The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ASM2 the most under ratied CBM ever?

This movie can't be the most underrated because it just came out recently. Ask this same question again in a couple years.

I Wouldn't say the most underrated ever but it is ****ing underrated it deserves a higher score than ****ing 54% on RT

That's such a snobby, elitist attitude- As though you're sacrificing your dignity by watching a lowly "comic book movie". It's that pretentious attitude that still holds back the genre- that sci-fi and fantasy are somehow beneath straightforward drama, just because it's got costumes in it. But, people will believe whatever makes them feel like they're smarter.

Erm, I think the Ebert comment is a compliment rather than an insult. The movie is dense and layered but the GA were expecting Hulk Smash! Therefore people who would truly appreciate the complexity are unlikely to ever watch the movie. That's how I took the quote anyway.

If this movie is underrated then so is Schumacher's Batman ones heh.

I hate both Schumacher movies. To be honest I'm not fond of any pre Nolan Batman. I loved ASM2 so as far as I'm concerned they are nothing alike unless all movies with brightly coloured characters are alike.

I think it's getting more negative responses than I would have expected, but it is a little to early to say for sure.

There isn't one that you liked that you thought wasn't appreciate or trashed? or one that you didn't like that people overhyped or overrated?

No not really. I liked MOS and TASM2 more than SM2. I still don't think either are underrated or overrated.

5th viewing and I love the movie (ASM2) as much as my first viewing as apposed to hating the movie right out the gate like other 'bad' movies. Each to their own but I love this movie and the RT hasn't changed my mind. Is it underrated? Only time will tell.

It's only been out for a few days, so it's impossible to call in underrated. I'm shocked that the scores are so low though. We'll see how it does after a couple of years and another Spider Man movie comes out.

MoS was given a rough ride on RT. I actually saw MoS 4 times at the cinema, to be honest I hate the ending but I really like acts 2 and 3.
I much prefer ASM2 to MoS thought as I enjoyed every single minute of the movie (with maybe the final 2 minutes with the Rhino).

I look at RT score for ASM2 and MoS and then look at the RT scores for a host of superhero movies and laugh because there are CBMS that have RT scores in the 60s, 70's and 80's that I don't that are all that.

More of a social observation than a compliment. He's still putting a negative connotation on comic book films and those that would enjoy them. Also, I was speaking more to that sort of ideology than to the actual comment himself.

I like the movie but I know people that detest it. They were expecting one thing and were given something completely different to what they were expecting. I also like the new Hulk but if push came to shove I would choose Ang Lee's Hulk.
