistry with him. Also, I'm in freaking love with Chloe, so I'm there for the rest of the season. And I know I should not encourage piss poor writing and horrible acting by watching it, but there are a few, very few talented and hard working people on the show who's work I kinda dig. If they didn't have to work with these hacks, how cool this show could be. So I'll toon in next week for... vampires. Kryptonite Vampires. In kansas. In a teen superman show. I'm a freaking moron.

Jc Dc quite whining, Erica is great and you know it. We all love teri and she is too damn old to be on the show so move one with life. :o
