Assassin's Creed - Part 1

I have been a big fan of the video game, but let me be a bit clear on that; the original one, and the 2nd one. to me, it went downhill fast with and after the 3rd one. It lost all it's 'oumph' somehow and to me, turned into 'any video game'.

the more i see of this movie stuff, hte more i hate it.

I'll be harsh; i think Fassbender is a great actor but a completely, and utter completely WRONG casting for this character. Meanwhile, the movie is trying too hard. It feels nothing but a tomb raider-esque 'moviefication'. I don't like what it looks like they're doing to the story, i hate that 'glados' like arm even more, and its just alltogether way too much 'look at the effects we can put in this movie'.

It looks fake, unreal, and really unexciting.

I hate it when hollywood does a milkcow action on a already milked dry to the bone video game.

And yes, the pop track on the trailer is even worse.

The footage and what I can make out looks like it could be really good. Modern day stuff included. The action is exactly what I wanted from an Assassin's Creed film. And visually I love the cinematography of the film and color grading. Almost as striking as Justin's Macbeth film.

My only complaint is one again the trailer editing and that god awful pop song was absolute ****. Seriously, whoever is in charge of this film's marketing needs to be demoted or bumped to another project because they are not a good fit with this film. This trailer absolutely reeks of desperation. You can practically hear the trailer begging for teens to think its ooohhh so cool and "hip".

Movies this year have been mostly disappointing for me, I don't really expect this movie to break the mold.
I'll still watch it, and hope that I can at least enjoy it.

I think the movie looks like a way more expensive version of an Underworld or Resident Evil movie. If the film is good then shame on Fox for botching the marketing.

Looks decent. Still not sure I'll check this out in the theater

Agreed. That music has to go.

Someone just explain something to me. Are his gauntlets in the Animus de-knifed or do they have the blades still attached. Because why would you hook a dangerous criminal up to an Animus to live out his Assassin heritage memories and then freaking give him his own set of hidden blades?

My other theory is that they are just sort of fake, dummy gauntlet attachments and meant to help him with the animus control like controllers for a video game. But they look like the real thing in the trailer.

Looks like it has blades. Dont even bother trying to figure out the logic of the film's animus. There is zero ****ing reason for him to have any assassin gear on while attached to the animus. Him flailing around stabbing at air with sharpened blades cant effect anything in his memories. The entire experience is happening inside his own genetic memory. The animus design in the film is much more dynamic than the video game version of the animus, but it doesnt make a bit of sense.

I mean what if his ancestor is living out going to the bathroom or getting jiggy? Is he going to act out those motions too? :D

I'm no longer sold on this. It's almost as if it's embarrassed about the source material.

:hehe: There's been nore than a few jokes about that. If Aguilar hooked up with the lady assassin Callum will be in the Animus humping air.:funny: And God forbid if somewhere in Callum's memory is Aguilar having dysentery. The Abstergo janitors would need hazard pay for the cleanup.

Read some other comments around the internet someone brought up a really valid point with regards to there being so much modern day stuff in this film. Whilst the past is where the action is there's not going to be as much drama available to the writers as there would be in the present day setting for a movie. Like a prequel we know already by virtue of Fassbender's present day character being alive that his ancestor is going to survive no matter what takes place in the past. This is why I think there's a lack of this movie feeling like an Assassin's Creed story, because film has to follow certain story telling rules that games do not have to contend with. This again brings up the argument that the two mediums are incompatible. Based off these trailers and the marketing I think we're going to get a movie that really has no choice but to ignore a lot about what people like about the games in order for it to work as a film.

Survives OR he spreads his seed around Spain ;) . Like Alexander the Great and such as that guy in My Big Fat Greek Wedding would say.

The marketing has been bad for this movie. And the awful release date doesn't help it's cause either.

Based on this trailer there will be quite a bit of action in the present day scenes. My guess is still that the climax will be Callum and others breaking out of Abstergo.

And Callum being alive does not guarantee Aguilar survives. He could have had offspring before the time of the memories Callum is exploring. Or he could hook up with the female assassin during the memories and die at some point.

Regardless, I'm curious to see how this turns out. Even Warcraft had its moments, despite being a hot mess.

I don't like the trailer much but I feel like the movie is going to be good. The director, the leads, and the footage all give me faith. The animus being different works for me it's a far more realistic approach to learning physical skills through VR.

The Critics will hate this movie like they hate Warcraft , thats why i think the Movie will sadly Flop because Random People are too stupid or limited in their own opinion.
For me i can't wait to see this movie , because i m a fan from the Games since day one , and for the people who pissed about the Pop Songs , remember its from Ubisoft and in every Ubisoft Game is a pop or Hip Hop Song and that will never change not even in the Movies

Videogame movies are notoriously awful. Don't blame critics for that, blame Hollywood.

No, this movie will flop and be 'hated' because it's simply a flop and stupid only to fill fox exec pockets, and feed upon the sensitive little fanboi's who can't handle any critisism, even when it's 100% in it's place, and explode like a egg too long in the microwave and spew it's trash in all directions only making it a absolute mess.

Kind of like how Raimi Spider-Man and Nolan Batman ushered the start of the golden age of CBMs, I think if AC is good, as well as the Vikander Tomb Raider, this might start the trend of better game adaptions, bringing in more credible directors and talent.
