Arnold Schwarzenegger Returning For The Legend of Conan

Yeah, good point, like when they had them referring in a nonsensical way to the Camel gag from the first movie. It just sounded like they were making a movie there, and knew it, instead of it actually being Conan riding into town. Good jokes are fine, but they shouldn't take us out of the movie with silly winks to the camera.

I totally agree. I always hated how DeLaurentis didn't take the second movie seriously. A totally kickass character like Subotai is replaced by a weak, cowardly, wisecracking sidekick like Malekk. So totally lame. Adding a little comic relief is fine. Conan punching out the camel, Conan passing out drunk in his soup, Conan's teacher kicking a fellow student in the groin as he's sportin' wood looking at Conan, etc. All great comedic moments in the first movie. But the whole movie had a very dark, serious tone.

As a life long Conan the barbarian fan, My excitement for this is unfathomable. The Arnold Conan ranks in my top 3 favorite movies of all time.

If this goes anyway, that is, I'm down for another Conan. I can see this being Arnold's 'Unforgiven' to his 'action films'.

Who else wants to see Gerry Lopez return as Subotai?

I can't really feel this movie. Jason Momoa was Conan. Only his script and the hole movie were terrible garbage. But with a better script and better movie Momoa would have ruled as Conan. Don't really miss Conan with an austrian accent.

I'm also a big supporter of the Momoa Conan. As exciting as it is that Arnold is returning to the role to some people, to me it seems like backsliding iff you ask me. We get a Conan more in the mold of REH's Conan and now it's back to the other version.

I personally enjoyed the hell outta the Momoa Conan. He had major potential as the part. But alas, I am first and foremost an old-school arnie conan fan. and having lived life "knowing" there would never be another one, still cannot get over the fact one is on the horizon. Gonna be epic!

It's all business, folks...nothing personal.

Momoa's Conan cost 'round $100 mil. and only made half that. They should have only spent $50 mil.

Ghost Rider got a loose sequel (the first film had equally bad reviews to Conan). Why? It made money.

Back to the drawing board...or in this case, Mr Schwarz.

I don't have a problem with Momoa as Conan, but count me in the group that wanted something wayyyyyy different in Destroyer than we got.

And I'll clarify by saying that the throne scene at the end of the original CoB could have gone some fantastic places if DeLaur didn't basically piss all over the franchise with Destroyer.

It would be great closure for me and others who are more fans of the cinematic version than REH's (with all due respect) to see this film potentially done the right way.

Well well put.

Well said sir. In ten years we'll get a more REH centric reboot anyway.

I wonder if Verhoeven does get the gig, if they'll recycle the Crusades script.

Momoa IS Conan. Having said that, I need an Arnie King Conan movie.

Arnold Schwarzenegger hasn't toplined a movie that made over a $100 million at the domestic box office in 10 years.

His comeback movie was a freaking wash. It bombed. So "the business" here JackMercy makes little sense to me.

Isn't there a Conan comic book that's pretty much what the third film could have been? I also enjoyed Momoa's portrayal of Conan more than the old Conan.

Conan the Barbarian (2011) movie fell apart right after Conan and the girl defeated the sand warriors. It was like the writers just gave up on the last part of the film.

Momoa is essentially the Timothy Dalton of the Conan frnachise; extremely accurate to the source material yet stuck with a film that isn't worthy of his portrayal.

Agreed. perhaps a different story with different writers would have resulted in a better film.
