Amazing Spider-Man teams REVEALED!!!

I am very pleased about the Slott/McNiven team......but I think this three issues a month alternating between 4 different sotry arcs thing is stupid as hell.

I'll be picking up all the Slott issues......but the whole thing is silly and wierd.

How is it any different than what we have now? Other than the fact that it comes out at a greater frequency, it's the same.

It's the same thing as before, different writers handling different arcs....except they'll ALL be writing their comics with the word AMAZING on the cover.

They could've assigned these teams to Sensational and FNSM and it'd be just the same, if they had wanted to correlate better between the books, they could've. I remember times when Web and Spectacular all had sotrylines that interlapped and kept the continuity of the others. So it IS do-able. Marvel HAS done that.

They'll be relaunching Amazing back into other named books in a year +/-

That'll give them new #1's to market....once the "thrill" of Amazing 3X slows down and creative teams leave after their ARCS and it gets harder and harder for MArvel to one-up themselves in creative team announcements for their next "ARCS" of Amazing.

That all being said, it could be good to see Slott on Spidey. However, i hope it will be HIS writing, and not too much of JQ's forced "input" to destroy the marriage no matter what and keep it destroyed.

Spidey regaining his secret identity does need to happen tho. Retconning of a few other things here & there would be nice too. Having a mindwiped MJ walking around clueless not realizing she is married, and becoming a superhero to boot, is NOT gonna earn my money regardless of who draws it or what title they slap on the cover.

I just wish DeFaulco was on one of the teams, but Slott more than makes up for that.

Okay....I was unaware that the other Spidey titles were getting shut down.

Marvel is cancelling the other Spider-Man titles because Sensational and Friendly Neighborhood are selling nowhere near as good as Amazing and they want to get the people like me who buy only one Spider-Man title to buy it three times a month. Considering that I already buy Amazing and the awesome creative teams involved, not only consider me a customer to continue on with Amazing, but consider me very excited be reading Spider-Man more than once a month.

Also on a personal note, I think Spider-Man only deserves one title and I'd like to see his identity remain public for quite a while. It would feel extremely cheap just to get rid of something that hasn't been around for a long time.

******ed logic. If Slott and McNiven were on Friendly, you wouldn't buy it? Please...:whatever:

It's more about the feeling by the fans and the creators that those books don't count. ASM is the book that has always taken the lead in determining where Peter's life is going and the types of stories the other, lesser books can tell.

You get a creative team like Slott/McNiven on one of the "lesser" books, I think the message fans will get is, hey, they're making these books matter. But that's just me being crazy and not buying the whole marketing gimmick of having one Spider-Man book.

I didn't say a thrice monthly book is the best solution, but that doesn't change the fact that any Spider-book other than ASM is considered second tier.

I would probably buy it but drop it once their run is over, just like I'm doing with Action Comics once Donner is done.

Agreed. If anything this change up is an insult to Slott's status as a A-list writer.

I feel old... I remember the days when it was just "Amazing Spider-Man and Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man"

It would be insulting...if Slott was considered A-list.

Yeah, Slott isn't really considered A-list, yet. His current work is damn good though and if he does a good job on Amazing which I think he definately will then that should change soon enough.

Personally I think this idea has some potential and if they can keep the continuity straight then questions like why is Pete in his black costume could have been answered first and a flow might be achieved. Just as likely to be @rappy too, but I believe in Slott.

Of the 8 names listed, I'm really only excited about Slott and McNiven. The others are serviceable, with Bachalo being the ass-end of the whole deal. I can live with it.

McNiven's artwork is, of course, going to be flawlessly beautiful. That said, I'm most looking foward to Bachalo's issues. I love his Spider-Man.

I actually think that would be Jimenez really. From a Spider-Man "hater" to you.

I don't know. I looked up a lot of Jimenez' stuff and it looks good. hard to tell from just wallpapers or covers, though. But I know that Bachalo draws one confusing pile of goo.
