I'm not surprised, nor am I disappointed. Time to bring all they can on the new consoles.

Well c'mon, it's going to be two years since the next gen consoles launched.

I am surprised they're making a game just for the old consoles, but then they have designing for those consoles down to a science after half a dozen games.

Any game they say is exclusive to the older gen consoles will eventually make their way to the next gen. I would get an Xbox One but I love my older games and it's annoying to have to start a game collection all over again.

Well, that's just the cost of business with new consoles. This last generation lasted way too long IMO, and it shows with the sales of the new consoles so far. People are ready to move on, and so should developers. No more of this "cross-gen" development.

Sorry if this is a noob question, I don't know as much about Unity as I'd like to (only watched the trailers, a couple previews).

Did they change Arno's outfit from when we first saw him in the debut CGI trailer?

Because this

Looks kind of different than this

I could be wrong, but it seems like they changed the torso area. I like the way he looked in the CGI trailer. Looks a bit too "fancy" now, but still great. Also, what's the consensus about Arno from what we've seen so far?

Should I expect another great, like Ezio or Edward? Or is he going to be another disappointment like Connor? I really don't know anything about this guy.

Yea they could have, or maybe you can alter your gear. They've said this will be much more customizable than previous AC games.

As for Arno, who knows at this point. We've seen so little of him and his story. It'll be interesting because if im not mistaken, he's not a real Assassin. He's hired by the assassins. So idk.

Really? I hadn't heard that before. Interesting...

Although, it begs the question of why he'd be better than the Assassins themselves at getting the job done.

I was hoping for a "real" Assassin like Ezio this time around after we got Edward, who was really just a pirate.

Well I think thats what I have read. Im not 100%. I could be way off.

Edit*

Yep i was wrong, he joins the Assassins after his Templar surrogate father was killed. But Arnos real father was an Assassin, so it runs in the family.

Apparently Arno never truly buys into the Creed though, he's constantly questioning their actions.

Heres what I found:

Seems like he's gonna be an interesting character.

Cool, thanks. I just want another AC2 level masterpiece. AC3 was still good, and Black Flag was an awesome game. But when I think of Assassins Creed, it's AC2.

Just the score gives me chills.

This. Couldn't agree more. I feel the exact same way. Every title I've played just doesn't compare to AC2. It's the best in the series.

Agreed. It's time to move on.
Also agree. We are in a new generation, time all games reflect this.

I like AC2 a lot, but Black Flag is a better game in pretty much every way.

I'd love a strong love story. The small bits of Altair/Maria, Ezio/Sofia, and Edward/Mary are some of my favorite of the series.

Mechanically, technically, from a gameplay standpoint, Black Flag is far superior. It's also the most downright fun game of the AC franchise, imo. An excellent entry, no doubt.

But it doesn't touch AC2 in terms of atmosphere, imo. The story, the emotion, the score, the setting, and the overall immersion is just unmatched. Sailing all over the Caribbean was sweet, it doesn't surpass running over the rooftops of Florence and Venice. And while Edward was solid, he's no Ezio Auditore Da Firenze.

Just listen to this...nothing has even come close since AC2.

Again, Black Flag was an awesome game and I absolutely loved it. One could make the case that it's AC's best game. But I hope Unity goes back to AC's roots. Rogue looks like a true successor to Black Flag, and I hope Unity is in the same vein as AC2.

Assassin's Creed: Unity devs answer the question, 'why co-op?'

According to Ubisoft's developers, the co-operative multiplayer found in Assassin's Creed: Unity was a chance to do something new that still felt wholly appropriate to series canon, but more crucially the devs also came to the undeniable conclusion that stealthy, acrobatic murder is greatly... there was already an article from another site put up in this thread way earlier that said it was optional o a selectable way and for only for certain parts. Most of the main story campaign is solo.

I wonder if we'll see the Napoleonic Wars, or if the game will stop just short of that.

The Napoleonic Wars started 1803. This game starts 10 years before in 1793 during the Reign of Terror. The previous games have covered that amount of time so it's possible that we could see the Napoleonic Wars start at least.

Since the fall of Robespierre is the last great event they've focused on, I figure that Napoleon officially entering the ranks of the Templars and acquiring the Apple of Eden may be the sequel hook they stick in the story towards the end. I figure Robespierre is either a Templar (if the game's going to demonise him) or as the Assassin's leader (for a bit more even handed tale and to explain how Arno may have problems with some Assassin decisions) and he becomes the main antagonist, forcing Arno and Elise to make their alliance far more serious than just an agreement between the two of them not to kill each other.

And since the title Unity almost certainly has some meaning, I could see the French Assassin and Templar remnants unifying behind Arno and Elise, with one of them assisting Napoleon in acquiring the Apple to defend France against the coalitions. Then of course the next game features another fracture with the Assassins against Napoleon.

The Napoleonic Wars are certainly big enough to warrant their own game.

Epic battles, naval warfare, political scheming, assassinations, etc. Some very colorful characters too.

No doubt. It would make a good sequel to this game. Those wars had over 100 battles and prevalent naval engagements and all of Europe was effected. It's a time period I had never considered for this franchise, but now that it's been brought up I really want to see one of the AC games cover it.

Getting to fight in the Battle of Trafalgar with Lord Nelson would be cool as hell.
