Assasins Creed

I think the problem is that he just wants it to be another RPG where you have 5,000 weapons to choose from and a million different customs to pretty your character up with.

Regardless of the fact that it is an action/adventure game, not a RPG.
nice try but I dont even like RPGs with the FF series being an exception that I discovered with FFX

This wasn't my experience. If I ever mashed the X button, I ended up getting struck a few times with an opponent's blade. The combat required a bit more finesse than you give it credit for. If you just went in gung-ho and didn't time what you did, it ended up with your health draining to nothing.
Guess I was lucky then, bc mashing the button almost always worked and oppurtunities for counter attacks were easy to spot a mile away

That pretty much solidifies the extent of your delusion. FF10 was, quite handily, the worst of the series. Not to say that there aren't RPGs much better than that series... interesting, too, that you rag on the combat of Assassin's Creed when JRPG combat as a whole is completely linear. It's the same old song and dance over and over again until you hit the end of the game.

FFX may or may not be the worst of the series; I wouldnt know as Ive only played the PS2 titles and none before. And you are comparing apples to oranges here. An rpg vs an action game. The gameplay of the 2 cant really be compared. And my issues with AC have NOTHING to do with the combat. I have commented on the game but have never once complained about the combat. You just picked apart one thing I said that could be improved in the sequel. I was absolutely fine with the combat here but commented that it could be improved upon in a future game and it can bc theres always room for improvement. And Im delusional, bc I dont find AC to be the perfect 10/10 that people proclaim? Okkaaaay buddy

for me, Id like to see more variety. Like he said, it was pretty much the SAME thing 8-9 times with each assasination. I hope that each assasination doesnt follow the same exact formula. Switch it up and make the build up to them unique.

The combat needs some work. It was pretty much a button masher. Id like it if it werent so simplistic and a bit more layers to it. With that, also add in different weapons. 1 weapon for combat got old fast.

Give some sort of incentive for collecting the flags. 360 had achievements but that really wasnt much. Tie it in with extras, different costumes, skins, features, etc... Reward the player for the work put in finding them

Oh and get rid of the beggars/******s that roam the streets. Those 2 were BEYOND annoying

I certainly didn't find it to be a button masher either. It was much more dependent on proper timing then anything. As far as having to do the same thing 7-8 times, I was kind of hoping for some more detail. Do you have any specific things you'd like to see included? I'm really just kinda curious as to what you think they could add to make it less repetitive. As far as the beggars and ******s, all you had to do was grab them and shove their asses.

Usually calling a game a button masher is a sign of distaste for it. At least, this is the impression I get from most who label a game as such. I was merely stating that if you didn't like the combat (which is the air I received) but enjoyed that of the FF series, you are delusional.

:o

I would guess? Though, usually when you don't like certain things that are staples of other genres, you don't enjoy those genres either. At least, that's how it works for me.

Didn't I say this game was going to make House Party look like House Party 2?

The game is super uber awesome, let's move on

The following people I've quoted can go to hell.

I finished this game the other night. It was a good rental, but I'm glad I didn't buy it. The acrobatic gameplay mechanic and the graphics definately felt AAA, and the plot was very cool, like something out of a high-concept sci-fi novel. But the actual game structure felt really lame. You were literally doing the exact same mission 8 times in a row, and when you were finally done, the game was over. It was like playing the demo for a game 8 times in a row. Once you finished the first mission, you'd already seen everything the game has to offer, and after that, wether or not you have fun depends entirely on how long you can repeat that mission before you get bored. And the ending-- or lack thereof-- was crap.

Hopefully this game gets a very well done sequel. But if Assassin's Creed 2 is nothing but more of the same-- which would be VERY redundant given the nature of the first game-- I would be very, very dissapointed.
The ending was brilliant. I guess you were looking forward to a two-hour CGI movie about Altair falling in love with some woman instead of being given something to actually think about.

To play the game, all you have to do is keep pressing the attack button (Square on the PS3) and when you see a guy about to attack you, press that with the R1 button to counter. You can get through the whole game doing just that. There were no combos or complex moves. It was a matter of simply pressing the attack button and counter when applicable. There wasnt much variety here

The knives were used for projectile kills. They were useless to switch to in the middle of fighting face to face. The Long sword/Short blade was pretty much the same thing. There wasnt much difference in how you used them except for maybe different animations
Yeah, because this game was clearly meant to be a hack-and-slash game. Sorry, but the game's sword fighting is handled about as realistically as you can get in gaming. Nobody fights like Ryu Hayabusa in real life.

I don't know what reviewers were thinking. This game was definitely GOTY quality. I still love popping it in and running around the amazing cities. Yeah the game was repetitive, but so is pretty much every game. This game has so much more going for it than the "bad" side missions (Which I enjoy). This is really the first game that feels Next-Gen to me. It's awe-inspiring when you're in a heated chase along the rooftops.

Anyone playing this game for gameplay variety over story content... needs to be "solved" if you catch my drift.

To be honest, Im really not sure how Id change it, but it definetly needs to be changed. Each memory block proceeded like this Go to new city -> Do at least 3 investigations -> Get target info from Assassins Bureau -> Kill target. They should somehow make that formula a bit less predictable. And within that, there were only a few investigation types, so you were constantly doing the same thing over and over again. And this isnt even touching the side missions such as the save civilian, which were all over the place and all the same. I stopped doing this after the first few, since there really wasnt much incentive to do so.

well the combat of FF was certainly deeper and contained alot more variety adn options and involved actual strategy. AC was very simple compared to that. BUT that wasnt the draw had to either game. Like I said, my main issues with hte title was the repetitveness of each memory block. Switching up the combat was just one suggestion for a sequel.

Yes bc anyone that has their own opinion and does not conform to the majority here must be dealt with.

haha, just wait till you encounter the beggars and ******s. You will be wishing to see the Templars. Those 2 should get vote for most annoying NPC in a videogame this year
