The Amazing Spider-Man Are You Happy About The Reboot?

Are You Happy with the Reboot?

  • Heck Yeah! They'll finally do it right this time! Bring on the quips!

  • Heck No! I loved me some Raimi and Tobey!

  • Not sure yet. I'll wait and see who they get replaced with.

Personally I'm not excited about this reboot because they're doing it to focus back on the one part of Raimi's trilogy that he got right, which is the early years.

Say what you want about the films, but aside from the absence of Gwen Stacy, Raimi did justice to Spiderman's journey in the first film. I really don't see what they can conjure up to make this fresh and interesting. I'm ready to see spider-MAN, I'm tired of the sobbing, woe is me, adolescent teenager, it's been done for 2 and 1/2 movies already!

I was all for a reboot with a slightly more mature looking and acting Peter Parker. This just feels like a kick to the face to everything that was positive about Raimi's films. It's tantamount to a Batman reboot in 2015 focusing on Bruce Wayne's early years again, I mean, do we really need to go through this again?

I was looking forward to Spidey 4 because I felt Connors becoming the Lizard would have been great to see on the screen. But since nothing will continue with Raimi and the series is starting over, I do not care what happens with the movies. They can do their thing and I'll do my thing and we shall never meet.

I'm happy at the idea of a reboot, because that means I won't have to see Tobey and Kirstin again and endure any of Raimi's weird walkin/dance/music moments anymore.

Hopefully we'll get characters that are more closely to the comics this time.

Its to soon, 2012 is two years away,Seriously how can they do this when spiderman is still fresh in peoples minds. I cant believe this.

This is probably the worst time to do it... I was excited for SM4... they couldn't wait another movie or two for this?

I'm on the fence

I have very mixed feelings, but I really don't like the idea of them turning Spidey into a TDK rip-off.

After SM3, and an average SM1, yes I am excited that they're trying something different, especially if it doesn't include unfunny jokes, nods to Superman, Tobey's dancing and involuntarily funny crying faces, a Mary Jane that's no more than the average love interest. And oh, a J. J. Jameson limited to be a comedic relief.

Raimi's formula grew thin too soon. A normal scientist that becomes evil because of some experiment gone bad. The least I wanted was Raimi doing the same again for a fourth time.

Now, I have to say That SM 2 was one of the best superhero movies I've seen, even with Raimi's usual vices.

But I wasn't satisfied with 2 out of 3.

They don't have to Batman-ize it, but a more serious adult approach would be desirable.

Because seeing spider-baby and vulturess would be totally worth it, right?

still can't believe a reboot has been announced so soon

It's still very strange to me given they sounded like spiderman 4 was really going on and was going to return to the style of the first two rather than the infamous third installment

I for one was looking forward to spider man 4 and imo John Malcovich would have been a great choice for the vulture

Did the original Trilogy have faults ? of course it did, to say they didn't would be ignorant to some extent

but they did NOT need to reboot the entire franchise because spiderman 3 did not please a few people....there are a few other heroes that need reboots/incredible hulk treatment... ie, F4, Daredevil, Ghost rider to name a few

It feels like this reboot was a quick decision on sony's part to secure the rights for the next decade

So with the impending reboot franchise on the way... here are some pros and cons

Pro's Peter's in high school - more like the comics (he was graduated by the 2nd act in spiderman 1)

We'll probably see a more smart ass spidey

Marvel has a say this time round

Hopefully they will not kill off the villians allowing them to return in possible sequals ie Sinister Six
Venom

Introduce the REAL gwen stacy/captain stacy and also felicia hardy this time
  • NO more every villian is connected to parker - the only exceptions should be Venom doc ock and goblin
Con's
  • will be a little hard to get people to accept the new peter parker
  • ANOTHER origin film
  • imo no one can top j.k Simmons as JJJ
  • recycled villians - no problem with using goblin, ock and venom again as they are 3 of spideys biggest foes, but there are a few guys that deserve a shot, ie. Electro, scorpion, vulture, the lizard, like how batman begins used scarecrow and ra's
  • The Raimi suit is PERFECTION and will be a little hard to match
i'm sure there are alot more but i think i've mentioned enough

Final say: I'm sure the reboot will be good, but still think its a bit soon for one and sony should have let raimi and co finish....well whatever they had planned without repeating their spiderman 3 creative clashes

HECK YES!
No more sam raimi and his weird hardons for lame villains? vulture, sandman?

I think it's stupid that they're doing the whole origin story over again when it was just done ten years ago. It would have been better to just start out with Peter Parker adult and established as Spider-Man.

Can I borrow your crystal ball? When did they say they were going to redo the origin?

Which I say they should do since Raimi ruined it in Spider-Man 3.

I was ready for a cast and director change after SM3, but this whole TDK-inspired high school origin film that's been rumored has me worried.

As fans , this is all we ask for. Stay true to the material. That's all we want, man..:csad:

Given how much Raimi's done for Sony financially, they would've let him do a better SM-3 than the one we ended up getting. If that happened, I wouldn't be nearly as mad at the reboot thing.

Let me guess.....you want Carnage right?

Something that I find interesting is that everyone breathes fire on Raimi for "ruining Venom" when the only reason he used Venom was because the studio forced him to. Now that Raimi is gone, the people who forced him to put a half-assed Venom arc into Spider-Man 3 have total control over the franchise. Do we really want the people who damaged Spider-Man 3 to be in charge of this franchise with a free hand?

I want the people who like Venom in charge of the franchise. Yes. Did they force Raimi to use Venom. Yes. Did they force Raimi to write a terrible script? No. Did they force Raimi to make Venom AND Eddie Brock suck? No. Did they force Raimi to write in terrible dance scenes? No. Did they force him to ruin Spider-Man's origin? No.

I'd rather see them in control than "Over The Top Cheese Fest" Raimi.

Not in the 1st movie but down the line yes. I would like to see a hobgoblin/ goblin that ACTUALLY look like their comicbook/cartoon counterparts. But I doubt we'll get that. Thombstone and Kraven are two villains I have no problem seeing on the big screen.

BTW, my condolences to anyone who was hoping to see The Lizard in a movie. If they're going to be rebooting this franchise every 10 years, the chances of them ever getting past Green Goblin, Doc Ock, and Venom are pretty slim.

Disagree. I think at this point the Lizard is the most likely villain.

Which is why you're here posting about it.:whatever:

You are so full of it. I'm sorry but you are. You are going to go see this movie and you know it.

People will only think about how great Spider-man 4 would have been if the reboot completely fails. But the fallacy in that thinking is foolish, because it's obvious Spider-man 4 did not have a good enough story to tell. If they made it, you would talk about how they should have rebooted. See, everyone is so predictable. If you like it, it's the greatest thing ever, and the greatest director ever, and you're twiterpated. But if you don't like it then you hate it, you hate the director, you hate the studio. Fans are way to dramatic. Wait to see what's going to happen, then we will see if it's a mistake or not.

Exactly ! The anticipation of seeing Venom has already died down thanks to Sam Raimi half-assed effort of portraying him. What they should have done is introduced Venom at the end of SM3 and then lead him into his single lone movie , part 4. But nope some idiot thought it would be smart to kill him off so soon.

[/LIST]Con's
  • will be a little hard to get people to accept the new peter parker
  • Like people had a hard time accepting the new cast of Star Trek or Batman? :D

    [*]
    [*]ANOTHER origin film
You don't know that. Besides, the way Raimi went back and ruined Spider-Man's origin in SM3, I welcome another origin story that stays true to the character.

[*]NO more every villian is connected to parker - the only exceptions should be Venom doc ock and goblin

Doc Ock was never connected to Peter in the comics.

look who's talkin buddy

I don't know what you mean. I was looking forward to Spider-Man 4. I was going to see it. I never pretended I wouldn't. But now I'm REALLY REALLY excited for it. I think it will be much better this way. While Spider-Man 1 and 2 were good (2 had some great action), and 3 mostly sucked (yes it had good parts) I want more from my Spidey films. I want to LOOOOOOVE them. Raimi always injected way to much cheese and bad writing for that to happen. I'll tell you one thing for sure, I am SO freaken happy I don't have to see that stupid Hoffman character anymore. I've never seen such an obvious display of nepotism in my entire life.
