Actually this version of Thor is one the best handled animated versions so far, he's pretty powerful considering it is a team show. I just wish they portrayed him with better actual fighting skills.
Yeah, I've noticed it's Thor who usually steps in to deliver finishing blows. That massive lightning blast has taken down two of the biggest badasses the Avengers have fought so far--Kang and Graviton.

yeah the cap fanatic got his say, but he had to take **** to do it. no free lunches corp:argh:
I had a free lunch today.

It will be curious when or if Disney's ownership of Marvel will add a boost in animation quality. Because while the animation quality of A:EMH is good overall, it naturally is not as high as a WB production like "YOUNG JUSTICE".

That said, when it comes to a fight sequence, it all comes down to the storyboards. Even with the best animation in the world, if the storyboards aren't exciting and dynamic, then the battle won't be. The final battle in "ULTIMATE AVENGERS" was cool because most of the storyboards were inspired by Millar & Hitch panels from the comic; the sequel lacked that, and thus the action was more awkwardly cut and repetitive. So saying that the action is good while a one-on-one fight can be bad isn't an oxymoron.

All of that is up to opinion, of course. I thought the battle with Graviton was easily up to par with anything on JLU. There have been some awkward one-on-one battle moments with Cap, but overall the action is good. I actually liked the first battle with the MOE, and if it wasn't perfect...well...good. It was their first battle. Save better stuff for a rematch. Besides, these are TEAM shows; it isn't always supposed to be about a series of one vs. one but how a team operates. That is why the Avengers won and the Masters lost; the Masters were hot **** with the element of surprise and numbers, but once the Avengers were assembled and in the game, they started to fold. Yes, maybe it would have been cooler to see Cap vs. Grim Reaper rather than what we got (which was Black Panther de-clawing him and then Cap landing the shield throw TKO), but it was effective.

I do think Thor has been depicted very well here. His relationship with Jane Foster is adorable to watch. While his petulance with Odin and the affairs of Asgard is a little irritating, we've seen little of that in ages. His warrior spirit has been captured very well and in terms of sheer power, he's probably the most powerful solo Avenger; the Hulk is the strongest, but strength and power are two different things. Thor has other options if muscle alone won't cut it - the Hulk often doesn't. And, as stated, Thor is often the one who gets in the final blow (or shares the final blow with Iron Man).

In "Gamma World", there were perfectly good reasons why Thor took the beatings he got. When Abomination and Absorbing Man were pounding him, he was stalling so his hammer could return to him. Then when Leader thought he was one-upping Thor by "allowing" that to happen so Creel could absorb the uru, Thor AGAIN had to take a beating so he could concentrate on controlling Creel's uru body. I saw it as Thor using his mind more than his warrior skills in that episode, and that's cool. Too often Thor is written as a guy who just screams, "FOR ASGARD!" and smashes something. Here we had Thor matching wits against the Leader. That's interesting, isn't it? Everyone expected it with Hulk or Banner, which we got a little of, but instead it was Thor.

If I had to pick my "least favorite" Avenger, it would probably be Iron Man, although that's mostly because of his nature (and the fact that he's been trying to usurp Wolverine as "most overused hero" lately). In many episodes Stark is more of an impatient jerk than a genius and sometimes that's done to help the plot along. It isn't anything too glaring, and Stark in the films is depicted as almost an "arrogant savant" than anything. At the very least, I feared he would hog the show and he hasn't, at all. Neither has the Hulk, either. I actually like this version of Hulk a lot; he can talk, he's working on a team, and he's strong without always overpowering every situation and being a hog. Now if Iron Man and Hulk could do that, why couldn't Wolverine?

Hawkeye is the character I would say is close to hogging, but he's not been as bad in some episodes, and it took him a while to join officially. He was off the small screen for the longest time and in virtually every Avengers related DTV's, we all were screaming for Hawkeye again. Well, here he is. It's almost hard to complain now. Besides, Clint sort of HAS to be that scene-stealer with the attitude for him to work. It's who he is.

While some of the storyboarding for Cap battles could be better, I naturally like everything else about him. He's got a great design, his voice is awesome and he's rising to the fore as leader organically, which is more interesting than just making him leader from day one as some fans griped about before the pilot. And need I mention again how cool Pym and Wasp are? Here everyone was worried Pym would be crippled by his sad-sack, mental breakdown plagued stereotype from Marvel over the last few years, but that's not here. Wasp, naturally, steals any lines or scenes she has.

Yeah, getting Vision eventually will be cool, but I'm content with the cast we have for now. I'm in no rush to boot someone so the robot can fill in. Handling a full team cast of 9 would be a bit crazy, so I imagine one or two members would leave for a little bit when Vision comes in. Even the much heralded 90's X-MEN show had characters just drop out of episodes for stretches of time (usually Gambit, Jean, or Jubilee) because you can't have them all in every episode.

True, I'm just waiting for atleast one episode where Thor cut's loose like Hulk did when he was fighting Graviton.

Iron Man is pretty well done in this show, he just seems to get beaten up an awful lot. I oftern joke about it with my friends so it was cool to hear Cap comment on Iron Man's fighting skills in episode 17.

Captain America is done pretty well, even though I know the Avengers were holding back I still think he was overpowered in his premiere episode. Every episode since then has captured him pretty nicely.

Hulk is probably my favorite animated version of him yet, I like the fact that he's actually using complete sentences. I think he overshadowed the other characters in the Graviton fight a bit too much.

Black Panther can use alot more lines, they've captured his essence and fighting skills very well. It seems like every since they joined the team Hawkeye has greatly overshadowed Black Panther in every way. I still think Hawkeye is done well also, he just needs to be toned down a tad.

Wasp & Giant Man's characters are both done extremely well, the only complaint I have it Hank's propencity to get beaten up alot (see Iron man).

"The robot." You are such a bigot against artificial lifeforms, Dread. :o

Robot, android, "synthesoid", tomato, tomahtoe. I just used the term that wasn't "inside baseball". Sheesh, you defend your Vision so vigorously.

I am curious if Shawn MacDonald will voice Vision when he shows up, or if Tom Kane will voice both him and Ultron. Shawn MacDonald voiced Vision in "NEXT AVENGERS", and Tom Kane naturally voices Ultron in A:EMH, but will play Vision in "MARVEL SUPER HERO SQUAD". Of course, most Marvel fans know him best as HOMER from "IRON MAN" season 2.

Since Hank is a scientist and not a fighter, I don't mind that Giant-Man isn't always a warrior born. Considering that he IS just a lab geek, it's sort of amazing that he fights as well as he can, throwing good hooks and even some grappling moves. His strength is his mind more so than any powers. Still, he has his moments, especially in "MASTERS OF EVIL". The irony is that while others, such as Thor, see his Giant-Man form as "more useful", he probably gets more mileage out of his Ant-Man abilities.

Thor cut loose in the micro's against the Frost Giants (and had a good fight against Loki). I imagine whenever Loki shows his hand this or next season, we'll get to see Thor own. Heck, it could be this upcoming episode.

Black Panther's schtick is that he doesn't talk much here; he's the "cool mysterious" one, all business and no blabbin' (something you can't say of Hawkeye, who talks trash all the time). I was never a huge fan of the Panther, but he's cool here. Good design, reliable fighter, etc. And both he and Cap (and to a degree the Hulk) got to take on the entire team single handedly.

I imagine the Kree/Skrull war will bring about epic, high power moments. There are a slew of powerful characters to truck out for that. On the Kree side you have Ronan the Accuser and even Starforce, and on the Skrull side you have Super-Skrull and even Titannus (who popped up in MARVEL: ULTIMATE ALLIANCE).

I am grossly annoyed by the wimpy portrayal of Wasp.

I suppose it is annoying that her stings don't seem to take out anyone. In the comics, her bio-blasts could stun even large opponents. Still, I think she's been great. Great voice and great lines. She's always the heart of the team in a way.

You are becoming one of my favorite users my friend :word:

I agree with you on all points, Panther is best suited as a silent hero & Giant Man does do pretty good fighting for a science nerd. Hank did "shine" in the Masters of Evil episode, especially when he punted Abomination.

Thor definatley did his thing against Loki & The Frost Giants, but I hope he gets a few more moments even better than those before the season is done.

I hope you're right about the Kree/Skrull war, I hope it's just more than smashing spaceships & fighting soldiers. I would love to see some high powered battles against foes like Ronan The Accuser, Super Skrull, Titannus, Paibok, or Star Force (even though idk who he is).

Just finished watching the last few episodes. Anyone else feel like this season is better than JL first season?

Oh I think so. Easily.

As for Thor, I find him to be cool in ALL his showings. Once the Loki arc comes into play Thor will DEFINATLY be in the spotlight. Patience, people. Use the Force, thin---Aw, crap...

On an unrelated topic, who are those three guys---Kang's special henchmen? His own personalized version of Cooler's Armored Squadron?

I guess he means the guys that were flying those ships that the Avengers took out. From what I gather they were just some henchmen and they gave them different faces to distinguish them for some reason or another. I'd say they're just some nobody cannon fodder D-bags.

I think the shadowy figure that Enchantress talks too is not Loki but Doom. I've gotten the entire season on itunes now and the first scene we see in Iron Man's intro is a Doom mission gone wrong. I think at the end of the season we'll see the circle close and he'll reveal himself to be the big bad behind the whole thing. Very symmetrical and it makes sense.

Vengeance is a dish best served cold.

I hope not. Save Doom for season 2 and let Loki be the guy behind everything that led to the Avengers' formation, just as he was in the comics.

Oh, I thought there might've been some shots of Kang's Anachronauts (who totally have the coolest team name ever) that I missed.

Thinking about it, Kang/Immortus has a lot of the best henchmen. The Growing Man, the Anachronauts, Terminus, and probably others I'm forgetting.

Well, he would be at the very end of Season 1. Total cliff hanger. I wouldn't mind him being in league with Loki. Leaving him to take all the heat from Season 1. Setting up Doom's campaign for the next season.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

I meant the guy with the sword, the green guy with the laser weapon and the big purple guy with a glorified mace.

Possibly the Anachronauts, then. Kang's group of warriors gathered from throughout time and forced into serving him as his personal strike force.

Just finished watching the last few episodes. Anyone else feel like this season is better than JL first season?

The Micro episodes alone were better than the whole JL season 1.This show only has to worry about season 2 of JL and JL unlimited

The problem is Marvel has a hard time giving its shows more than 52 episodes, its a miracle this show already has 52 in the first place

Yeah, despite my complaints I still think this is one of the best animated depictions of Thor ever.

Now that I think about it, Loki might be a prominent character in the three part finale. I guess only time will tell, in this case only a few weeks ;)

If you've got the entire season on iTunes, freeze frame the last shot of "Masters of Evil." You can make out Loki's face, horns, costume and other distinguishing features through the shadow that hangs over him. Not to mention the classic hand-on-face pose. Its Loki.

Agreed, I meant to post something like this but I forgot about it.
