Are there any banned Members that you kind of miss? - Part 2

Aren't posts that lead to an infraction generally deleted?

And if you get 10 infractions you're really asking for it.

Apparently not because I have links to those posts in my infractions list.

I tend to agree but then you have to think of it this way. If I get 10 infractions over 10 years, lets say for the sake of argument I got one infraction per year, doesn't that number become pretty arbitrary? It doesn't really seem that bad.

Who are some of the meanest mod's?

Not mean, but clean. C Lee generally deletes all the posts surrounding a ban or infraction so the (often hilarious) evidence is gone. I prefer when a mod smacks down a poster publicly and leaves the humiliation there for all to see.

Sorry C Lee. Please don't strike me down with a thunderbolt.

Look, I'm pretty outspoken and tend to get in not a small amount of arguments that go too far. But after six and a half years here, I still only have 3 infractions. So I think 10 strikes and you're out is more than generous.

EDIT: Oops. I meant 4. 4 infractions ah ah ah. [/The Count]

You're no rabble rouser!:cmad:

Yeah, not all posts are deleted....I will sometimes simply leave a post as a warning to others, but of course porn has to be deleted...: )

As far as the 10 infraction thing, I can't speak for all mods, but generally I will give a warning on the thread, and then a warning infraction MOST of the time, but a few instances have led me to a full infraction right off the bat.

If posts that supposedly still count against you in the long run, they're not really expired. What's the point to putting an expiration date on an infraction if it doesn't actually expire?

I think to be fair to the mods, it's like part of the infraction system the board gives them.

The expiration date explanation....

When you get an infraction....there is a time clock started....if you receive 3 infractions within a two week period, you are automatically given a probation....thus, as time passes the older infractions expire from the time clock countdown....but....the infraction still counts toward the 10 strikes and you are out rule.

Do you guys still put people in The Phantom Zone or was that just for me?

I'll pelt you with marshmallows if you want.

It's a two edged sword.....you can leave the infraction post (as long as it isn't too severe) to help with the flow of a conversation and to show someone being an idiot....but if you leave it up, you get it reported a dozen more times even though it was taken care of and you also get people now quoting it and continuing an argument or off track post for another half dozen pages or more.

It wasn't just you...there were several....but it hasn't been used for awhile now, it was just one of those things that didn't quite work out as hoped.

Its where posters go to die. I'm the only survivor.

Oh like that makes you so special... :o

What are some of the most controversial things that have happened in hypes past?

There was that one time a mod named EML was banned but I can't remember the specifics behind it.

I've never seen any major controversies, I'm kinda curious about that myself....

What did a mod do to get banned? It's gotta be good.

The whole Franklin Richards pretending to be a woman (stealing pics from a real person in doing so) so he could get pictures of male posters was really disturbing.

I only really took notice of all that during the aftermath. I'd love to look into those archives.

If I remember correctly....he went on a homophobic rant.

Yikes. I thought it'd be something amusing, like he went on a banning rampage, but that's just...... yeah. Well, glad never to have met his acquaintance then.
