Deacon Blackfire would be a good villain for Hardy to play. They could do The Cult story line and combine it with Batman Son of the Demon. It started with Ra's and I think it should end with Ra's. If Nolan decides to leave the Batman films after this one then this would be a great way to do a new trilogy with a new director/cast, heck you can even get a new Batman because I think they should translate what Grant's doing with Batman and Robin into film.

If they made Blackfire like Beck, Robertson, etc., he'd be a nice contrast to the Joker. As screwed up as he was, there was something very charismatic about TDK's Joker, which is probably how he was able to acquire all those goons. A hypocritical holy roller/political figure would be the exact opposite of that. You'd want Batman to toss them off of a building and not even bother with the grappling hook this time.

Well a villain who appears as a savior to Gotham, through faith, media outlets, is about as sharp a contrast as you can draw with the Joker.

It wouldn't be topping TDK, but it wouldn't have to because it would be as different to TDK as BB was different to TDK.

if it is a take off of prey, i think hardy would be better as sgt cort, the cop that is in charge of hunting batman down that strange then hypnotizes into becoming a murderous vigilante to do his bidding

who knows how close they will stick to the story if its even what they are actually basing the movie on, but the only 2 female leads would be catwoman (whos part is very small) and the mayors daughter (who kind of looks like anne hathaway)

Agreed! I've been thinking that for a while, though I wouldn't expect anything near an exact translation (such as no hypnotism).

It's funny, after watching the last interviews I was just thinking, "I wish someone would ask Christian Bale his opinion of Tom Hardy, who is similar in his intensity and talent in physical transformation for roles." Now here we are hearing Bale praise Hardy. Also interesting was Bale saying that though he believes this is the last film in the series, he'd be open to doing another one after it if Nolan was onboard and had a good story. And also that he might like to come back and do The Dark Knight Returns if he gets to wait 20 years.
