Yeah. It's insanely dumb.. They have an exclusive marketing deal with Microsoft and money talks. However what I don't understand is why other devs can get 1080 on the XB1 yet Unisofy can't? So they're greedy and lazy? Awesome.

I get the fact that some people don't care about resolution and FPS but this is deliberately holding one console back so the other doesn't look bad. Phil Spencer has stated in the past that he's sending teams out to devs to get them to make games on the zone 1080p. This parity BS better not continue.

Ubisoft is locking ACU at 900p 30fps to "avoid debated and stuff.."

Thats the stupidest thing ever if they really dropped the resolution on the PS4, just so it can match the X1. Just release the best versions possible and screw the debates

yeah. that's disappointing to hear.

and to come out and basically say they're keeping both consoles at a lower res to avoid debate is just a roundabout way of saying the X1 can't get to 1080p.

and I really hope this doesn't continue with other multiplat games like DAI. indeed, I'll be even more pissed if they do this with DAI. And EA has a closer relationship with MS, so now I wouldn't be surprised if that happened. :(

Id expect this with Evolve, Witcher 3 and the Division. All three have exclusive marketing deals on the X1.

IMHO a guy at GAF said it best with this...

The problem is not that it's not 1080p. No one would be whining if Ubi went and said "look, we tried, but 900p is all we can get with this new engine". Disappointed, but not pissed off.

They announced that they locked out the PS4 on 900p on purpose for the sake of parity. And that's ******** that shouldn't be supported.

didn't Witcher 3 devs say they're aiming for 1080p on PS4?

seriously, I hope this doesn't become a trend.........:cmad:

CRap.. DAI has exclusive marketing too...

I know......and now I'm getting nervous. :csad:

I'm still going to get DAI, though. but for a game like ACU, now I'm having 2nd thoughts about getting it right away.

Because it'll be in 900p? That's pretty stupid. You can NOT tell the difference between 900 and 1080 on anything less than like a 50 inch TV.

Wrong, you can't tell on anything smaller than 47-ish. Anyway I don't think that's what he means.. I could give a **** if a game is 900p if they tried for 1080 but didn't get it.. That's not the case here. Ubisoft is locking the game at 900p, more or less dumbing down the PS4 version and forcing parity. That could be an issue moving forward.

People are quick to blame MS but.. I'm not sure they are completely to blame. The X1 pushes 1080 in other games.. Is Ubisoft just being lazy here?

Most games aren't boasting the vast number of NPCs onscreen at a time that Unity is. I mean that's quite a technical feat, one that is likely to push the limitations of the hardware. I can easily see how having the game in 1080p on the X1 could lead to performance issues and why they might have to reduce the resolution to compensate for that

that's not entirely true. AC4 shipped with 900p and shortly after release, Ubisoft released a 1080p patch, upping the native resolution of the title. The difference was noticeable. With any luck we get another patch for Unity

Anyways Im with X in having second thoughts about Unity. Their reasoning for this is complete BS. It would be more accepting if they hadn't come out and said they did it to avoid debates bc if there were technical difficulties, that would be more understandable. I may wait till the game enters the used market and get it then unless something changes from now till then

it's not so much the 900p issue. again, I'd still get DAI even if the PS4 version is 900p. I'd still be disappointed if it's not 1080p on the PS4, and even more so if Bioware comes out and says they're locking both versions at 900p to achieve parity.

yeah. I'd be mad and disappointed. but I'd still get the game ( already got it paid off ) because I REALLY WANT to play DAI. as long as it looks good to me, I'm fine. my tv is 40" I think, so I probably wouldn't be able to tell much of a difference.

but with AC, I've never been that into the series. so, it's not an automatic must buy.

I was planning on getting it for Xmas if it's on sale on BF ( <$40 ). and I still might.

but it's certainly dropped down further on my priority list after those comments by the dev.

they're basically saying they're not even going to try to get max resolution for each system. and it's an indirect way of saying that the X1 version is holding the PS4 version back.

It's BS reasoning.

and I don't like this if it starts a trend with other Devs and other games. they have a hard time getting the X1 version to 1080p so they just say screw it, we'll make both versions the same at 900p.

as a PS4 owner, I don't want to see PS4 games start getting held back from their max potential because of the X1.

You know, I can agree with people saying that it's a little ridiculous for people to get angry about this.

But, really...how that Ubisoft producer could say something so stupid is enough for me to think it's deserves the heat. I mean, even if it's true...you don't say anything remotely like that. It sounds bad, ontop of already being a stupid thing to say. Because it does sound like they're going to gimp one version over another. And it's a stupid thing to say because everyone knows how people will react to an implication like that.

It's just such a stupid comment that I don't even think it's worth defending. Once again Ubisoft gets into trouble for having someone say something incredibly stupid. You've got to imagine that the PR people must be ripping their hair out in frustration with having to deal with people like this.

and ironically, the Ubisoft guy said he wanted to "avoid debate."

yet he just stirred up a whole nother ****storm.........lol.

Ubisoft really should stop talking to the press. Just make and release their good games. They seem to be clueless when it comes to what they should and shouldntsay

Microsoft should be pissed. They essentially shifted all the blame onto them.

Speaking of which, Ubisoft came out and said the reason that the Wii U wont be getting Unity is bc it isn't powerful enough to handle it.....yet that doesn't explain why Rogue wont be coming to it. This almost seems like they are backpedalling from their previous statement that the games just don't sell on the platform instead of now blaming it on the Wii U's limitations

Ubisoft, just stop talking

So I bought a PS4, and yet I have to deal with the XBox's limitations because...it wouldnt be fair to XBox gamers. What kind of PC gradeschool BS is this?

First I lose Tomb Raider to the Xbox and now Im losing quality, because the Xbox's hardware is anemic. Microsoft, if you cant keep up with the big boy then get out of the game.

at least Tomb Raider is only timed exclusive. :cwink:

hey, you want to share PSN IDs via PM?

I think the Wii U should just stick to quality 1st party titles. as these games become more technically advanced, the Wii U simply won't be able to keep up.

Eh close enough.

No, its all true, unless your eyes are bionic. They cant physically see the difference between 900 and 1080 if the television is of a certain size, which according to Bensta is anything under 47". You might THINK you can tell the difference, but you cant, unless your TV meets that level. I personally don't have a TV in my house over 42" and the TV i do all my gaming on is 32".

They're both to blame. Limitations prevent current gen games from running on it and its low sales prevent them from spending any dev time creating last gen games when the PS3 and 360 have sooo many more units in the wild. Ubisoft is already beginning to leave last gen behind, and that includes the Wii U.

At least one good thing about Ubisoft is that they take criticism seriously. AC4 was almost the polar opposite of AC3 in basically everything people disliked, and AC2 fixed everything wrong with AC1, and much more.

They've also made a female-led game, and after the backlash of not having a female Assassin in Unity, came out with the Elise trailer.

Hopefully they'll realize what a foolish move this is.
