Are there any banned Members that you kind of miss? - Part 2

Moderators and admins.

I thought it was done ONLY by the admins based on whatever evidence that can be provided and supported by the mods... but I think the ultimate decision is up to the admins alone...

at least that's what I thought... the mods MODERATE, but the admins ADMINISTER...

I look at the mods/admins and I see a darkness in them. And in that darkness, eyes staring back at me. Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes... Eyes that they will ban forever.

Anno_Domini has been banned. :csad:

I'm genuinely surprised. Like many others, I'd had my fair share of debates with Anno, but they were always friendly. As regwec mentioned, the guy always seemed to stay calm and remain polite.

Out of curiosity I looked up his last few posts and there doesn't seem to be anything glaringly obvious that would lead to a ban. I can only assume the offending post(s) have been removed, unless it was something outside of regular posting that caused Anno's removal. It's a bummer in any case. Who will defend The Dark Knight Rises as valiantly as he did now?

Passion begets unruliness.

I'm glad he's banned and I hope he burns in hell!

*I have no idea who Anno is.

To be honest this is one of the few forums on the internet that feels properly moderated.

Based on the rules we have and how well mods enforce them, I would agree. However, I oftentimes feel the rules themselves here are way too strict.

I've had the complete opposite experience with him. I'll never forget "debating" on whether or not an electrical engine makes a lot of noise, or what the term "unconfirmed sightings" means.

He'll be back, though. It's only a temporary ban.

It's perminant, can I ask what he did to get banned? I didn't think he was that bad, anywho he will probably make a new account but be less defensive of TDKR now...

What?!?! Now I have no side-kick for the wrestling PPV Predictions Thread!

Ahhhh, that's where I recognized his name from. Was he high up in the top 10? Maybe this helps me move up the list....? :hehe:

Global mods can ban, forum mods can't. Admins are the only ones that can overturn a decision.

I think that's precisely right. But then, you may ask why somebody wants what seems to be a thankless task. Some people accept the job because they enjoy their time here and want to do their bit for peace and harmony. Others probably choose it so that they don't have to lose arguments anymore. This isn't an attack on any individual, but a reflection on the way all positions of relative "authority" are filled.

What I do think is unreasonable is the instance where a mod indulges in an argument in a belligerent and snide tone, knowing that their "status" prevents the other poster(s) involved responding tit-for-tat.

That's a fair enough observation, all I can say is in choosing who is brought on board the staff we look to posters that not only have an interest in the section they are coming into, but whose posting style has been that of a level headed person who would be taking the role simply to help out as opposed to a more underhanded reason.

I agree and on more than one occasion mods that have done so have been admonished by admins and at times even infracted.

Why was Anno banned? Many people still haven't found out why. :funny:

He seemed to spend most of his time on the movie section. Most of the times the mods delete post that led to the banning. I'd guess he got into a heated debate with someone else and got an infraction that maxed out his limit of 10.

I've looked at his posts and it doesn't seem like he got into a big argument, but maybe it got deleted.

Eh,he was kinda annoying, but not more so than many others here.

He seemed fairly level headed, but I guess trying to defend TDKR 24/7 eventually takes it's toll.:oldrazz:

The movie has been out for over a year, I don't understand why people just can't let it go.

Because defending a piece of entertainment is so crucial and important, duh! :o
