The Dark Knight Rises Bane

Bane's philosophy has always been that he should be the best human he can possibly be, that his birthright is to be the best humanity has to offer--and venom would be like cheating to him.

He obviously has to wear a mask of some kind, though preferably not the rest of his comic outfit, haha.

Well they could tone down the Venom uses and still have Venom. He could sell it to quickly take over the criminal underworld. Criminals are afraid of Batman and desperate, so naturally they'd turn to a drug that would give them an edge against him, no matter what the side effects are. Batman gets worn out with Gotham's criminals on venom, allowing Bane to injure him. That way you have Venom and showcase Bane's natural physical and mental prowess. Maybe have Bane take Venom towards the end in desperation, which leads to his downfall.

Nolan Bane has a lot of potential to be great.

How much time, honestly, does he have to put on an appropriate amount of size for Bane?

He is currently filming another flick, and principle starts on this in was it May or March? May would make it somewhat more realistic.

I'm hopeful he'll be as big as he was in Bronson maybe a little more cut...

There's this movement on SHH to portray characters who they ARE, VS who they were, and then who they can be. I blame Marvel movies.

Why skip Bane's Venom addiction? It's a compelling, fairly unique character element.
Well, so long as he's off the stuff by the end of the film, I guess I have no objection. If he can be taken through that character arc convincingly in one movie, that's great.

He will take a lot of steroids. He will make something up about eating a lot of koftas and drinking banana milkshakes, but it will be the drugs that will deserve the Oscar.

Maybe when he can't defeat Batman, no matter how juiced he is, he realizes that the Venom made him actually "weak". And that it takes more than raw strength to defeat the Bat.

Oh that would actually be quite a cool idea. Like one of them, greek tragedy's. Although it would be great if it had a Spiderman 2 moment of people helping batman after getting the crap beat out of him (even if it's just to show not everyone has lost faith in the character after the ending of the second movie).

As I recall, Hardy already was working out for this role, wasn't he?

Lol they always juice. Jackman for Wolverine, Bale for Batman, Pitt for Achilles, Hemsworth for Thor, Evans for Captain America, so on and so forth.

But even on steroids, does he have enough time to get legitimately, "Bane big"? I know he won't be 6'8" or whatever, but he still needs to be physically imposing....bottom line- that's a huge part of his character.

Could make for a dramatic showdown if, instead of having Batman cut the tube feeding Bane the Venom, as he did most of the time in comics and cartoons, Bane rips it out of himself. And now instead of Venom, Bane would be fueled by rage.

Here's hoping....

I have faith in his ability as an actor, and in Nolan's ability to get the best out of him. Not to mention- I doubt Goyer/Jonah wouldn't nail the character.

Here it is Tom Hardy:

Look at it this way. Batman, in the comics, is bigger than Schwarzenegger. Bane is drawn like The Incredible Hulk. Since Bale is nowhere near Schwarzenegger sized, Hardy only needs to be bigger than Bale.

I'm not going to lie...I'm a little thrown by the announcement that Hardy is BANE.

I am bigger than Bale was in TDK. That isn't saying a lot- my sport is cricket, not rugby.

Really? Never would have guessed.

Look at it this way. You need to put on a lot of clean bulk in time for a deadline. You might be able to do it naturally, but why risk it when steroids are available?

Would anybody else be surprised if Bane breaks Batman's back at the end of this upcoming movie?

What a way to end a trilogy, yeah?

Bane putting Batman out of commission would be a good reference but if it ends with Wayne in a wheelchair I'll be po'd

Good news for Bale: no workout routine. Hardy on the other hand...

I can see him similar being very to Bruce. League of Shadows trained, knows all the fighting techniques (and more) and is just a mountain of a man. The venom would be awesome and is realistic enough to be included but I kinda doubt it will be in it.
