Balding

Looking back, I think I started to lose my hair in my early 20's but I really didn't notice it until I was 27 and was self conscious about it for a long time.

But back at the height of covid, I bought a pair of clippers since I wasn't able to see my stylist. I started buzzing it down to an 1/8" or #1 clipper guard and have felt a lot better about it since than.

I'll probably take the leap towards a shaved head eventually as clipping what I have left so short gives me a bit of a teaser as what I'd look like.

But the buzzcut is working for me.

Yeah I’ve been rocking the buzz cut for a bit. 1.5 razor. But I reckon it’s time to go all the way

Mine started falling out in 'clumps' in my early 20's through anxiety & depression & cancer treatment and I immediately just shaved the lot off and have gone with a 'zero' on the clippers ever since. I lost more through my 2nd cancer treatment in my late 20's, but just kept it short since with a beard upto my glasses, so I'm an 'upside down head' if that makes sense.

Did it work? I’ve heard it’s very expensive

Yeah, I’d say it worked very well for me. I should note that in some cases, it’s in one of three catagories: Very successful, moderately successful, and ineffective.

I'm in this weird position where I had really thick hair, it started to thin on top at 30, at 32 I took the plunge and shaved it off grew out my beard (looking like every other bald dude on the planet) only to then grow back my even thinner hair at 34.

I can't do it, for whatever reason I need my hair!

I had really thick coarse hair, and my dad's family always said I'd never lose my hair. Little did they know the receding hair gene is passes on from the mother, and my mom's family is thin haired women and bald men. In my early 20s it began receding on top, but my sides are as thick as ever. A couple years ago I shaved it for the first time in decades, and omg it was so freeing. Not having to worry about my hairline or the style is wonderful. Thankfully I can grow a thick long beard so I dont look like a chemo patient.:hehe:

My dad stated balding in his early 20s as he said. I remember him at the age of 40, he lost almost all his hair. So I was so scared to get bald, that I'm doing everything to prevent it. I don't really know if it's genetically predictable, but I read that hair loss actually can be prevented. I'm trying to take supps from time to time, don't do any manipulations with my hair except of brushing it with a soft brush made from natural fibers! I even buy special medicated shampoo from Canadian pharmacy when I notice more hair on my clothes.

Crazy to think when I posted this thread (2015) I did still have a decent bit of hair left. Now I've gotten to the point where I keep it buzzed with just a bit of stubble. Usually have a trim thin line beard or full beard too.

I also just got to the point where I don't care as much (I think everyone who goes bald still wish they had their hair, but they just learn to deal with it, maybe I'm wrong lol.) But I've also gotten married since this post too, so I'm no longer in the dating scene either.

But on our first date(s) I always kept my hat on. I've gotten over that a bit. I do feel I got a bit of a big forehead, a "fivehead" so I just have to roll with it.

I personally look much better bald than with hair.

Some people have all the luck haha. I would still prefer to have hair honestly, but it is what it is. I don't see myself ever paying for a hair transplant so I'm stuck with what I got lol!

I went through it in my 20s then I heard one of my favorite athletes Armani Toomer who had a full head od dreads when he came in the nfl and was balding then shaved it

I rather fire my hair before it quits on me lolol. I've be shsving ever since.
