Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

Quaritch on the other hand is probably a clone. Valuable soldiers would have extra bodies ready to be utilized by RDA.

Shout out to James Cameron for holding on to the boxoffice crown for 22 years.

Very cool of them.

Though Cameron should be like, “Ahem? There’s two missing!”

Could this be a glimpse of the underwater world of Pandora?

Yep. Looks like some bioluminescent coral. One thing is for sure. The underwater scenes are going to be ****ing beautiful.

One deleted scene from the original movie noted that climate change and pollution had killed almost all plant and animal life on Earth, and that people were eating algae to survive because there were no other food sources left. I think that's the big reason Jake is so overjoyed when he bites into that fruit in the first movie - it's probably the first time he's ever eaten fresh fruit.

I always thought that was an interesting plot point so I hope they find a way to note it in the new movies.

I think that gets mentioned in the extended edition.

Any news on a 4K release of the first movie?

Yea the extended edition starts on Earth for a little bit. We see everybody wearing gas masks and Jake is watching some news story about an extinct tiger being cloned.

Environmental poppycock. Next you'll tell me they'll kill our Alaskan salmon supply. :o

Nope. The problem is Cameron likes to personally approve the transfers of his film's home video releases. Normally thatd be a good thing, but Cameron doesnt seem to care much about home video. Hes too busy doing his personal hobbies and experimenting and designing movie tech. True Lies and Abyss never even got a blu ray release. Because he wouldnt take the time to work on a bluray transfer. Theres been rumors since 2006 that it's coming but at this point it doesnt much matter because the home video market has shifted to 4k.

So if Disney has to wait on Cameron we may not get Avatar on 4K until 2021 at the earliest. If Disney says, "****, Cameron's approval." and does their own transfer without his approval so they can release it before Avatar 2 we will definitely get it in Q4 2020 or 2021.

Up close the greenery and the glowing thing look more like ferns or leaves of some sort.
The arrangement of the mocap actors and the stage (and the podium?) makes me think this is on dry land.

How dumb. It’s fine getting his approval so that it is as good as he wants it. I would applaud a filmmaker who wants the transfer to be as good as possible. But there has to be a reasonable deadline.

In the case of Cameron what he thinks looks best is sometimes garbage. The T2 4K transfer was a trainwreck. It was made from a 3D transfer. All the natural film grain was scrubbed away leaving the cast looking waxy and smooth. Cameron said it looked more "modern" that way. :barf: And the HDR and color range was dialed down and ****ed with so bad that it's worse than the 8 bit limited color gamut on the bluray. It's a hot mess.
