I expected 13 years of technological advancements to result in something more groundbreaking, especially from someone like Cameron.

That being said, this still looks visually stunning and I am there opening night.

The close-up shots are the most impressive and just about completely photo-realistic, which is often the opposite case with these kinds of CGI-heavy films.

That close-up of Neytiri peeking out from behind a tree or something is unreal. That is where you can really see the advancement of the technology, along with what Kane posted above.

I find it amusing the reaction to the teaser is exactly the same as the reaction to the avatar 1 teaser was. Including the “meh it doesn’t look that good cgi wise”.

On reddit people are saying “it looks like a ps5 game”. Mirroring so many people who said avatar looked like “a ps3 game” back then.

I came across a Twitter thread on this shot. They were convinced this is a real life shot and the CGI looks bad.

Yet the CGI that “looks so bad” has them convinced it’s a real shot.

I would have rather had Cameron do other stuff besides Avatar as well, but I don't think it's for us to say that he's wasting his talents on something. He has an incredible passion for this story, and it's admirable, if you ask me.

The trailer looks visually impressive but effects are nowhere near the top of the list of what makes a film good for me and it was all the trailer had. I think Avatar is clearly the worst of his films that I've seen (I haven't seen Piranha II) and that the only greatness of it was the tech, so that's why getting nothing but the visuals makes me worried that Cameron will turn into the same thing George Lucas did.

A 3rd terminator from him would have been fantastic. In my opinion T2 is his best film still, because he created great suspense in that film.
