Superman Returns Attack of the Show: Summer Movie debate

So....you hate origin films all together then?

And I wouldn't worry about Cruise, if she's even on the next flick, to defeat the Joker......I mean, c'mon....the Scarecrow's a sissy.

I dunno Weyseed.....it's hard for me to take anything away from a film for it's previous films: Ie: if Superman Returns is good, saying that it's b/c there's been 5 Superman movies is why. That's kinda unfair.

:marv: Well I'm thinking that if the last two films weren't so poorly recieved, Singer (who has proven himself successfull at adapting comics to film for the masses) would never have been approached to helm this one. Ratner'd probably be the director and we'd have superman 5: Rush for peace, or something like that.

No. I just thought begin's origin was slightly too boring. Don't get me wrong. When he finally stopped crying and became started building his batsuit and stuff, I was really enjoying it except for that one part where he smashes the helmet, that seemed unnecessary, but gosh his trip to the mountains and the flashbacks to his past couldn't have been more flat to me... fear this, fear that, fear fea fear... sigh... it's a good movie, yeah, but not one I'd watch except to get to the good parts. If that's just how it is for me and me alone, then so be it.:( i'm lonely.

About Cruise vs batman's rogues
But batman couldn't even defeat him, man... that wasn't cool.

Batman did defeat him...he nearly cracked his skull into the concrete wall.

I dunno, look at character development differently I guess.......Superman the Movie had an hour before we got to see Superman......and I thought Begins made it deep and the flashbacks were a good way of keeping it different....and the action was great too, I thought.

But I hear you, alot of people prefer sequels for that reason......more of the hero and less of the man.

I thought it was very well done, except the Murder scene and this is such an important part of Batman`s history. The murder scene was as bad as shmi Skywalkers death in Attack of the Clones. Terrible performance, no music, no emotion at all....You wanna see a good murder scene, look at Spider-man 1. I remember a tear fell of my eyes when Uncle Ben died. Tobey`s performance was amazing, he changed from saddness to rage in a second. It was perfect and it worked. But i think the main problem with BB was the music. It was nonexistent.

It'll be no surprise but I agree with this guy on principle but Spacey can be a great actor.

I dunno.....I think it was just a realistic approach to it. No slow mo's....no over-dramatic poses......I think it was just a much more somber approach. I think people say that b/c of BATMAN 89 and the slow motion stuff that happened there. But, hey....that's it.

Man Chris you take Batman too seriously.

I take crime-fighting serious.......er....wait...um.....I dunno, Batman's very "operatic" to me....and Begins was a pretty serious film, so it's easy to do so. Sorry If I'm freaking you guys out though.....

No doubt.

I think alot of people are freaking with the "campy" idea. We knew he would be funny, however...we've been told he would be very creepy and evil....so, the movie should show that....

well you know... "It's not who I am underneath... but what I doooooooo that defines me." :)

lol.....right.

How can they not like Kevin Spacey? He is one of the best actors out there...

oh yeah the music... I forgot about it. It was some thumping noises I think... I don't know... techno sort of thing. :( meh, I hope they do something different for the next one.

I think the joker should be listening to the Spice Girls while him and Bats go at it. thats just me i could be wrong

Doubtful that things will change though.

So...just to get back on track......what's everyone think about the running time? 2hrs and 15 or 25mins seems long enough?

like the guy said: this is a character driven movie.
story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and this is the reason why this movie has a chance to become classic. it has a chance to be remembered in 20 years like S:TM.

Only 2 people?

Got anymore to back up your theory?

And yes....Nolan is God.

I agree too....Rami has his own style, it's really what made him such a cult hero before Spider-Man.

However, Singer is man really...the dude is a great director, not to take anything away from Rami.
That may only be two people but they span 6 films and thats just odd so to recap singer has made 6 movies and of those just 2 people have played the bad guys. I wasnt complaining I was just pointing it out
