Superman Returns Attack of the Show: Summer Movie debate

I think Nolan is a special filmmaker,he could become one of the greats IMO

Raimi is dynamic and exciting with the camera during his action sequences and his movies wear their heart on their sleeve and are as fun as it gets

Singer is reserved in his approach but is a very balanced storyteller

my 2 cents:)

You can watch the Spiderman movies a million times over without getting bored of the same action you see everytime can't say the same for X men though.
I think you need to change this quote to say this: "I can watch the Spiderman movies a million times over without getting bored of the same action I see everytime can't say the same for X men though."

The action in both Spider-man films bore me. They go on a bit too long and I usually end up fast forwarding throught them. I loved Spider-man 2 but there was only so much CG fighting and Doc Ock I could take.

^Dont forget the spiderman movies are the best Comic Book Movies of all times!!!

Well at least a "Boring Action" is better than a boring story that most of the fans hate especially with one element in it that happens to be a kid.:D

Best? Certainly up there. At least the 2nd one is. I'd place Batman Begins and Superman: The Movie up higher.

My list would be as follows:
1. Batman Begins
2. Superman: the Movie
3. X2
4. Spider-man 2
5. Sin City
6. Daredevil: Director's Cut
7. Batman '89
8. X-Men
9. Superman II
10. The Crow

I dunno....in my book Batman Begin (IMO) is no.1, and X2 is 2nd with Spidey 2in 3rd.

Honestly, I think X2 is a better film than Spidey 2.....but I know I'm in the minority.

My penny. Nolan did ok with begins. But it's hard not to knowing with what came before it. That's why he has yet to truly impress me. If he was in burton's shoes and made Begins as the first serious take on batman, I'd be very impressed, but nah... he did superbly with the actors (well mostly) but a lot of it didnt really wow me, not like a lot of people seem to have been wowed anyway. It wasn't a hard movie to do, in my mind, either... basically read the list of complaints about the last few films, figure out what the fans want, use what worked in the old movies (much like singer is.. hmmm) and put it all together. I could do it. And he should ask Singer how to shoot action scenes.

Boring story? That remains to be seen.

And why should I care what "most of the fans" like or dislike?

Check my list. I strongly agree with you on that one.

The only reason you guys have X Men above spiderman is because Singer is directing Superman Returns and you have no choice but to like X Men because not to like it would be like not liking Singers direction and not to like Singers direction would be like not liking the direction of SR so far and a fan of a character tends to like everything surrounding that character and not liking SR so far will be like not likng superman which you cannot do.

Actually no. I place X2 over Spider-man 2 because I believe it is a superior film. And notice that Spider-man 2 placed over X1 because I believe Spider-man 2 was superior to X1. The first Spider-man, however, did nothing for me.

And I'm not even a big Superman fan. I'm a bigger fan of Batman. Superman and Spider-man are pretty equal in my affection for them with Batman beating out both, so it's not like I'm biased by blind love for the character. My list simply reflects my assessment of the films after I had seen them.

4. batman returns
5. X-men 2
6. X-men
7. teenage mutant ninja turtles
8. hellboy
9. blade
10. Popeye
11. Men in Black

Pretty good list, skruloos. I had actually started typing my reply before you posted yours.

I have to admit, I was surprised at how good Daredevil's DC was too. It was pretty good.

I dunno Weyseed.....it's hard for me to take anything away from a film for it's previous films: Ie: if Superman Returns is good, saying that it's b/c there's been 5 Superman movies is why. That's kinda unfair.

And your right, the Rocketeer is up there for me.....totally underrated film overall. That movie is awesome.

My top 5.

1. Batman Begins ('bout mother****in time)
2. X2
3. Spider-Man 2
4. Superman the Movie
5. The Rocketeer

I don't think it's that great maybe? It's really nothing really special to me. I yawned through it and left shrugging. Oh snap! no he di-n't...

The sequel's where Nolan will proove his mettle, much like Jason does in this film. It'll be full 100% batman, no origin stuff. Detective batman, more brooding, questioning his lone ranger stance against crime, hopefully fight scenes I can see, more action, the Joker (please don't let katie Cruise defeat him),

it should be bliss.

I forgot to put Daredevil's director's cut in there too. Put it right above helboy. 7 1/2.
