Machines age?

The only way I see this working is if they meet the human that the Terminator was modeled after. Because lets face it...he is old and out of shape.

Depending on how deep they want the technological rabbit hole to go, there could be a technological advancement in the Terminators that does allow the machines human outer skin to age. There would, of course, need to be a purpose to that and without consciously trying to think of one... I cannot.

Also, a scenario I came up with that could explain a lot of the 'holes' people complain about with the sequels is as follows:

There is simply more than one John Connor in the world, there always has been. It is no stretch to assume the real John Connor or Sarah connor set up all the 'dummy' John Connor's in attempt to keep the actual John Connor alive. But... that would make John Connor and Sarah Connor responsible for the death of the human race. THEN the question of whether or not the Terminator was ever the bad guy comes into play and then it's a whole new ballgame.

Hey maybe its just because im stoned but i enjoy thinking about that idea about them setting up dummy john connors. After T2 they travel around recruiting people to become john connors or something.. ah i dunno stoned. sorry.

Yeah I wasn't stoned or on drugs when I came up with the idea but I find it great that an idea of mine is universal amongst pot heads and self proclaimed rational thinking type people.

Yeah, it's a rather rational explanation to Terminator continuity issues. Even if it wasn't by plan, there are numerous John Connor's in the U.S. alone. Who's to say one of them didn't just find the tapes after the bombs and decide he or she had to assume that role? I came up with this very real possibility while watching Terminator: Salvation and it really does expand the possibilities of the Terminator series even more.

Even more alarming, what if in reality actual machines from somewhere have come here to kill an actual person known as John Connor and the entire movie series was made just as a distraction to these machines or a warning to the real John Connor it is seeking to destroy for whatever reason.

The lines between reality and fantasy suddenly become less distinguishable.

Further complications arise when we take into account that our instincts alone may be what led us to that series and that we may never truly understand our own instincts in regards to such things.

what could the storyline possibly be this time around? how much further can they really go with it unless they just say "this is an alternate timeline"

I think that is what they might do kinda like what Star Trek did in 09. When dealing with time travel it opens the door to many different timelines.

but they already did this. they already rebooted terminator with Bale and with the tv series. i think with ST it was different since they rebooted for the first time. plus ST was popular.

the general public doesnt care. 20% terminator fans are not enough. this is a waste of money and creative team ( Stan Winston studio and ILM).

Has the origin of the terminator’s likeness ever been addressed (why it looks like Arnold)? They could go with the idea that Arnold was a general or something of the human resistance who had been captured by Skynet and used as their T1 template. The story of T5 could revolve around a rescue mission or reemergence of his human character….idunno…

Stop being ridiculous for once.

EXCLUSIVE: 'Terminator 5' Director Justin Lin Denies Original Cast Reunion, Won't Get Stuck In Continuity

Judgment Day is behind us, but the threat of Skynet still hangs heavy in the air as "Fast Five" director Justin Lin and original star Arnold Schwarzenegger join forces for "Terminator 5."
"I've talked to Arnold and I feel like there's a take that I'm excited about, a 'Terminator' movie there that I've always wanted to see and I still haven't seen," Lin told MTV News in an exclusive interview about the new "Terminator" outing. A lot has been reported about Lin and Schwarzenegger's approach to the post-apocalyptic action series, but the "Fast Five" director insisted that recent buzz about the franchise's original cast rising against the machines one more time simply isn't true.
"No. I don't know where that came from," he said of that particular report. "Everything has just been between me and Arnold, you know? Just us going out and trying to find the right partners. I have certain elements, but it's never been about, 'Hey, let's bring everybody back!' I just don't process that way. To me, thematically, there are certain things that I want to see in a 'Terminator' movie. A lot of that does draw back to creating this timeline that is an extension, closer tonally to the first and second movies. But to me, it's not as mathematical as, 'Hey, let's get everybody back together and we'll shoot the movie.'"
Lin, who says that his vision of "Terminator" is more in line with James Cameron's original movies than Jonathan Mostow and McG's more recent entries, added that he doesn't feel like he has to adhere to the continuity set forth by "Rise of the Machines" and "Salvation."

"I always feel like what's great about the 'Terminator' franchise is that there's time-travel and there are different timelines to play with," he said. "There are also a lot of gaps from what we love about all of the 'Terminator' movies, so there's a lot of things we can do and play with. To me, all of that, I don't really want to discuss it now. That's part of the fun of developing. But the bigger questions for me are always the characters and the themes. You want to start there. But obviously, answering your question, ['Terminator'] does have that capability, finding fresh ways of going back without destroying other [movies], because you can tell your own stories."
Speaking of timelines, it's not entirely clear whether Lin will focus on "Terminator 5" as his next movie, especially when he has other projects including a "Fast Five" sequel on his plate: "We're talking to different studios, but it has to be the right situation. If it's not right, then I could totally move on and I should move on. Probably in the next three or four weeks, I'll have a very clear picture [of what my next movie will be]."

I told you so???

So Rise of the Machines and Salvation is out of continuity? cool, fine by me.

Well with Terminator it wouldn't bother me that much. With all the time travel that has happened in the franchise the timeline has to be screwed up and not definite. So I think anything can happen at any time.

IF by two months nothing happens with finding a studio,I bet Lin will move right away to Fast Six and this deal will fall apart!!,We'll be reading articles reading"Lin pulls out of T5,Arnold focusing on other movies and the franchise's future is unwritten"!

I don't care either way.
I understand that you seem incredibly pumped for any Terminator sequel, but really, there's no need to freak out over the negative stuff. At least, your posts make it sound like you're freaking out. It's like John Connor said, "chill out." We'll see how this goes :cwink:

I'm not freaking out and just saying it's possible!,I am pumped for a sequel as I admit that But I wouldn't get upset IF it gets canceled.

since Fast Five made so much money, the sequel will be realesed in 2 years.
what Lin is doing.........i dont know. but he will direct the sequel for 2013.

Rise of the Machines was the movie I liked the least so they can ignore that
