Are there any banned Members that you kind of miss? - Part 2

Bum was the worst banned member, by far.

As far as the Batboards go: I think they're better now than before, but that's not saying much. Sure, there's some loonies(whether you count me in that category or not), but it's not as bad when the Nolan movies were still being made. For me, the JL board is the new "Batboards" as far as "insane/crazy" goes. Christ, does that board go completely insane every 1-2 posts. And it's basically because of all the crazy Nolan fans from the Batboards that have taken over the JL area.

I tend to see more of the bickering/arguing...I don't really post there, I'm more of a lurker in the Batboards......but I love it when posters in the Bat and Star Wars Boards (I spend more time in SW section) resort to this with there delusions of the films:

It doesn't happen too often (it seems most posters, me included enjoy the SW OT/PT) but when it does...its :lmao: , for me anyways.

Ya.....there is not that kind of delusion in the SW boards. As some one who posts there I wonder if you are just trying to take jabs at those that did not like the PT. I did not like it but I never (and most of us never did) resort to petty name calling or "personally" attacking another user. Most of the PT dislikers such as my self spend a lot of time giving out very well thought out opinions, evidence, and reasoning behind what we think. I have yet to see this type of behavior. For giving such posts I've seen some PT enthusiasts attack other users personally by calling them "haters" ect. So I don't' know what SW board you've been on. And as for the likers/dislikers of the PT I'd say in those boards it's pretty much split down the middle. As for myself and many that argue about the PT I'd say it's been done with great civility much so more then most of the other boards. We usually attack the product....not the users. And I've not seen that kind of "delusions" on there yet. I'd say those boards are very tame and filled with very polarized opinions but people do well in there despite that.

Same with the Batboards, there are idiots on there for sure, and some that are blind beyond belief, but I remember the Spidey boards being pretty bad as well from after SM1 was released to SM3's release. But sometimes there are great posters in there that great convo's would unleash. But I admit those two areas looking back had some nasty times for sure. And I know it kept the mods busy. I'm sure most of these banned users came from one of these subforms. And I'm sure it will continue on into the future

I often find the Avengers (and other related boards eg Cap 2, Guardians etc) consistently argumentative.

First it was Alexei, who did appear on the X-Men boards too but seemed to be mostly on the Avengers. Now it's Mr Dent. He seems to be continually in the midst of an argument with someone or other, and seemingly not liked by many, which I can completely understand. He's about as annoying, self righteous and full of himself as Alexei.

There's always someone.

And I did see Goody Dent communing with the Devil!

As someone on the opposite side of the coin I find a lot of the anti PT posters to be condescending and their posts to be filled with entitlement. I try not to get involved as I think it's a discussion that simply can't be done with any level of fun and I basically have said all I have to say on the subject 8 years ago.

The Batboards are unfortunate in that there are plenty of very good posters there and I can remember plenty of good times in that section, like waiting for the first BB trailer all the way to filming in Pittsburgh thread. However the fanatical ones are so over the top that they give the whole section a bad name as they don't stick to that section, they spread their obnoxiousness to other parts of the Hype.

I've noticed that too. I try not to bother with him any more.

I remember the Avengers boards to be quite calm . Actually, all the Marvel boards are reasonable. The exception being the Spider-Man Boards.

The Bat boards really didn't endear themselves to the rest of the Hype when they invaded Community during the deathmatches.

What are 'deathmatches', and why do complete strangers ask me to help with them?

I'm sure there are condescending people that do that. But I've seen them on both sides. (TFN boards are filled with many condescending types on both sides) I find (and I guess this is perspective) a lot of PT defenders more attack the actual poster by saying "You're a hater ect." At least I've been called that. I do nothing but try and point out the flaws in the product not the fan. I've been called "not a true fan/hater" ect. I see more actual arguments and points made by the people that don't care for the PT more so then the other way around. Now that does not take away from anyone's opinion of course.

From your perspective maybe they seem entitled (and some of them very well may be) But from my perspective I see that on both sides, whereas again "You're not a true fan because you dislike the PT" Or they will not actually reply to your thought out post/points and just go "Your opinion" *which sometimes comes off as smug/smirky to me. Which is fine, but sometimes when you are in a discussion, that just really kills it sometimes when you are trying to make civil points and the other end just cuts it off like that.

Now you know me as someone who is not a "negative" poster that likes to jump from board to board just angering/negatively bashing stuff. I will say that the PT is one of the few things out there I will argue my disdain for it but other than that I try to do it with civility and attacking the product itself ala George Lucas and the films themselves. But overall most of us are arguing what we "don't" want in Episode VII. But honestly tons of my friends (on the internet and the real world) like the PT, (including you) and I never have a problem with it, I like discussing it, and sometimes really want to know what/why they like them. (Some day you will have to tell me your thoughts. I think you know we would have a great civil discussion) But I'd say we get passionate at times, but for the most part seem to stay much more civil, and it never gets as bad as it did in the Spidey/Bat boards.

As for the Batboards I can't even image how many banned users there are from there. Ya, sadly there was a bunch of good posters especially prior to January 2008 there were a lot of them back then. Then seemingly to me after the TDK trailer in December 2007 there seemed to be a major influx of even more over the top people and it became a messy place. There were some great times in there, but sadly ya there was a lot of insanity. You and C. Lee always had your hands full with that place.

Last night I was thinking about jimmy (he was banned in late 07 I think) I remember how he just liked to push the buttons and post inappropriate stuff. lol I laugh about it now but I remember he liked to cause problems. Sadly I do get nostalgic for the pre 2008 days leading up to TDK. It just seemed peaceful then.

These are like voting for a more favorable member in each match, a popularity contest in a way, they're fun
I guess you can blame me for the request and campaigns from last year. Not doing it again

If you have to ask strangers for help in a popularity contest, you've already lost.

Thought I covered it in the SW boards when I said "not too often"...but it has happened......from both sides of the argument.

Oh ya, not going to deny that. The Hype SW section is a nice haven. TFN has become out of control since 2001 IMO.

The most..."angered" arguments on both sides really were in the early 2000's though, and I think the residual of that is still felt by some on both sides. I remember it was all out war back then by a select few.

The comic movies have brought all sorts of loons here over the years. I totally avoid those sections.
