    Happy Halloween, Guest!

Ubisoft Assassin's Creed Red

Trailer was neat, but im so unsure about it.
Yasuke is cool and Naoe is a ninja, but i was hoping for more Tenchu and less Samurai.
The Samurai setting is at this point just overcrowded, so i was hoping we get just full blown ninja stuff.
I will of course wait for gameplay, but i feel at the moment like skipping this game.

Im super unsure because the idea of playing with Yasuke...some big samurai dude...sounds cool on one hand.
However, in the last few years we got too many samurai games and im not really a huge samurai fan.
But its an Assassins Creed game, so it probably will play fun.

We will see, im waiting for actual gameplay.

Man this looks very excited. Super keen for Yasuke, he's such an interesting historical figure. But also very intrigued about this dual protagonist set up. I really like the idea of each character specialising in a different fighting and play style. Curious to see how deep the Shinobi gameplay goes for Naoe.

Also the racist online reaction to Yasuke is predictable but still disappointing. *SIGH*

And happy that Ubisoft bringing back the background theme from Odyssey...makes it part of the same and larger universe with the previous AC titles

I hope you're not talking about the bit when the "Ezio's Family" theme starts playing... That predates Odyssey! (But also maybe there's different Odyssey music I missed?)

I think this looks really cool! I’m looking forward to giving it a go once it’s all patched

The Japanese dubbed version

When the first game came out all those years ago now it seemed like Feudal Japan was the perfect era to have assassins and the like in it, seems to have been a long time to get to it and I have kind of lost interest in the AC world and the whole Ubisoft company policies and style of game making is just so *yuck* compared to others.

This might tempt me back but need to see gameplay first and will wait to see how pricing is, not bothering with season passes and all that nonsense.

The anti-woke mob is having a hernia again?

That samurai is literally based on a real historical person.

Yasuke was real historical figure, indeed...but he was not a samurai, according to historical text, Oda Nobunaga picked him as his retainer just because he was fascinated by Yasuke's physique, but Yasuke himself was never considered and treated as a samurai among Oda's military ranks.

I think thats why the reaction to this trailer are mixed here in Japan as well, because by choosing a black person (eventhough he is based on the real historical figure) instead of native Japanese protagonist, many felt that Ubisoft has appropriated the history and culture of Japan.

For me though...as a AC fan, I don't really mind the choosing of Yasuke as protagonist, as long as the game is good (I am sure it will) and as long as I get to choose to play as Naoe as long as I want haha😆

for Naoe, I am thrilled that she is based from the legendary Iga ninja clan, and looking of Ubisoft's history by blending fantasy element and real historic event in their games, I hope we can see the rise of Iga clan, their legendary rivalry with Koga clan, and how they eventually serve Tokugawa clan later on the Battle of Sekigahara (although the year and the setting of the game is still decades away from that event)

Ooh I didnt know that😅
because tbh I've never played the Ezio era of AC titles before🫣, my first AC title that I have ever played was AC 3...so pardon my lack of knowledge that the theme is actually predates Odyssey, haha

Hardcore Hernia it seems.
Like, they literally try to argue that Yasuke wasnt a 100% Samurai to justify what is just simple racism.
So much that even Japanese people get annoyed at them, when most Japanese are happy about the character being in the game.

Its complete insanity how this mob is jumping through millions of rings, trying to hide the fact that they simply dont want a Black Character play a big role in a big game.
They literally act like Naoe doesnt exist when she is front and center...its that insane.

For those that play on PC, here are the system requirements:

Still feels surreal that they are doing Japan despite them saying several times that they won't feature Japan as a location because its featured in so many games, in which I understood. Then for Hexe, it would be Germany which would be new to me.

I wonder if they will eventually use China, Russia and India in the main games as the main location. Those three were featured in the 2d game Chronicles, and China is featured in the mobile game Jade. But I skipped Chronicles and I have no interest in a mobile game.

I also want to see Mongolia, Spain (which was featured in the live action movie), a country in South America (which I don't think they have visited that continent yet) and somewhere really unexpected and we don't see in open world videogames.

Asia
Israel - I
Syria - I
Turkey - Revelations
Iraq - Mirage
Japan - Shadows

Europe
Italy - II, Brotherhood
Portugal - Rogue (mission)
France - Unity, Valhalla (dlc)
UK - Syndicate, Valhalla
Greece - Odyssey
Norway - Valhalla
Ireland - Valhalla (dlc)

North America
America - III, Rogue
Cuba - Black Flag
Jamaica - Black Flag
Bahamas - Black Flag
Haiti - Black Flag
Canada - Rogue, Valhalla (Vinland?)

Africa
Egypt - Origins

Did they say that? I cant Remember.
But Japan was only recently this much Featured, so it must be a recent thing.
I always assumed Japan is a sure place they would go considering how many fans for years wanted a AC in Japan.
Hexe in Germany would really cool.

I might be wrong but i feel like i heard Ubisoft once say that they dont want to repeat locations after having used them.
So i could see them not using Locations they have used for Mobile or so games in their big AAA ones.

Aren't most Yakuza games set in Japan? Also, Onimusha, Sekiro, Ghost of Tsushima, Ghostwire Tokyo and Rise of the Ronin.

But the Yakuza games for the most part are modern day and not sword and bow.
This was 2020, were there really that many games that took place in old times Japan around that time?
Either way, now there will be an AC game in feudal japan, so thinks worked out in the end.

That IGN article I posted was from 2014. And the person from Ubisoft, stated Feudal Japan would feel too familiar. Japan is one of the most featured countries in videogames regardless of the genre/time period.

Hmmm. Origins feels quite small compare to Odyssey.

Though I can't remember how much larger Valhalla's map is compare to Origins.

No naval activity I'm assuming, with being in the shadows. :ninja:

When you see comments saying Ubisoft created Yasuke for the game.

Was just thinking about Spain, most definitely the setting I want to see next.

For Odyssey they oddly acted like Ubisoft made Ancient Greece very queer friendly and oriented rather than it already being so.

For Valhalla they complained about there being strong viking women and claimed the culture didn’t emphasize strong women… completely overlooking that the Valkyrie literally exist in Norse mythology.

As with them trying to act like they know the source material while they actually don’t, they try to fake that they are historical scholars too when it is very evident that they aren’t.

If it wouldnt be so sad, the whole thing might be funny.
Since the Shadows trailer hit, the insanity of these people reached new levels.

They tried to argue about the translation of what Samurai means to show that Yasuke wasnt one to the point actual japanese people had to speak out and tell them to shut up.
You got people like Melonie Mac scream "erasure of Japanese man" when the trailer has 98% japanese men.
They literally ignore Naoe and say that the game only lets you play as a black guy.

The most recent nonsense is them actually going into the japanese trailer of the game to dislike it and comment on it.
And as you probably can assume, in bad japanese that is very obvious.

Its utterly pathetic and just because the game lets you play as a Black Person.
