It's the same guy. He just grew a beard.

The guy in the second pic, is still Aquaman. It's just from superman, before he became rugged.

The bearded pirate look was DC's attempt to make Aquaman less cheesy. It didn't work.

The bearded one from JLU always too much of a Dick, I don't remember A.C. being that much of an ass in the comics.

He can be. He's very much the veteran of the League in th comics, and his opinions carry alot of weight there. So, when someone disrespects him, he can get pissed. Classic example:

Oh my, that's quite nice. I never knew Artie for being that kinda guy, but honestly that was kind of refreshing, even though he was still wearing a scaley orange shirt.

Hey, the scaly orange shirt looks good with the right artists.

I like the orange shirt, but I kinda miss the more mellow Aquaman of yore.

I always liked the temperamental Aquaman; I loved how he was in Kingdom come.

No it doesnt. Aquaman really needs a better look. Thats the thing with alot of great DC characters, they look terrible. Like Wonder Woman. Or Jonn.

Yes, it does. And how does Wonder Woman look terrible? I agree to a certain degree with J'onn, but Wonder Woman?

I kind of liked the bearded look that JL/U used for Aquaman. The man is an undersea king whose flesh is nigh-invulnerable anyway, little need for an orange jumpsuit. I was never too keen on the "harpoon hand" though. I always saw that as a way to give him a "claw", which was IN during the 90's.

I will say, though, that I don't have anything particular against the classic Aquaman costume, though. The problem with a lot of DC heroes is that they have had certain costumes for well over 50 years and so seeing them in anything else seems "wrong". I mean, Superman's costume is by no mans a great design. It is a standard superhero costume, which makes sense because he was basically the first popular one. For 1938 it was darn spiffy, for 2006 it looks dated. The problem is that suit is as much of an icon as the man inside it, and so changing it will offend people. Especially when the designs that are usually brought up to replace these "iconic" looks are overwhelmingly NOT as keeping or timeless and usually are designs that symbolize that particular time period. Like WW's failed "70's spy" look, or Batman's "90's clawed-tech armor" look of Jean-Paul Valley, or even "Electric Superman".

And this also applies to characters from the Silver Age, including most of Marvel's mainstays. The Iron-Spider design for CIVIL WAR seems to be destined to become as much of a footnote on a rich character's history as Electric Superman was.

With all that said...Dr. Polaris got a MUCH better design in the 90's, even if purple on a magentic guy will forever scream "Magneto". Without that, though, he looks like he was built by Dr. Wily.

Shes a warrior wearing a star-spangled bathing suit, tiara and high heel boots. A bit of an oxymoron, dont you think?

She wears the tiara because she's royalty. It's not a bathing suit, it is armor plated, and I really don;t see how the stars make it an oxymoron. The high heels, well, it's not really warrior like. But I don't see how that makes her costume terrible.

The fact is Aquaman is king and his rugged bearded look gives him a royal bearing, with the orange shirt he doesn't look like a king, he looks like a dork, I doubt anyone would follow or respect him with that outfit.

She looks like a really patriotic stripper. I mean really star spangled panties in public, that just screams stripper.

Not really. If she were straddling a pole while taking off said star spangled panties, that would scream stripper.

Come on Question. It may be iconic, but you know its just a terrible, terrible costume. Armor? Please. We all know the sole reason she looks like a stripper is because the artists (and a large dose of the fanbase) like seeing TnA. I cant tell you how many times that "armor" has been drawn like a thong.

Since when do super heroes have good costumes? They wear their underwear on the outside of their pants for God's sake! DC super heroes are the worst, Marvel is a little better with the Fantastic Four & Spider-Man suits. Lets not forget Wolverine's costume, lol, now that was cool!

I loved when Aquaman was on S:TAS the ending was classic when he was walking back to his ship and the guy shot a spear at him and he turned around and caught it.
