Bad Robot/Jonathan Nolan Bringing "Westworld" to HBO - Part 1

Apparently season 4 has had a huge drop-off in ratings, averaging less than half of season 3's.

They should be happy they've got even that many viewers.

They jump 7 years, start a storyline and conflict, bring the park back in a new way, reveal that congress is mostly robots and the VP is killed and replaced, then in the next episode abandon all of that and jump 20 years, the villains have won, and two major protagonists are dead in BS ways.

It's a lot of narrative whiplash in a very short amount of time.

Okay, I'll admit, even though Seasons 2 and 3 aren't that memorable to me, Season 4 isn't too bad right now and feels more in line with the first season, quality-wise. While I'm still trying to figure out what takes place when because of the timeline, I'm more invested in this season than I was the previous two.

I also love seeing Daniel Wu, as big fan of Into the Badlands.

This season is slightly better than S3 but is moving at a snail pace to the point where the show just isn't fun anymore. 6 hours of story ao far, that could've been told in 1 hour. Nothing is happening.

At this point I only keep watching because of the cast and production value.

I'm fascinated just by reading where the show went. I stopped watching when season 2 ended simply because it was hard for me to follow and I just wasn't enjoying myself unlike season 1 which I loved. I might just watch this later on just to see all the crazy stuff I'm reading.

I just don't know what the show is driving at anymore. It feels less allegorical to me. Admittedly though, the pace of S4 has also fractured my attention a bit. Maybe I'm just missing the larger theme because I'm kinda bored.

There’s definitely been a noticeable drop in quality for S4, and I’m saying this as someone who thought S3 was mediocre. But there’s almost zero intrigue for me to continue watching besides the typical “I’ve already made it this far” mentality.

I watched every season, when it came out and just needed to watch recaps for every season…I still don’t get a lot of things lol

It's a tough show, lots of nuance. I do find it easier to follow while bingeing.

Denise The recycling her own dialogue. And I am for it. :o
Me when she said it:

With the way this season ended, there's no way Season 5 isn't the final season, if it gets renewed.

So did the people kill themselves all over....or just in New York? Like, the final game...is that Earth or just in the Sublime? My brain is hurting....

Ed Harris is just the definition of badass and this is easily the best we've seen him as William since Season 1. There was a lot to enjoy about this season, but he's been the highlight for me since episode 1.

Same. The show wouldn't have been anywhere as good without him. :)

Simon finally got to hold the bat and be the man. :o

Loved this season. But this finale kinda felt like a reworked, open ended series finale? Just a vibe I got. I really hope they get renewed for another season. Lisa Joy just said in an interview that they haven't received word on a renewal.

Well, Ed Harris did say that there's going to be one final season that the plan is to shoot early next year, but yeah, it hasn't been officially greenlit yet.

Fore me every season finale of this show feels like it serves like series finale at the same time. I would even argue that this one is kind of less complete than any of the previous ones.
