I hate to say this because it looks like its just ripping off BTAS episode, but I'd like to see Rupert Thorne be the mob/politician connection in the next film if they're not going
to bother with Cobblepot, which I feel is a crime.
But more to the point, it's not Bane's race that's important. It's where he grew up, and it's scarier than Arkham Asylum. Well okay maybe not, but it's close. And real. That's what they need to focus on.
Absolutely. Well said.
Bruce says that criminals aren't complicated. But their evolution is certainly interesting.
Bane is essentially a metaphor for criminality. He's occassionally been almost every different type of criminal rolled into one.
I would prefer the Venom be left out completely. I appreciate it as an important part of his character, but looking at it purely as a writer, I think he's more interesting without it. It helps make him a closer parallel to Bruce; I'd like him to have reached physical perfection through sheer will and not through artificial means.
And then what? When he's reached perfection, how does he go beyond it?
It seemed like there was somethng that would satisfy The Joker, that would give him a sense of accomplishment...the breaking of Gotham's spirit.
I don't want anything to satisfy Bane.
The more I think about it, the more I think Bane has immense potential as a character, not just a villain.
I would love to see a character who is composed of almost entirely gray areas, and grows toward and away from who he is at the same time. Limitless compassion, and limitless malice. The bane of his own existence.
And since "Bane" means "death, destruction, and ruin", I expect Bane will bring about his own in some fashion.
