for both consoles?

Probably. Most games release a patch early. Even though the game has gone gold, the developers don't just sit back and say, well thats it, we're done. They keep working up until its release(and then after). A game takes about 2-3 weeks for the printing/shipping process. Thats 2/3 weeks that devs still use to tweak their games.

I pre downloaded the Gold edition. Looking forward to that new little side story thats set in China. Seems to be an interesting concept.

And you know that even when and if streaming gets more popular studios will not release some end all be all future proof version of a film. You will buy the movie and then a year or two later a new better version will come out. And if you want it you will have to pay for it. That isn't going to change even if we switch entirely to streaming. Studios will always charge for each new release of a film. And they will never stop rereleasing films. So if we switch to an entirely streaming home video format within the life of 4K and you buy a 4K movie and then we go to 8K you will have to pay for the 8K release if you want it. They aren't just going to let you have anything for free. They can't release a 4K release that can just be switched to 8K when and if 8K tvs ever come out. It doesn't work like that. And even if it was possible no studio would do it, because it's an absolutely terrible business plan.

Frankly, you might as well get over it. It costs to have the latest in home video, and the studios and manufacturers have to make money so they can continue R&D on new tech. Blu-ray and 4K and even streaming are not the end all be all of home video. It will continue to upgrade and change throughout our lives and well beyond our lives. And you will have to rebuy your movie library many more times within your lifetime if you plan to stay current in home video. That's the way of it.

Now, I think we've derailed this thread long enough.

well yeah we could've stopped talking about this whenever but i don't think you sharing knowledge hurt the thread at all in any way. even if it is off topic, it's still video game related since we're talking blu ray discs and resolutions. you know

yeah when it's all said and done and i've got a full time job (god willing) i'll probably get over it. since i'm still a broke college student i'm in the mindset that this ain't right, lol

Pop in can be a result of HDD speed but its not the only reason. The new solid state drives on the market can access data insanely fast because they have no moving parts (they are basically massive USB drives) so they can make pop in is nearly non existent even on games that are known for excessive pop in (Rage Im lookin at you.) With the standard old disc drives howerer they have to spin up and it takes longer for the system to retrieve the data on the drive's disk. This can result in pop in. Both the X1 and PS4 have disc drives so some pop in will happen at a distance. Thats unavoidable and cant really be held against any console. Its just an inherent flaw of disc drives.*

However, this pop in is happening extremely...ridiculously close to the foreground. That means its a programming issue of the game and not a hardware problem.

*You may be asking why consoles dont switch to Solid State Drives. Well, the ones on the market have a serious flaw. They have a finite limit of data you can write on them. After that they die. Bricked. Gone. D.E.A.D. It varies depending on manufacturer. What this means is lets say you've got a 100gb SSD. Youve filled it up and emptied it and filled it up again. Thats known as a prpgram/erase cycle. After a certain number of program/erase cycles a SSD becomes very unreliable. And total failure becomes more and more likely with each cycle.

Now, idk the reason for this (involves a lot of technical jargon), but the long and short of it is these drives are not good for a console that needs its drive to last for 5+ years. SSD simply have too low of a cycle limit to be a viable option for consoles. Until this cycle limit problem is figured out (if it even can be fixed) no console will have a SSD. And there is the issue of cost. SSD are ridiculously expensive compared to HDDs.

I think cost and storage size is the biggest factor. Though I was not aware of all the writing stuff. That does make me reluctant to convert.

Still, given that the Xbone and PS4 use a fairly slow HDD, they can make fairly minor improvements just by upgrading.

the China story is part of the Season Pass? and that's the one where you play as a female Assassin?

So happy this is finally coming. My co-workers gifted me with a pre-order of the massive collectors box. No idea what I'm going to do with all that stuff but it looks cool!

Did anyone else get the email about the Unity event on Twitch from Ubisoft? If you RSVP to it they email you codes for the Master Assassin hood which boost your life, a Rapier and a gun as well. They will email you the DL codes on launch day

That's just one of many reasons why I'm sort of glad I left PC gaming...at least for games like this. (I mainly only play MMO's on PC now) Too many companies pulling crap like this and then the issues of poor optimization and other issues. I just got tired of it all. At least with the PS4 I can just pop a game in and start playing and KNOW it will run.

Keep in mind...this comes from someone who was a hardcore PC gamer for many, many years.

Thats pretty much why I stick with consoles, besides money. I don't have to worry about my system not having the right specs, or enough power. Just put in the game and play.

I haven't been follwing this game as closely as I have in the past with other AC games, but I've been watching part of IGN's livestream and I'm really loving what I see. I like how they added some customization and things like lockpicking skills. It kinda reminds me of how the skill tree was for Skyrim, and if they do something like that for this game and in the future games, I'd be very happy to stick with the series.

I don't have a PS4 yet and won't be getting one anytime soon, but this looks to be exactly what I'm looking for, in terms of needing a reason to move to next-gen.

I wish the game was in French with subtitles personally.

I assume they do a French dub, so, they could have had that be a thing.

they do have it the french version is for those that buy that . I'm one of those that will buy the English version cause well I'm what the french up here hate called anglophone ( what they call those that speak English up here, it all people around my old man age & older and those sorta brought by them that think this way though) the french have been trying to seperate for years from Canada.

Well the "cray, cray" half any way

Well, I don't speak French well enough to understand complex dialogue, but with subtitles, it would be fine.

I just think it lends a nice touch to the setting.

It could be optional.

Yeah I can see that. Well both the actors Arno and Elise are french well the Canadian Quebec version the people from France actually say there's a difference.

I don't know if they do the version your asking for. I'll ask around

Thanks.

I guess English voices are alright. But I would have laughed my ass off if Napoleon spoke like an American gangster.

lol would make for a good comedy. But the only people that would do that are those that make anime . Napoleon's Hood.
