Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

Holy ****

Thats a pretty big goal and I know this sequel will make money but will it will need the word of mouth and make people want to comeback for repeat viewing like the 2009 movie did. A 3 hour runtime is also gonna eat away at additional showings. Im also not sure if the GA wants to wear 3d glasses for 3 hours plus.

Im also by no means suggesting this movie will
Bomb at all.

"James Cameron : Star Wars sequels sucked? Bored with Godzilla Vs Kong or boss Vs boss kind of movies? Newest Jurrasic World underperformed? Feeling bored about no movies just series? Disappointed with The Hobbit? OK, here is masterpiece from me."

I was one of the many people who's acted ho hum at the prospect of multiple Avatar sequels coming out over the years, but between riding the Avatar ride at Disney last month and being blown away by it, hearing some good word of mouth and just being super intrigued to see what Cameron has cooked up after so long, I'm just about ready to take a trip back to Pandora. I also am rooting for this movie to be huge regardless...if both Top Gun Maverick and Avatar end up being the big box office stories of this year, I think that sends a great message to Hollywood about the appetite for quality blockbusters on the big screen.

Most youtube reviews I have watched seem to be praising the effects while diminishing the lack of a good story. Ill find out Saturday morning
That’s basically what I’m expecting. This is a cinema experience because of the effects, not the story.

Just rewatched the extended edition of Avatar for the first time in years and I forgot how much better this cut was especially since I watched the theatrical cut in theaters recently.

Jesus, it's a joke. I'll be there on Sunday watching this and drinking the Kool Aid like everyone else. No need to clutch your pearls. If you're that easily offended maybe you should stay off the internet.
I'm going to be there Friday at 10AM. I hate Kool Aid though and it might?? be a little too early for beer....I think.....Prosecco and OJ??

So it’s like the first film then? That’s disappointing
Yea I was hoping after 13 years we would jave a rock solid story to go with the improved CGI. The story was my main complaint about the first one, take away the cgi and 3d gimmick and what do you have left?

I'll never understand why "take away the visual presentation of the movie and it's not as good" works as an argument for movies like this, like it's just some arbitrary thing that can be disregarded or not counted.

If you take away the style in SUSPIRIA, you don't have much in the way of story or characters. But that style is exactly why it's in my top 10 of all time. It's inextricably linked to what it is.

It’s falling in with the characters that’s most important. The story IS the visuals.

Yeah the story seems to be really thin again and thats bothered me with the first one also. The visuals alone dont make a good film.

I'll take a thin, simple story over some convoluted mess of a plot anyday. Too many blockbusters today try too hard to be smart with various twists and turns and between big action sequences you pretty much just have the characters explaining what the hell is going on, or they are just throwing jokes left and right. Simple stories are more believable because life is simple, most of the time.

Lucky I checked my old emails. My showing is actually at 6am tomorrow before work rather than on Sat! Would have missed it. Wouldn’t have consciously chosen it before work on a very busy day but still good to see it so soon.

Blockbusters need to be more simple and less convoluted because…life is simple.

*Looks at/remembers the last six years of American and world history/politics/etc.*
