Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

Funny people bringing up Salvation here I blame Avatar for making Sam Worthington a thing and having his character be a bigger thing than John Connor played by Bale no less

Both films are average imo

Watched the trailer at Mt screening for DRS2 and it looks the same which i guess its a good thing since the box office. But 3d won't help it this time

Am I the only one who was not impressed and thought he watched an high quality cartoon trailer?

This shot in particular kinda gives you an idea of how much has advance since the first one.

Bale's version of John Connor sucked anyway. Let's be honest, the movie still would have been bad, even if he had a bigger role.

Do you really think McG of all people would have delivered a good film under any circumstances? :funny:

Salvation had the most interesting premise of the sequels since it wasn’t just the same old “send robots back in time” story that the others were. But the execution was absolute crap. Bale had nothing to do, Worthington sucked, and it was just boring and predictable. It was the only post-T2 sequel I was actually excited for and it ultimately became the most disappointing.

Genysis was easily the worst one but I don’t think anyone expected it to be good, lol. Though it did give us this gem:

Also, Bale was given the lead role but he choose to play the smaller part. That's on him. His performance as John was terrible, either way.

He's an amazing actor. One of my favorites but he should have never agreed to that film. Between the script and McG, the red flags we're everywhere.

Yeah, I don’t know why he did that. Though the Marcus role was dumb too. I don’t know why they couldn’t just make a movie about John Connor. Why follow some other character we’ve never heard of before? Does a Terminator HAVE to be one of the protagonists every time just because it worked in T2? Oh, but this time it’s different! He’s a terminator who is also a human! Terrible script.

They were trying to emulate T2. Replacing Arnold with another Terminator hero. It's dumb I know.

Yup, Salvation was the last time a Terminator film had some hype behind it, but everyone should've known better. Wasn't the film supposed to be the start of a new trilogy?

I think time has proven that it's actually impossible to make a third Terminator without it either being a disaster or, at the very least, forgettable or mediocre.

Admittedly, I don't think Rise of the Machines is as bad as Salvation, Genisys, and Dark Fate, but it still doesn't reach what the first two accomplished.
I agree. It's damaged goods now, but I still would be interested to see what Cameron could have done without the baggage of everything post T2. With all due respect, the directors, wrtiers etc. were not Cameron. And even though he 'endorsed' Genisys (lol) and had input in Dark Fate, I reckon he was past truly caring at that point about the franchise.

I think the wait between movies has been absurd, but it seems foolish to bet against James Cameron at this point.

I was getting told off at the time Salvation was in production on here for pointing out these exact red flags and more. I tried to be positive when I saw it but for me now it’s the worst T2 sequel.

They couldn’t even get the T-600 right.

Seen it today in IMAX (haven’t watched it yesterday to not be spoiled).
…eeh
I think will never understand the hype behind it.
The scenes at the beach looked nice. Like beach vacation…

I think he endorsed Genesis / Ginisys / Genisys for Arnold no? I doubt he cares much. And while he was involved with Dark Fate, he admitted to clashing with the Deadpool guy (forgot his name) over that film. "It was forged in fire" I think were his exact words :oldrazz:

I'd never bet that this won't be another billion dollar earner for Cameron. However, I've had and still have my doubts that it'll break the all-time box office record like its predecessor. I just can't see that happening post-pandemic.

I think people are already tired of Avatar in general.
Dont think it will have the same box office succes. 3D was a gimmick and people arent interested in it anymore, even if the movie is in 60fps, who cares?

Yeah, I remember.

Everyone had convinced themselves that the script had to be amazing or else Bale wouldn't have signed on.

How did that turn out? :funny:

McG's masterpiece!

Now that the series belongs to the House of Mouse, I wouldn't be surprised to see Disney market the hell out of this. More than that, should no movie come close to topping No Way Home as far as big winners during the pandemic, I could see Disney making a play to earn that crown. They did re-release the first Avatar not long after Endgame temporarily took the top spot, after all.

I think people were tired of Avatar back in 2010 when it was all anyone was talking about, but I don't see how they could be tired of it now since it's been over 12 years since the first movie and there hasn't been anything to come out of the franchise since then with the exception of a Disney Parks attraction.
