Arnold Is Back for Terminator 5 - Part 1

John Connor looked like a villain in T2's opening and so did Nick Stahl in T3's opening scene of the future

Clarke for John Connor? I could get on board with that, he is one of those actors who is yet to have a starring role (though that will change with the Apes sequel next year) but has always given quietly good performances.

He certainly looks big and tough enough to be the leader of the human resistance, and he is a good actor as well.

As for Taylor, I dont think we can judge him on TDW that much. All of that movies problems were down to Marvel, they wanted him to add all the humour in, they wanted the run-time that short, they wanted Malekith's back story cut down as well as some other things in the movie.

I liked TDW but if Taylor had been left to his own devices I think we would have got a better movie which would have been more dark and serious in the right places. I am willing to give a chance with Terminator 5 for this reason, despite being a HUGE Terminator fan.

I hope Taylor hires a better cinematographer this time around. The weird thing is that the Thor 2 DOP has worked with Taylor on Game of Thrones, which looked more cinematic than the look they came up with for the film. Some shot were underlie (like when Thor and the Warriors 3 were discussing their plans); or looked video-ish. They should've add some grain into the imagery (film-pass) to give the visuals some depth and texture.

They should get Peter Hyams to DoP. This looks more like a Terminator movie than anything since 1991.

He also did the cinematography for Sound of Thunder and The Musketeer, both which looked awful sadly.

I can't vouch for Musketeer, but even Deakins or Pfiester would've made A Sound of Thunder look awful given the production nightmare that was.

Man, now I'm imagining how Deakins would shoot a Terminator film.

Clarke is a good fit for John Connor but isn't he older than the actresses that are supposed to be int he running to play Sarah Connor?

Yeah, but I would assume his scenes are in the future and Sarah's stuff is in the present.

Ya but it's very clear that Emilia/(or possibly Brie) will be playing the young (1980's perhaps) but the young Sarah Connor. Whereas Jason will play the older John Connor, and the casting shows that as much in my view. I actually think this more so points that they will have parallel stories. John in the future and Sarah in the past would be very interesting and seems to be the route they are taking.

Yeah I always wanted to know and see more of the future in T1-3 and so this one showing a good amount of both the past and preset would be great

Yeah it would be interesting if this DID take place in the 80's; unless they retconned the time line dates again.

Full or half reboot IF they show any of the"past" I think it'll probably be set in 2015,so yeah retconned again

I hope this movie doesn't ignore the previous films but has it's own timeline. I always welcome Arnold. He is the terminator. I hope he does these films until he finally retires. Who cares how old he gets. There are so many untapped stories in this universe that they can include him in. Doesn't always have to be a cyborg.

This Is going to more full on reboot.

Does anyone really think the past would be 1980's and not 2015

If Arnold Is playing the terminator protecting Sarah Connor for Kyle reece to
be In film odds are they changing the lore so he Is Sarah's love intrest In
present.

For John Connor to be In film there must be eather a:A lengthy prologue in'future or B:story goes back and forth from present and future.

It won't be a full on reboot if Arnold is back and playing a terminator..unless it's just a cameo as a nod to the original franchise

But this is definitely probably going Star Trek reboot which would make it half reboot/half sequel to the original timeline or well series

There is not a lot of proof of that either. It never said Arnold is the Terminator in any of the press releases. He may be a cameo/different character for all we know.

I'd prefer Arnold as a new character,IF it's a complete reboot then I'd have Arnold cameo as a military general in present day talking about the new T-800 and if it's a ST type of continuation reboot then playing a military general or scientist from the future and who's younger self is the template for the T-800's

I disagree respectly.

1:Arnold as terminator sent back In time to protect Sarah Connor means Kyle reece can't be sent.
2:arnold has been descripted as starring
3:james Bond was rebooted with Casino royale but Judi dench still played M.And remember In Brosnon bond films she played a post cold war political appointe to MI6 yet In reboot she Is longtime head of MI6 and vet of the cold war
4:To do A trek 2009 sceniro The time travel would have to be pre 1984 or pre T1 If you prefer.I seriously doudt it won't 2015 the time travel Is going to
5:If Kyle reece Isn't sent back to protect Sarah and he's In film he may simply be present day love intrest for sarah

when he has been mentioned he has been called star or reprising his role.

If he's different character then there Is no reason to believe this Is like Star Trek 2009.

Yeah but Arnold is way bigger than Dench and so him appearing in a big role even as a new character in a complete reboot would be confusing or weird with people just wanting a sequel if he's being involved

Maybe, but in the PR's it never seems to mention that it seems. I may be wrong but the official statements have never really talked of that it seems.
