Yup Im3 theme which I love btw, I'd imagine we will hear his Thor theme as well at some point.

He said he used Alan Silvestri's theme (no mention of how many times) because he liked it and combined it with one of his own.

Elfman wrote an hour of music and has a full 'Music By' credit now. You don't hire Danny Elfman to be Alan Silvestri, otherwise they would have hired Silvestri in the first place. They wanted Danny Elfman music.

See I may be wrong but they way I understood it when I read it was he combined the old theme with the new one Tyler had done.

Edit: looked up article it isn't mentioned at all whether he wrote the new theme so it could be either one of them who did it only official part is he added in silvestris them to a new one that someone made lol

I hope we hear a variation of Jackman's Captain America theme.

He was discussing using other composers themes in an interview. He then brought up using Silvestri's Avengers theme. Had he combined it with someone else's theme he would have said so because that was the topic, using other composers themes.

Are more people watching AOU at the LA premiere, will there be a screening?

God I hope so, that's the best work that's been heard in the MCU so far (that and Tyler's Iron Man Three theme)

You know your stuff so I will differ to you on this, just stating how I understood it.

Does anyone know when the soundtrack will be released? Based on previous movies I would guess April 26-27 or so.

I'm surprised we haven't gotten either previews or a track list yet. Would kinda like to hear the score without people talking or other background noise.

That feels like a whole lot more tracks than a normal Marvel score.

Thanks god Elfman is involved in this.. maybe it will be a somewhat recognizable score.

Brain Tyler is just AWFUL

I didn't realize Tyler was involved until recently, and I've been very worried ever since.

The tracklist doesn't make me feel any better. I was hoping that Whedon brought Elfman on to rescore scenes involving certain characters or plotlines, but it seems like it's going to be a disjointed listening experience.

I hope not, but still.

Could hopefully still be the case. Elfman wrote an hour of music and there'll probably be a little over twenty minutes represented on album. Because Tyler already had an album in the can by the time Elfman came on board it makes sense he'd have more music on the album.

After I see the movie next week I'll try to make heads or tails of the situation.

I would bank on Elfman trying to make his new additions work within Tyler's framework. That would be part-and-parcel of accepting the job and not rescoring the ENTIRE film.

Also worth bearing in mind that the asterisk next to two of Elfman's tracks surely means he uses Silvestri's theme in them.

Not sure how I feel about most of it being Tyler except for 7. I hope there isn't too much of a contrasting sound between for those 7 compared to the other 28, I don't want to be able to hear who did what despite already knowing.

I only see one next to "Inevitability / One Good Eye", wheres the other one?

Is this for real? Man, I hope not. Tyler really impressed me with IM3 and TDW, but I'm not feeling this at all. Especially not compared to Silvestri's original score.

The MCU gets so many things right and pulls off cross movie consistencies so well. I can't understand why they won't do the same with their music.

EDIT: Looks like this was the music in one of the TV Spots and somebody mislabeled it on YouTube. Not cool.

Would’ve preferred if both scores were presented on two discs ( 75 min of Tyler’s 2 hour score on one disc and Elfman’s nearly 60 min of score on the other ) instead of only one. It’s probably 35-40 min of score from both composers to fit the 78 min of disc space. Oh well it’s better than nothing.

:csad:

It’s better than nothing at all.

Honestly with all the legalities involved with this sort of thing it's probably something of a miracle there'll be any Elfman on the album at all.

If they wanted Elfman, why not just get Elfman to score the whole thing?
