i am for the cause of cloning animals. think of it this way, if we clone animals it could help us in a lot of ways.

1. we can save extinct or almost extinct animals.

2. we could clone enough animals for food usage, which could lead to the end of hunger in most countrys.

3. we could save our dying beloved pets.

4. we could clone human organs incase we need transplants.

there is a number of possiblitys. so are you for or against it?

What ever happend to that infamous thread ''do clones have souls''

never saw that thread but, that is an intersting question.

i dont think clones would have souls but than again i dont think we humans have souls either...

we have no proof of having such things.

lol here we go again

uhhhh. so against it.
i don't think think we should be making more of anything that we can't take care of in the first place.
now endangered species?!
it's an answer attempting to correct all the harm we've cause to the environment.
but do we need cloned cows? dogs? CATS?
uhhh, hells no.:o
FREE THE ANIMALS IN THE HUMANE SOCIETY!
let them go rabid and rip us to shreds

You make some good points, Ice-man.
The only point I disagree on is #3.
Cloning a pet does not save it. The pet still dies. The clone is not the same animal. It has the same DNA and genetic make-up. In fact, it's an exact duplicate copy. But that's all it will ever be.... a copy. Your original pet is gone. Nothing changes that.

The endangered species argument is a good one, but there are a lot of problems associated with cloning, and breeding programmes, like the ones they're using in China with the Pandas, might make for fewerr risks.

Pets though, nah. Everything has its time to die and the personality wouldn't be the same.

Cloning organs though is a damn good idea. Would reduce the risk of rejections and the massive shortage of transplant organs. Not sure though, if they grew a human liver in a pig and then suggested that they transplanted it into me if I'd be ok with that though. It'd have to be grown in a tank for me to be ok with it.

totally!
it would decrease the margin for error involving faulty organs sooo much it would be impossible to see without a microscope!
i mean everyone, poor, old could have an organ readily availible to them if there were a way to grow them and create a surplus!
good call Kaz.

It would also be interesting if there was some way cloning blood. I mean, I'm a regular donor, but its such a slow system and they're always short. If they could clone blood on demand there would be none of the HIV risk, none of the worries about CJD or hepititis. Would mean I wouldn't have to be so damned clean living...

I wonder if they could create an organ surplus... I mean, keeping them alive can't be too hard, since people with kidney failure can be put on machines to keep them going... I never even thought of that.

if it led to the development of purely non-sentient consumable flesh being grown, then i wouldn't have a problem with it, especially if it was able to save countless lives in other countries and help alleviate some of the world's problems.

I think everyone should be cloned and there should be a Thunderdome built on each continent. There everyone would fight to the death while an angry midget rode around on a giant ******, until each continent had around 250,000 people, and then there will be a huge final showdown in the Antarctica Thunderdome to see who the final 250,000 people on earth will be. Then they will repopulate the Earth.............

...........awesome.

seriously!
my grandfather went into the hospital dealing with minor complications and died in there because they gave him blood that was infected with Hepatitis.
of course this was quite a while back, but as many people out there that ARE infected with something or another, are taking medications and other things there should be some sort of research on synthetic blood or cloning blood or something!

i think that eventually we will all be like Ghost in the Shell characters and have cyber bodies and organic brains.

I'm pretty sure they are looking into synthetic blood, but its a complex thing to try and synthesise. I think the best thing they've come up with so far is synthetic plasma, but I don't know if its been trialed or was sucessful.

I'm a reasonably rare blood type, so I have to give on a regular basis. They use mine to stop women miscarrying when their babies are the wrong blood type. Thats a pretty amazing thing to learn.

hell yeah.
all i remember about the one time i gave blood is that they let a new girl do me and she stuck the needle in my artery and when i started feeling sick the main nurse came and ripped it out of my arm and i started throwing up everywhere.
it was terrible.:cmad:

Luckily, I've yet to have a bad experience. I really hate needles, because despite what anyone says I can always feel the damned thing once its in there, so I always go to the same place to give, and my blood gets taken by the same couple of people. That way, I know they aren't gonna mess it up.

i haven't been able to go back since because you can't give blood within a year of getting a tattoo so i've been inelligible ever since then... thank god.

Its a good thing, less endangerd specias, pets you love always being there,if a certain animal has a certain trait valuble for science itll be in abundance.

I pretty much want the nations of the world to focus on nothing but animal cloning, 24/7, until we're swimming in a worldwide ocean of furry animals.

I would love a pet velociraptor to chain up outside of my house. Those damned Jehovah's Witnesses wouldn't bother me on Saturday mornings anymore! :cmad:

jag
