Yea I saw that same thing, so im hoping they explore just why Haytham is a Templar being that Edward was an assassin. Maybe the Assassins screwed over Edward and Haytham vowed revenge or something.

Yea im sure they'll port it at some point. They have to.

The official reason Haythem was a Templar instead of an Assassin is because Edward was murdered and Jenny kidnapped in a house invasion, while Haythem was still young and the family lived in England. Haythem was then taken in and tutored by Simon Birch, the Templar who gives him orders in the theatre at the start of Assassins Creed III. Haythem had received preliminary training and philosophy from Edward, but Birch successfully indoctrinated him into the Templar cause, and Haythem stole his hidden blade in nan early encounter with the first man we see him assassinate in the game. Haythem then (re)founds the New World Templars as we saw him do so in the first part of III.

This is when Rogue takes place, so if they're consistent, we'll see the more focused and subtle Haythem from earlier. However, after the Seven Years War, Haythem finds out where Jenny is, rescues her, finds out the Birch was behind the home invasion, and in a reflection of the American Revolutionary War, slaughters Birch and his men before returning to shape a new Templar Order with some Assassin philosophy. That's another reason he's so intent on converting Connor while still being a ruthless SOB, as well as an explanation for why his Templar branch is so unfocused and chaotic in comparison to their other peers. His thought before the final battle suggest he mostly just stubbornly stuck to what he'd been his entire adult life even though he knew that Connor's Assassins branch was arguably more focused and moral than his Templars.

Rogue does imply one thing about Unity, and that's that if there is a divergent French Templar branch, they have been at war with the English branch as well. Theoretically, this could mean that we'll see even more infighting among the Templars.

Thanks for the video Vile

And
Ubisoft promises to do better by PC gamers

at 16:16 on 14 August 2014

Ubisoft's relationship with PC gamers has been strained for years. Always-on DRM, last-minute delays of PC releases, its insistence on uPlay and CEO Yves Guillemot's stated belief that nine out of ten PC gamers are filthy pirates have collectively made it a difficult publisher to love. But it promises that things are different now.

I really like controlled descent.

The Black Box zones look interesting. It just depends on how effective they work in practice, same thing with the Nemesis System for Shadow of Mordor.

Where did all that come from? Was there a comic or book that explained that?

Listening to the hints of the ACII theme in Unity, as well as including the connection to Haytham as godisawesome explained, I can't help but feel like the recent games are finally being connected to the first few (Ezio) games and in a way, they are coming full circle. Of course, this was naturally bound to happen since they went so far into the future and then went back.

This is absolutely exquisite. Most beautiful game I've ever seen; Ubi has definitely raised the bar. Despite the talk of gamer fatigue on the series in recent years, I think Unity will be on an entirely new plane, and almost a lock for almost everyone's GOTY. Cannot wait for this.

You should see the gameplay video Vile put up two as well.

I did. Absolutely *love* how freeform that mission in particular is....there'll be so many different ways to approach and execute. And Notre Dame is a damn masterpiece....my jaw drops every time I look at this.

Notre Dame seems like a guaranteed spot for an Assassin vs Assassin duel, if a schism between the members is coming. And they're hinting more and more that Elise and Arno are outliers of their respective factions; Arno is expressing doubts about some aspects of the Assassins, and Elise is explicitly worried about the state of the Templar order and it's new controllers. The title Unity is looking like an explicit acknowledgement of their alliance above all else.

And I really hope they don't try and have the entire French Revolution be orchestrated by the Templars or Assassins. They managed to avoid that with the American Revolution in III by making it clear that everyone's thrown off by the chaos around them, and something as epic and schizophrenic as the French Revolution deserves to be played as a ball game for which both groups are massively out of their league. Napoleon seems a prime candidate for a Templar antagonist, but even he couldn't really control the situation. I want to see internecine conflict all over the place, full of Assassins hunting Assassins, Templars annihilating Templars, and a whole bunch of characters lost and befuddled by all the anarchy, idealism, powers and freedoms they're suddenly surrounded by.

Excellent points. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that "Unity" actually refers to a temporary unholy alliance of Templars and Assassins against a larger enemy, even if that enemy is an abstract, like anarchy.

And I've been wondering how far into the Revolutionary cycle the story unfolds....will we see the rise of Napoleon? I'd definitely expect to see at least a cameo, but a sequel set during the Napoleonic Wars is a no-brainer. Imagine how epic and global in scale that story could be --- not only Paris revisited, but also great battlefields like Austerlitz, Borodino and Waterloo, exploring the Pyramids and Egyptian ruins with Champollion to uncover the ancient roots of Assassins and Templars, the extension of the wars to America with the Battle of New Orleans (did Aveline's order of Assassins survive?) and the burning of Washington, helping Simon Bolivar fight the wars of independence in South America....

...there are so many places they can take Arno's story during this era. I predict that it will be considered a watershed moment in the Assassin-Templar wars, and Arno's role in it may prove to be far bigger and more important than anything that Altair, Ezio, or the Kenways contributed to either cause.

The game's confirmed to include the years from the start of the revolution to the Great Terror, with the latest date and events featured focusing on the Fall of Robespierre, complete with the Incorruptible being placed face up in the guillotine with his face bandage ripped off. Napoleon's real rise was years after that, but I could easily see his rise to head of a new Templar faction being focused on, since he's supposed to have his Apple of Eden by the time he crowns himself emperor.

Since Rogue's supposed to officially end the Kenway saga, maybe we'll see Connor's successor in the War of 1812.

Since Ezio had a trilogy, and the Kenways appear to have a trilogy (3, 4, Rogue --- although, chronologically, it's 4, Rogue, 3 :P ), then hopefully Arno is starting a new trilogy, too. Dunno if a Napoleonic Era AC would still have Arno in the lead, or if we'll see him and Elise have a son/daughter. He/she would necessarily be comparatively young, but I suppose we could see them grow up to their early 20s like we did with Connor.

Assassin's Creed doubles down on stealth and sailing in 2014

The Assassin's Creed franchise has an established, successful record of major annualized releases, but hooded prowlers will have two notable targets this year: Assassin's Creed Rogue, which will sail chilled seas on the Xbox 360 and PS3, and Assassin's Creed Unity, a return to scaling European cityscapes on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Just because Ubisoft can add two major adventures to the series' anthology within the same year doesn't mean you have time for both however, so Editor-In-Chief Ludwig Kietzmann and Contributing Editor Sinan Kubba exchanged thoughts to help you get a sense of which may better suit your interests.

If your interest is particularly piqued by Unity, you can watch a full assassination mission within its take on the French Revolution, led by Creative Director Alex Amancio. Of course, you could always trade in your wrist blades for dice.

My awesome coworkers preordered the CE for my birthday this weekend and I preordered the PS4 Destiny bundle yesterday because I need a new system. My gf is going to hate me this winter.

Hard to believe the games NEVER had a crouching feature before this game.

Ubisoft Dropping PS3 and 360 in 2015

It looks like the PS3 and Xbox 360's days are numbered at Ubisoft. Speaking with Game Informer, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that they will probably stop releasing games for the last-gen systems in 2015. He says they're sticking with the PS3 and 360 this year with games like Assassin’s Creed Rogue because they’re still in demand, but thanks to the rapid sales of the PS4 and Xbox One, all of their studios will make the switch next year. Other publishers have made similar plans, so gamers everywhere will need to upgrade their hardware soon if they haven’t already. As for the Wii U, Guillemot has confirmed that both of this year’s new Assassin’s Creed games will not be coming to the Nintendo console. He says that the previous games didn’t sell well enough on the system, but unlike some other publishers, they’re not going to abandon it. Ubisoft plans to release more party-style games like Just Dance 2015 on the Wii U, because Guillemot says that those kind of game’s are most popular on the console. He also says that the Wii U version of Watch Dogs is still on the way, despite rumours of its cancellation.
