Are slashers back?

Maybe is my own love for the genre, but am I seeing a rebirth of slashers lately as opposed to supernatural horror (that was the big trend around Conjuring/It Follows)?

The original Scream is often credited with having revitalised the slasher genre. Who knows, maybe the requels have done the same!

Definitely gives me hope about the future of slashers.

I credit Halloween 2018 for the current resurgence. If that one wasn't a hit I don't think they'd have been as quick to bring back Scream.

Slowly but surely it certainly does seem like slashers are making a comeback, which I am more than ready for & happy about.
