Comics ASM Creative Teams Revealed!

Hey, the link is acting wonky for some reason...sorry guys. Just go to Newsarama. It's on their front page.

Man, Bob Gale. That's the dude who wrote Back To The Future. :word:

This is all very interesting, I'm still not sure how it will all pan out. But I'm looking forward to Brand New Day

This is what I told them over at Newsarama...

I don't care WHO they put on Amazing for this "Brand New Day..." if the sun doesn't rise on Peter and Mary Jane TOGETHER, they can TAKE their distractions and gimmicks and STICK them where the sun doesn't shine!

That said... I loved Slott's Spidey and the Human Torch and McNiven has grown on me. I have my doubts about some of the others.

I want to follow the stories WITH a consistent look. I hate it when it jumps around... especially if it's dramatically. AND I won't pick up a title if I don't like the artist... like, even though Jenkins was good, I couldn't STAND Ramos, so no SSM for me.

So... IF they haven't completely LOST me with "One More Day," what do I do if I hate the artists on half the teams?! Ugg. That means I only read Spider-Man once every 3-4 months? I could forget the whole thing..

More than anything I don't like that they are creating a buy this title or NOTHING senero.

Of course there is always Ultimate SM and Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane... the ONLY title I consistantly ENJOY here lately.

Well it's about friggin' time Marvel made Dan Slott write Amazing Spider-Man, especially considering how well he's handled him in the Spidey/Human Torch mini series. Course, it's been rumored for months already, but even so.

That said, the first two: Dan Slott and Steve McNiven, and Marc Guggenheim and Salvador Larca are pretty good picks, and I'd imagine that their stints on Amazing Spider-Man will most likely do better than the other two. Of course, it all depends on the state of Spider-Man after "One More Day" because there's always a possibility that no matter how good these guys are, they could get saddled with a bad status quo.

I am truly excited by the possibility that after years without a writer that knows a single damn thing about Spidey, I may be able to renew my subscription.
Good Luck with fixing this abhorrent mess, gentlemen... especially you, Dan.

*crosses fingers and begins chanting "Make Sins Past Go Away"*

While some of these creative teams look good on paper, now that they're listed....

The fact is, they're not at all swaying me with creative team announcements or calling everything Amazing. I am not feeling all gooey with exictement. (i must be getting too old...lol...i don't oooh and ahh...with what the media throws at me anymore and tells me i should like...lol...) I am still gonna try it out, but what it will come down to is the CONTENT, it's what they do to Pete and MJ and how they handle things. If it is all a forced botch job to break the marriage and push JQ's personal goals, it will not matter what they call their issues, or who is writing or drawing them.

And i am sadly still not sold on the fact of revolving creative teams...every week, month or whatever. I like having the same artist especially...it keeps me in the story easier that way.

It's good to be cautious, fn.

And yes, anyone pushing JQ's personal agenda (especially JQ) should die NOW.

Hmm, from the looks of some of the artwork, it seems like Spidey's life has returned back to "normal". This pic in particular has me wondering. http://media.comics.ign.com/media/740/740875/img_4749501.html

In the pic, peter's got his camera, does that mean he works for th bugle again? And that poster of jameson saying " masked menace". Hmm, mindwipe? Looks like it...

Im not clear on something; Those four creative teams...are they going to be trading off arcs from now on, or are we getting four entirely NEW creative teams after each of them finishes their turn...?

It sounds like they're switching off on arcs with a shared subplot, as they got about a year or a year and a half of stories planned out. That's as far as writers go, but it sounds like the art side is a little less hammered down as Bachalo stated that he's only on for 3 issues and then back to X-Men for whatever crossover is happening there.

Will have to see what happens with OMD, and even then, I might have to try the first arc, simply cuz of Slott and McNiven :o:dry:

I kinda liked "ARCS" at first....but now i think they're bringing down the comic industry as a whole...in many ways.

Everything now is too "ARC DRIVEN"....

Spidey comics (Amazing) would be more exciting to me personally if it was more an ongoing story like the olden days (and an annual thrown in to boot). Sure, some of those went on for more than one issue, some might have ongoing plots for some time...but overall...they were better when they didn't center around predetermined ARCS where one artist may be around for 3 issues and then gone, like Bachelo here soon will be.

Now, it's like they throw at us all this (empty) hype, for artist/writer announcements, but when you break it down....you're not really getting more "Amazing"....(tho they package it and sell it that way)...we're just getting more ARCS all "labeled" Amazing....that they coulda done these EXACT SAME arcs (tied them in JUST AS WELL) and called the sensational, friendly, nifty, or what-have you...if they wanted to...so it does feel very gimmicky. To divert our attention.

For me this is huge news.......Slott on a Spidey title is a god send and although I wasn't a huge fan of "Civil War" I did enjoy the art....

Guggenheim I know little about but what I have read I've enjoyed....The Wolverine Civil War crossover in my opinion was hands down the best Civil War crossover

I'd say the only downside on these teams is Bachalo....I can appreciate his art, but it's just not for me and imo not a great fit on Spider-man....

....regardless of everything else, Slott is on ASM proving beyond a shadow of a doubt, there is a comic god!!

I have PLENTY of doubts and gripes, which I have stated above...

But there IS a positive in this kind of schedule. I can read a complete arc inside of a month instead of having to wait several months to have it resolved. If it's good, I want to read it ASAP, and if it sucks, it's over sooner.

However, I may only like one team... I may not like over half the artists, and may not want to pick up what's being put out for months at a time. THAT sucks.

Dan Slott is a very great choice. JMS left. Another great choice. But I will miss Peter David a lot. And i'm afraid of Zeb Wells. He never was good with the continues. His stories funny, but it isn't enough a main title like Amazing.

Im going to miss Peter David too. It's funny, because i absolutely HATED Friendly Neighborhood when it started, but David got me to do a complete 360 on it pretty quick.

Me too. Peter David is some serious talent and was good in FNSM after that first weird story.

I'm sure i read on Newsrama, or somewhere else, that he would be taking photo's, just not for the Daily Bugle.

Dan Slott finally gets a Spider-man title to write??? Heh about damn time.

Also pretty excited about the artists onboard. McNiven and Larocca both doing Amazing Spider-man. I don't care for Larocca as much as I use to. Seems like his work has dropped just a bit, but even so...his art still rocks Imo. McNiven is just freaking amazing.

I still have my doubts about this whole "Amazing Spider-man three times a week" style that Marvel is taking, but those teams onboard have me VERY interested to see whats going to happen.

Yeh...i'm interested in seeing what the storyline will be too.

I'm curious as to who will take the "dirt nap".

I'm interested in what "the final resolution in the marriage controversy" will be, according to JQ. I am hoping that it'll be a solidification of Pete and MJ and what they mean to each other, with writers who can handle and WANT to handle a marriage as beauitfully as it can and could be.

You know, the one thing I've stated over and over again is that....I don't understand why Joey Q perceives the marriage as being whats wrong with Spider-man comics. The "Marriage" had nothing to do with the Unmasking, Sins Past or The Other. Those are just bad Spider-man stories or ideas. Case closed.

Damn I really hope that Peter and MJ stay together.

Exactly.

HE was responsible for some really BAD stories, so what does he do? Create a controversy... classic deflection and blame shifting. I just can't believe he thinks anyone is going to fall for it.

Mcnivens art is beautiful. looking forward to that. Can't wait for this.

I'll miss Straczynski when he leaves. I love just about everything he did with Spider-Man with exception to that awful Harry Osborn/Gwen nonsense. With that said, I hope Pete and Mary Jane stick together.
