While we probably won't get him in the first season, I could see them adding him to the cast in future seasons when S.H.I.E.L.D. is started up.

It would be interesting for them to make him a supporting character that everybody likes(even the audience, that knows his little secret), just to make it interesting. You'd expect them to make him an antagonistic role but if he was one of the likeable protagonists it would make the other characters suspect him less and the audience have mixed feelings about him.

Yeah, I'd like him to be played up as straight helpful. You'd have to imagine that they don't trust him and he wants to seem as loyal as possible. Make him their tech guy whenever they need some cool gadget. Have a couple instances where he's placed in a potentially compromising position and he always takes the side of helping his new comrades.

Then, of course, cut away to show scenes of him doing shady things in secret for the slow-witted viewers who may not be fully aware of his role in TWS. Arnim Zola was playing the long-game and had no desire to compromise on that during his (natural) lifetime.

Nothing says he actually tries as his artificial intelligent duplicate ends up a mite corrupted with a Hydra preogrative he doesn't share since i think AIM is more to his liking.

Would make a neat twist if he wasn't responsible for SHIELD's infiltration wouldn't it?

I really enjoyed Toby Jones' portrayal of the character and am looking forward to him showing up again.

Well, it looks like I got my wish. Surely Zola will have a more recurring role in the second season if ABC renews it, and Disney owns ABC, so its going to get renewed.

I like how he said how the food was excellent

It was certainly a reference to the nice meal Philips brought him during the interrogation scene in CATFA

We at least now know how he was able to turn so many SHIELD agents into HYDRA sleeper agents. Nice little connecting tissue to TWS.

I'm impressed they managed to keep his cameo under the radar. It worked well in establishing how Hydra came back going forward (and how Dr. Faustus was part of Hydra).

Great cameo, shame the AC Facebook page posted a picture of him before I saw it and ruined it though ¬¬

Not really sure what he plans to do though... SHIELD hasn't even been founded yet

He's waiting for the right opportunity to regain his freedom because "America is the land of opportunity."

You know, I just realised that Bucky was brainwashed, and Fenhoff is a master of brainwashing... D'oh

But if Fennhoff ends up working for HYDRA, that means he's not very loyal to Leviathan.

I think he was only loyal to Leviathan out of a desire to get his revenge on Howard Stark. At a minimum, he isn't going to have as much an opportunity to help Leviathan anyway, so he might as well adapt.

Wasn't Leviathan him though? Fenhoff was and is Leviathan

I doubt it. If Leviathan was running the Black Widow training ground, that predates Fenhoff's involvement, which appeared to be a reaction to Finnau.

I don't think he's Leviathan. I think he just works for them/is a part of Leviathan. But clearly he had his own motives for this mission as well.

As someone who historically has never given two ****s about the character in the comics, I've been entertained every single second he's been onscreen in the films. Hoping to see a lot more of him somewhere in the MCU. Jones is very entertaining.

Was it ever stated that Leviathan ran the BW program? I kinda got the impression it was a government thing

Well, Faustus was there, which suggests to me a connection.

That being said, I don't see anything inconsistent since I got the impression that Leviathan was a government thing

Yeah, Leviathan is basically the Soviet equivalent of the SSR. No evidence to believe its rogue in any way ( though Fennhoff *might* have been rogue ).

I'm so glad Marvel have used Zola so much! Especially because I think Toby Jones is a underrated actor (I become a fan after playing the "Dream Lord" in Doctor Who), I would have never expected him to appear in TWS and was excited to have him in the film and in Agent Carter! Very excited to see what he and his HYDRA plans will be up to.

I'm hoping Jones has at least a re-occurring guest role in season two of AC. He's a great actor and I like his Zola. Though I think they should leave the integration of him and other Hydra agents/scientists to maybe season 3 (depending on how long they foresee this show running). I would like to see him and Dr. Faustus work together against AC for a while.
