The Dark Knight Rises Bane

wait, people dont want bane to be addicted to venom? that sounds like a great idea for a batman movie where the waynes were never killed so bruce.....just grows up normal.

Would it be safe to imagine that if they do take elements from the "Knightfall" storyline, where Batman is put on the backburner due to being severely injured by his battle with Bane, that Batman's absence is what causes Gotham to have the "need" for him that Gordon was talking about at the end of TDK?

I think we'd all prefer him to use the venom but it just seems a little too unrealistic for the Nolanverse. But who knows, He went balls-out with Two-Face on the CGI so maybe he'll make Bane huge, not to be so typical but whatever Nolan does I'm sure it will work.

I want there to be a full-scale Rocky moment, in which a battered and seemingly humiliated Batman leaps up and lands a succession of decisive hay-makers on Bane's dismayed head.

Tank. Flying over rooftops. A microwave emitter that turns every source of water in the surrounding to steam, but conveniently doesn't effect people.

Maybe the Venom doesn't have to turn him huge in the Movie, but it should make him a badass mothereffer.

super steroids are about as realistic as fear gas. and lets not pretend that nolans "realism" has been too strict when its been largely inconsistent in films. and venom is an integral part of banes character. if nolan isnt willing to commit to the characters then he shouldnt be using them. that said, i think venom will be used. im just shocked that people wouldnt want to see it.

Well they could tone down the Venom uses and still have Venom. He could sell it to quickly take over the criminal underworld. Criminals are afraid of Batman and desperate, so naturally they'd turn to a drug that would give them an edge against him, no matter what the side effects are. Batman gets worn out with Gotham's criminals on venom, allowing Bane to injure him. That way you have Venom and showcase Bane's natural physical and mental prowess. Maybe have Bane take Venom towards the end in desperation, which leads to his downfall.

Nolan Bane has a lot of potential to be great.

Sounds good to me!

I think after Heath-Joker turned out not having white skin, which is so crucial to that character, having a second tier supervillain not have a key characteristic just seems more plausible. Again though, I've love to see it anyway.

Bane? That's an...interesting choice... It will be hard to make me see him as a main villain if no backs are broken...

while i think banes venom is more crucial to his character than jokers skin tone....i suppose yer right, i wouldnt put it past them to drop it. but i was really bummed and critical about jokers skin....i'd feel the same way about bane not using venom.

I'm Saint and I approve this message.

I'm happy with the Bane for Hardy announcement. I'm having trouble with Hathaway for Catwoman though.

My problem is that Bane is a pretty big guy.
Even when not using venom.
Tom hardy(according to a quick google search) Is only about as tall as Christian Bale...if not shorter.
And if Nolan tries to keep his "realistic batman" thing going...which Im sure he will.
The whole bulking up with venom thing wont happen.

Christian Bale is noticeably much shorter than Aaron Eckhardt or Gary Oldman. Nolan didn't even try to hide that. I hope he didn't try, anyway. But no one seems to care about that.

I agree, but similar to Joker being insane above white-skinned, Bane is a bruiser above using venom, the venom just adds to it as does the Joker's skin. (If that makes sense) I would be fine with a huge muscular guy who is capable of punishing Batman through multiple fighting styles or brute force, but of course as a Bat-fan, him having the venom would make my day. I know Bane is addicted to it in many storylines but I think it can be used differently.

A hired hit specialist who also happens to be a steroid junkie, seems the most logical route to take.

IMO Nolan's not going to ignore the mob story as it has been critical to the story he has been telling all along.

I'm thinking that Falcone went down in BB, the rest of the mob fell during TDK, and now Bane has taken over the entire mob through Gotham.

The general public will NEED Batman as the hero or the city is done for.

I think it's important to keep bane's prison origin intact. After that, you can get more creative--if he was a soldier of fortune that would be fine. The tricky part is going to be motivating him to come to Gotham and take on Batman. It's important, I think, that his basic philosophy, that of the guy who wants to be the ultimate human and see's Batman as the only challenger to that title, remain intact.

I think outfitting him in some military gear (like a flak jacket, things like that) and throwing on his mask would work nicely if he had a mercenary background, as you often see them doing eccentric things like that (in fiction) to personalize their gear.

The phrase "brokeback Batman" doesn't mean what it meant back in 2007 anymore.

I have a feeling theyre gonna go the "Legacy" storyline route, it would tie the films together as well introduce Bane as Batmans most dangerous threat yet.

Being able to beat Batman has more to do with size and musculature, though that does play a big role. Bane isn't just some really strong thug, he's a guy who can match Batman in every way, including intellectually. That is maybe even more important than how bulked up Hardy gets.

I'm suddenly reminded as to how Batman defeats Joker in the videogame for Batman: Asylum, where Batman sprays some of his explosive clay onto his gloves and decides to punch Joker on the face in one climatic move to defeat him. Ironically, Joker was using Bane's venom as well.:yay:
